Finding the Perfect Phone Case: A Review of Incipio's Crew Case for Galaxy S24 Series
One of the toughest parts about shopping for a new phone case is finding an option that's both stylish and protective. Now, Incipio thinks it has a case that might hit both boxes with the crew case for the Galaxy s24 series.
The Crew case itself is a co-molded TPU, which means that the bulk of the body is a flexible plastic but then you'll notice the inlay on both the brown one and both of the blue options. This inlay is a different panel of fabric, chosen by Incipio to add a little bit of style. The use of two materials also makes it slightly easier to hold onto the back of the case, as the fabric provides a better grip than plastic alone.
The crew case comes in three finishes: brown leather, Navy canvas material, and Navy camo. Each finish is available for all three Galaxy s24 devices, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their style. Personally, I'm partial to the brown leather option because it feels like a slightly more premium material than either the can or the camouflage. Additionally, I think the leather should age nicely over time, developing a patina that will make it look even older and more worn in. However, users should be careful around sharper edges, as the softer TPU material could pick up scratches.
Another feature of the crew case that I quite like is the Incipio button covers. They're a little bit larger than standard button covers and are actually rectangular, making them easier to find even if you're not looking directly at the buttons. The raised edges on the volume rocker also make it easy to identify the up and down ends of the control.
The flexible TPU material used in the crew case makes it really easy to switch out cases in just a couple seconds. This is a nice convenience for users who want to swap from one color to another or if Incipio decides to introduce new versions of the case down the road, they might be able to add a new material.
The crew case also features slightly raised lips around both the display and the camera bumps, which should help keep dust and debris from wedging its way into the back of your phone. This is especially important for users who tend to drop their phones or subject them to rough handling. Even if dust or debris does manage to get inside, Incipio has a soft inner liner that's almost like microfiber, which should keep it from actually scratching your phone.
However, I would like to see a little more protection between the cameras. Currently, there's nothing to prevent a rock or something else from hitting right in the middle and damaging both of your lenses. This is an area where Incipio could improve the case slightly, but overall, the crew case for the Galaxy s24 series does a great job of providing both style and protection.
The Incipio crew case for the Galaxy s24 series costs $49 across the entire range, which isn't a bad price given the mix of materials. If you're interested in getting one, you can grab yourself one below.
