YouTube Rewind 2023 Tech Edition ft. MKBHD, Linus Tech Tips, Technical Guruji, iJustine + More
Welcome to YouTube Tech Rewind 2023, SuperSaf Style!
This is the ninth year running we've been doing this. You guys know the drill. I've invited a bunch of my friends to share with us what their favorite tech of 2023 is.
Now, as always, there are two parts to this video. The first part has already gone live, where we're looking at our favorite smartphones, the ones we choose to use and are taking with us to 2024. That video's going to be linked in the description. You can watch it after this one.
To kick things off, what is my favorite tech of 2023? Well, it's actually not a product this year. It's a software tool, Generative AI in Adobe Photoshop. Now you guys know I'm an avid Photoshop user and have been using it for almost 20 years now. Over those years, I've spent countless hours using things like the clone stamp tool to manually remove people and objects from images or even extending images beyond the canvas. Generative AI in Photoshop really changes the game and makes all of this so much easier, and it's become part of my daily workflow.
Now, it's not perfect and can give you some really random results sometimes. Yes, the Google Pixel can do similar things, not quite as good. But for a professional workflow, this is a priceless tool, and that's why it's my pick.
I'm excited to hear what everyone else has chosen. Let's see what Jerry has picked. What's up guys? This is Jerry on SuperSaf TV, and my favorite piece of tech that's not a smartphone is actually something I'm wearing right now. This is a heated jacket, because I've been outside for the past like three weeks in very, very cold weather. There's snow on the mountains here in Utah, and this heated jacket has wires that coil through the jacket, keeping me warm and extremely happy during my Bunker project.
This jacket actually is like four years old. I used it during the Hummer project and everything, and it's still functioning great. Heated jacket, my favorite piece of technology currently that's not a cell phone.
Next up, we have iJustine on SuperSaf TV. Hey, it's iJustine, here on SuperSaf TV. My favorite non-smartphone piece of tech this year is Eight Sleep. Earlier this year, I got the Pod 3 Cover, and this is a temperature-controlled cover that you can put on top of your mattress. You fill this little base station with water, and that's what allows it to quickly heat or cool your bed.
It's awesome because there are two sides, so you can control one side, and your partner can control the other. I've loved having it set to autopilot mode throughout the night, depending on my temperature, it'll adjust accordingly. It also does some deep tracking of sleep stats, so every morning you can wake up and see how well you slept.
Now, let's hear from David on SuperSaf TV. Hey, what's up guys? It's David on SuperSaf TV, and my favorite piece of tech this year that isn't a phone is this Leica Q3. Now, I shoot on Sony cameras for everything, but I wanted a camera to just use to take photos and bring on trips.
This Q3 is still full frame, but it's rounded and has a fixed lens, so it's a lot smaller than most full frame cameras. If I'm honest, there are probably other cameras out there that are less expensive than this one that would work just as well. But I like this camera because of the way it feels to use it. It's just well-built, and there's something about it that makes me want to go out and take photos.
Let's hear what Saf has picked for his favorite tech of 2023. What's up guys? This is Saf on SuperSaf TV, and my favorite piece of tech this year that's not a smartphone is actually... (wait, there is no actual text here, only a blank space in the transcription.)

