Samsung Galaxy Note 9 After 6 Months Review (with One UI)

**A Hands-On Review of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9: Pros and Cons**

As I held the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in my hands, I couldn't help but notice its impressive features and design. This device is available on almost every local store, and I decided to take it home for a thorough review.

The camera performance was one of the standout features of the note 9. In terms of front-facing camera, the video quality was decent at 1080p, and with some minor pixelation, it could be improved upon. However, when using the rear-facing camera, shooting in 4K at 60fps was a game-changer. The stabilization was excellent, even when walking, and the focusing was spot-on, even for close-up shots. I was able to demonstrate this by moving a close-up object, which showed that the camera can adjust focus quickly and accurately.

Another aspect of the note 9 that impressed me was its battery life. I didn't have a chance to test it extensively, but with normal usage, it should last all day. The device also supports fast charging, which is convenient for those who need to top up their battery quickly.

The display was another notable feature of the note 9. With a 6.4-inch screen and a resolution of 1440 x 3040 pixels, this phone boasts an excellent display that's perfect for watching videos or browsing the web. The brightness and color accuracy are also impressive, making it suitable for outdoor use.

However, not everything about the note 9 is rosy. One feature that I'm not a fan of is the fingerprint scanner, which is located on the right side of the device. While it works most of the time, I find it awkward to reach with my thumb. The iris scanner, on the other hand, is fast and convenient, but I was a bit disappointed by its speed compared to the iPhone X's Face ID.

Another con is the size of the phone itself. With 6.4 inches of screen space, this device can feel quite large in the hand, especially for those with smaller hands. If you're not careful, you might find yourself struggling to hold it comfortably. I also wish that Samsung had removed some of the bloatware features on this device. Bixby, Samsung's virtual assistant, is still not as good as Google Assistant, and I found myself using Google Assistant more often than Bixby.

In terms of software updates, Samsung has a reputation for taking its time to update devices with new Android versions. Although the note 9 received the latest Android P update, it was only available in Canada initially, and other regions might still be waiting for their turn.

Lastly, I wanted to mention that the phone comes with a plastic case in the box, but I found out that this case can easily scratch up over time. If you're planning to use your note 9 extensively, I would recommend applying a screen guard or using it with a case to protect it from scratches.

**Conclusion**

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is an excellent device for business users and those who require a premium Android smartphone experience. While there are some drawbacks, such as the fingerprint scanner and software update issues, these can be mitigated by adjusting your expectations. With its excellent camera performance, impressive display, and long battery life, this phone should satisfy most users. If you're looking to buy one, keep an eye out for discounts or promotions, especially if Samsung releases a new device soon.

