Intel Extreme Rig Challenge GIVEAWAY

The Intel Xtreme Rig Challenge: A Gaming Revolution

In 2014, Intel sent us a space capsule, which was indeed cool. Fast forward to 2015, when they sent us the Master System, which frankly wasn't that exciting. However, if Windows release patterns are anything to go on, this one should be cool in 2016. As usual, I'm equipped with my instructions and tools for unboxing. This time, I've got a smoke machine for added dramatic effect, and I'm sure it's good for you – packing peanuts being the worst thing on earth.

The first thing that catches my eye is a strap. Intel seems to be thinking about symbolism here, sending a "strapping young gentleman" like Lina Sebastian. There's an LED flashlight, which looks useful, and a Gerber knife that seems a bit ominous. It's a kind of thing that you know big liability-conscious companies like Intel usually avoid – sending knives without 16 warnings on top of them telling you not to cut yourself with it too hard. That's pretty much the extent of what we find in this initial part of the unboxing.

However, as expected, the space capsule comes to our rescue. Inside, we find an Intel Classified Brief enclosed, which the instructions assure us are actually okay to read. Department of Strategic Services Intel Corporation agent, you have been activated as of this morning. It seems that nature's top system builders have been recruited to create the most extreme gaming rig imaginable. In a nutshell, Intel is launching a competition where 12 system builders will compete to build the best possible – and most amazing – gaming system.

The public can vote for which of the 12 finished systems will get given away. Seven of them are up for grabs using the Intel Rig Challenge, and voting can be done up to one time per day through September 3rd. Each vote wins a chance to win one of the final seven rigs that will be raffled off at Pax Prime. The contest is open to anyone who wants to participate – just share your favorite team on Twitter with the hashtag, and you'll have a shot.

As we continue to explore what's inside this box, we come across a lighter – which turns out to be just a light, not a taser! There's also an Intel Extreme Challenge Thermos, which should be useful for keeping our drinks hot or cold. The bulk of the action lies within this section of the unboxing.

In addition to these accessories, we find an all-access pass to Pax Prime. This includes airfare, hotel, and conference – not too shabby! There's also Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, which should be exciting for fans of the game. But what's truly surprising is that it comes in a PC copy, not a console version.

There are also Rocket Cave or Cob headphones included, which should provide excellent sound quality for gaming enthusiasts. And to remind us all about this amazing contest, there's an Intel Xtreme Rig Challenge t-shirt – big and bold!

Instead of the usual products announced by Intel, we find an official-looking document instead of a new processor. It seems that they've taken the opportunity to give us some manuals and documentation on hand-building our own rigs. And finally, as if all these goodies weren't enough, there's a very nice backpack included for carrying everything around.

In conclusion, this unboxing experience has given us a glimpse into what Intel has in store for us with their Xtreme Rig Challenge. We're excited to see how the public responds to the contest and which team will come out on top.