This is Gauravaka Technical Guruji on SuperSaf TV,and my favorite piece of tech for 2023,which is not a smartphone, is this one,the all-new DJI Osmo Pocket 3.I mean, what an amazing device this is,a very unique form factor, very small and compact, at the same time, really capable. We have a full one-inch sensor. We have a complete full touchscreen, able to record, in fact even in vertical, really good stabilization, really good video quality, and considering the form factor, this camera really takes it ahead. So this becomes my pick for this year. This is the one that I'm using myself.I mean, a really capable, small, cute little deviceto capture everything that you need.- Colonel Singala herefor SuperSafilicious TV.Hi, yes, here's myfavorite tech of the year. It's a category, butone of the best devices.Mm, it's the Steam Deck OLED.This is a OLED display. I love it.You know, very OLEDy,fantastic and super vicious. But, I also like the ROG Ally. This is also very light and portable. Both of them are light, portable gaming devices. When I'm on my charter jet, my plane,I can game as much as I want. That's right, Singala likes to game. It's sassy and tight.Thank you very much.Anyway, it's not for cheap people. If you don't have money, you can't buy it.That's why I love it.It's not expensive and it's not cheapat the same time.Singala, signing out.- What's up guys? This is Michael Fisher on SuperSaf TV.My favorite piece oftech that's not a phone, for 2023, is utterlyunnecessary to my work lifeand even my personal one. It's the TP-7 from Teenage Engineering. It's a field recorder. It lets you record audio and has a lovely, delightful, spinning little turntable. So if you are more skilled than Iat audio engineering, you can, \"weekie-weekie,\"do things that matter to people. It has all these inputs. You can plug in yourguitars and other thingsthat I am not skilled enough to play. But really, you can just admire it,because (tape rewinding)it's so fricking awesome. It's also $1500, so, there's that.- What's up guys? It's Jaime Riverafrom PocketNow, here on SuperSaf TV.Favorite tech product of the yearis actually a combo of cameras, the Sony ZV-E1 and Sony a7C II.I travel a lot and felt my a7S IIIwas just too heavy to haul, and the a7 IV was a good hybrid solutionbut on the same footprint almost. It's crazy that the ZV-E1 is a betterand lighter a7S III inmost ways, though, yeah,I miss the EVF and better photos. The a7C II came to solve thatas a compact a7 IV with a few extras.Sure, neither is perfect, but what can I say,I like to travel light.Saf, again, thank youso much for having me.- Okay, when it comes tomy favorite piece of techthat I've tried for 2023,the concept of it was weird and differentand I liked it, the GEME.Literally it's a device thatturns all food wasteinto actual fertilizers, into actual soil that youcan use with your plants. The concept by itself just minimizeseverything to do with waste as well as,it emphasizes about the important roleof technology in making our life better, making everything better when it comes to,not only the tech thatwe use on a daily basis, but literally our lives. So I like that. And yeah, what's up?This is Faisal Alsaif from SuperSaf TV.Forgot to say that, right? Sorry.- What's up guys? This is Jon Rettinger, back on SuperSaf TV, asanother year comes to a close.Saf asked me what my favoritepiece of technology was.I was thinking phones, tablets, even coffee makers wereup there in contention. But what I'm picking, guarantee you, nobody else in this video has picked.Ladies and gentlemen, meet my TOTO Neorest toilet. Before everybody gets grossed out, this thing is a lifechanger, a game changer, and the best technology I have in my housethat, maybe TMI, getsused every single day.It knows that I'm walking up to it.It flushes itself. It does everything.I just got to do my business, walk away.Got a special spot in my heart.I guarantee you nobodyelse picked a toilet.- Me again, just reminding you,if you're enjoying thiscollaboration so farand you want to see more like it in 2024,then do considersubscribing to this channel.- What's up, guys? This is Austin Evans on SuperSaf TV.There were a lot ofgreat gadgets this year. The Steam Deck OLEDbeing a strong contender, but my favorite is actuallya little bit of a weird one.It is the DJI Mic.Now this has been a huge game changerfor the way that I use gadgetsand record video all the time.First and foremost, it sounds great. You're listening to whatit sounds like right now.But on top of that,it works with pretty much anything. You can connect it to a smartphone. You can connect it to your camera,or, what I often do,is record locally forthe best audio quality. The whole thing goes in anice little charging case. You've got the receiver. It's got the differentUSB and lightning ends. There's so much this thing does. For my personal use,it lives in my bag all the time, and I use it pretty much every single day.Not for everyone, but if you make video, these things are absolutely clutch.- Hey guys, I'm Tom TheTech Chap on SuperSaf TV.Okay, tech of the year, what do I think?I'm going to go withthese handheld gaming PCs.Obviously we've got the Steam Deck OLED,we've got the LenovoLegion Go and the ROG Ally. The original Steam Deck did obviouslycome out a couple of years ago,but we've had this big update. While these are morepowerful with better screens, not everyone loves theWindows 11 software. It's a little bit clunky. But, I think they're great experiences.Being able to play proper AAA gamesat reasonably high-frame rates,on the plane, wherever you go,it's just a lot of fun. While we see, sort of,incremental improvementswith MacBooks, and Windowslaptops and cameras, this is like a whole new form factorthat kind of justmakes me want to play games again. So for me, handheld gamingPC's like these guysare my tech of the year.- Hey there guys, it'sMr. Q from Raqami TVhere on SuperSaf TV.So I'm very fortunate to haveloads of different camerasfrom Lumix to BlackMagic to Canon to Sony, and finally, Sony were the oneswho gave me what I've been looking for.Yes, something all in one.I'm talking about the ZV-E1.I'm the type of person that wantsto carry as little as possible, especially when I'm travelingand I'm filming at special events. It's a full frame camera.I can record 4K 120p.I've got amazing dynamic range. It also has greatstabilization in my opinion. So, if you are a content creatorand you want some devicethat's going to doas much as possible, automatically, for you, then I think that the ZV-E1is the camera for you.Alright, thanks and who's next?- Hey guys, this is JennaEzarik on SuperSaf TV,and my favorite piece of tech for 2023have to be the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. These are the headlinerwith transition lenses,so when I'm outside, theywill transition to sunglasses. But they have a 12-megapixel camera.I can take pictures, videos.I can make phone calls.I can listen to music. They have the AI built in,so I'm able to say, \"Hey Meta, take a video,\" and it will do it.These have been a game changerfor doing behind-the-scenes content, and filming, and listening to music, and basically everything that I needon a daily basis, thesehave been able to do it.- Hi, I'm Michael Josh, your Gadget Matchmaker on SuperSaf TV.One tech product that I can't live withoutis the Chipolo CARD Spotwith Apple's Find My built In.Unlike AirTags, they're almost as thin as a credit card. You know I love luxury and tech,so I have one in my LouisVuitton Pocket Organizer,IE slim wallet, and in my Hermes Steve Messenger bag. That way I don't stretch out my leatherand, more importantly, keep tabsof all my valuables, all the time.In fact, I just ordered more.- Hey guys, Ash here fromC4ETech, here on SuperSaf TV,and my favorite non-smartphone piece of techthis year has got to be the AYN Odin 2.Android-based handhelds have usuallyhad very underpowered chipsor they've been priced way too highfor what they've offered. The Odin 2, for the firsttime, changes all that.A Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 forunder $300, just insane. It can literally run any game maxed out, regardless of if it's Androidor if it's something it's emulating, and the 6-inch screensize, the form factorcombined with a big 8,000milliamp hour battery,it makes for very comfortable, long gaming sessions.- Hey, what's up? MKBHDhere on SuperSaf TV.Favorite piece of tech of the year for me,I think it's a bit of a sleeper. It's something that's existedfor longer than just this year, but I really liked it this year, and that is this thingright here, my keyboard, the Keychron Q3 mechanical keyboard. They've been around for a while. You also probably notice,I literally have amagic keyboard above it.That's just because Iuse the Touch ID hereto unlock my Mac.If I could change one thing about this,I would just have a Touch ID buttonover here on the corner.Everything else I'd keep exactly the same.Love this keyboard. If anyoneelse wants to check it out,it's the Keychron Q3.- What's up guys? Thisis Linus on SuperSaf TV.With so much innovation, I always struggleto pick my favorite tech of the year.I could go with the Apple Vision Pro,or the Bigscreen Beyond, the Steam Deck OLED, or the ROG Ally, that crazy 115-inch TV from TCL,the largest single-panel TV in the world. But instead, I'm going to be that guyand I'm going to say Wi-Fi.I know, I know, boring, right?Except it's not.Wi-Fi 7 looks to be anabsolute game changer, taking advantage of EHT technologyand the nearly-empty 6 gigahertz bandto achieve speeds that I could neverhave imagined were possible. There aren't a lot ofdevices using it yet,but when they start rolling out,you can expect a wholenew level of performance,on everything from VR headsetsto portable gaming systems to TVs.So Wi-Fi is the gluethat's going to hold togetherall that other innovation.- And there we have it,YouTube Tech Rewind 2023, SuperSaf style.I'll leave all the products mentionedlinked in the description. What is your favoritepiece of tech of 2023?Drop that in the comments below.Remember, there has beena part one to this video, looking at some of ourfavorite smartphones, the ones we're taking with us to 2024.That video is going to be linked here, and last year's collaborationis also going to belinked here in the cards. As always, a huge thanksto all of my friendsfor taking part in this videolike they do every year.If you haven't already, do check outtheir channels and show them some love. And, if you haven't alreadysubscribed to this channel, then maybe consider subscribingfor future collaborations like this.I hope you enjoyed this video. If you did, then do smashour like button for me.Thanks for watching. This Saf on SuperSaf TV,and I'll see you in 2024.\n"