**Final Thoughts**

If you already own a note 9, I'd love to hear about your experience with the device. Did you have any concerns or were there any features that surprised you? "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is Ranjit an and this video will have a relook at the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 9 and I had unbox this phone in August of 2018 and I just was checking my channel I hadn't posted the review of this one because I got so busy with other smartphones and I actually started reusing this device then I had used it for about 25 days but from the last 20 days I was also using this one as my primary smartphone and now this one has got the Android Pi update as well as the UI has changed now this one has the new UI that is known as the Samsung one UI so let's have a look at this one and see how it feels and this is the invariant guys that comes with the Exynos processor it has that 6.4 inch screen and other stuff so let's get out on the review and let me divide it between the pros and cons let's first talk about the pros and then we move to cons and again as you can see have a whole list of pros and cons so let's go over them what I liked it what I didn't like it and the first thing that I liked it and I would come to this with the note 8 was the battery life this has a bigger battery it has a four thousand milliamp hour battery and that really reflects and use it in fact I would say in terms of battery life the battery life has in photo after this new update that is the one UI maybe it's just because this always-on screen it's not always active you can do that but it goes away but I'm getting actually now a very good battery life are with this one as you can see these are the latest stats the standby time if you look it's not very impressive just over summer for or arts but look at the standby time it's almost two days of standby time and yes this was not with very heavy usage but again if you notice two sons are installed on this one hence the battery life is actually good even with the regular use it easily at the end of the day even on a heavy day I had always had about 20% battery life left and for most days I was it was last mean for about one and a half five days so the battery life is the biggest improvement that I've seen if we compare with the noted the notates battery life was not that great also in terms of weight balance yes it has that help but the weight balance has done good on the phone so it feels sturdy the build quality is really good I would say one of the best build qualities that I've seen with a Samsung device now I'm going to another thing that I like is that with it note 9 the minimal storage that you get is 128 gigabytes and I feel that's more than enough for most users and also you have a slot for that micro SD card that hybrid strap so you can expect the student so in terms of storage they have done a good thing because earlier smartphones the flagship still many of the flax should just give 64 GB of internal storage in the basement but here you get that 128 gigabytes of internal storage now another thing as we are talking about the charging and stuff I like the fact that it supports wireless fast charging and have used it a couple of times if you have a fast wireless charger this one definitely charges very quickly also moving to the general overall performance it has the Exynos processor octa-core processor and it handles everything fine on this one this is with the new UI one UI but even though the priory UI I felt I didn't exhibit any lag enos while using the phone and also thanks to that six gigabytes of RAM the RAM management issue is also good I didn't have any problems with RAM management and for example some apps like trueCaller etc that have to be always in memory they were always in memory and they pop when it comes those don't boot out of memory so the RAM management has been done very well on this device now again coming to the 1ui I won't talk a lot about it but I and as you can see it's terms of functionality not a lot of functionality has changed but I would say this feels a little bit more cleaner and modern compared to the old UI but again the icons have changed yes definitely but yeah even the settings and layout has become a lot easier and stuff but again under the hood it's almost the same I would say so if you have been using the old you are it will be familiar but it feels a lot cleaner and now you have that always full screen mode if you want I like that because I was using other phones with the full screen so you have that mode in the fun UI and that works pretty well now moving to the screen quality again it's a Samsung phone so the screen quality is really good it has a six point four inch Super AMOLED screen and I have to say the AMOLED screen is really good like the fact that even in outdoor direct sunlight when you keep the brightness on high or or on auto it goes really bright and you can easily see the screen that's not the case of many of the smartphones so in that way it's good and again the AMOLED screen quality is really good I don't use the default adaptive display by default it comes with the adaptive display but I'm using it actually in the AMOLED cinema screen because I feel in this one it has the most accurate color spot yeah nevertheless the screen quality is really good now coming to cellular call quality I have used this one a little and G ourselves and here in Hyderabad I did not have any issues of cellular call quality with this one now I'm now moving to the speakers it has steam your speakers but yes it's a good thing that it has the newest speakers but I would say the stereo effect is not as good as the iPhone or even the new pixel 3xl so it's good that we have it but I wished it was slightly louder also I like the fact that this phone still retains the headphone jack and I've used it a couple of times with the headphone jack I really like that they didn't touch that and again this also has the S Pen functionality you know and no device has that so if you use that that functionality is there but to be frank guys during the last 12 days I did not use the s-pen a lot maybe if this was not always my primary smartphone I would have started using it but yeah the S Pen functionality is there and now moving to the camera also the camera performance is also really good these are some of the random samples that I had taken with the rear facing camera and as you can see the camera performance is actually really good I would say it's the best yes pixel can be written in certain situations but nevertheless the cameras are actually really good and even the front-facing camera is also very good and here are some very quick video samples that I have taken with this one this was shot with the front-facing camera and this was a quad HD mode with the front-facing camera and for some reason it came pixelated when I set it to quad HD plus maybe this bug is due to the new one UI recording this again with the front-facing camera now I'm recording it at 1080p the earlier sample that are recorded at quad HD it can also record quad HD with the camera for some reason when I played back on this phone it was fine but when I put it on the computer it was pixelated but anyways guys this is at 1080p and the audio is also being recorded by its internal microphone I'm just gonna walk around to give you an idea how is the stabilization do let me know what do you think about the video with the front-facing camera but this is at 1080p now this quick sample is from the rear-facing camera and I'm shooting it at 4k and it can also shoot up to 60fps at 4k but this is at regular 30fps and guys I'm walking so wanted to see how good is the stabilization in 4k the focusing is not an issue let me actually show you this is a close-up object and if I just move it here the focusing looks to be good but you let me know what do you feel about the video and the stability with the rear facing camera so those were the good things about the note 9 now let's move to the cons what I do not like it has this fingerprint scanner over here and it's fine I would say it works most of the time no issues and you get used to it it's actually not the easiest position as you can see if you hold the phone your finger doesn't reach check but after a while you get used to it and you reach it but it also has that iris scanner and it works but iris scanner is actually not as fast as face idea what we have seen an iPhone inside so if you just rely on that iris scanner it definitely takes a second or two to unlock now another thing is that this is actually a very tall device it has that six point four inches screen that's not a big deal many phones are having a six point four inch screen but as it has that bezels here at the bottom and top it becomes very tall so if you have very small hands I would not recommend you this phone and again if you're buying this phone go to a local stores now it's available on almost every local store handle it pick it up and see if you are okay with the size there's definitely this is a 200 device even if you have big hands I frankly feel this is actually a 200 device another thing that I do not still light on these Samsung phones and this is for the s9 also it's still that big speed button and I simply do not like that accidentally you can touch they say build it as you can see if you touch it if I press it it doesn't work but still that unnecessary button is there and I hope Samsung removes it in the next version of this because frankly speaking let's get real guys Bixby is not as good as Google assistant also as it's a Samsung phone we just got Android P update and the one you are just now in Chan very so eventually the next Android update will also be pretty slow on that Samsung is actually pretty slow in terms of Android updates compared to the competition and last call is that if you notice I'm using the phone just like this you do get a plastic case in the box but I have been actually using it with Doc done and if you notice the back the back has now actually got scuffed up quite a bit which is actually pretty surprising because if you look at the front part of the screen the front part of the screen hasn't gone scratched up so definitely they are using a different kind of a glass from the back if we compare it to the front so definitely if you're using it do apply a some sort of a screen guard even at the back or use it with that case because the dark as you can see can easily get the scuffed up so nevertheless to say still I feel the note 9 is a very good practical device mostly for business users who might be using the s-pen and if you are still looking for a premium what is an Android smartphone you can have a look but now certainly it has become slightly on the older side it's almost six months or now and yes we will be getting new devices like the s10 etcetera but still I feel if you are getting a very good deal on this I am assuming that after the launch of the s10 or stuff like that the pricing of this one might fall down or we might get more discounts on that one so if you are getting it on a very good deal still I feel the note 9 is a excellent device anyways guys that's it for my long-term review of this note 9 what do you think about the note 9 if you already own a note 9 do let me know what was your experience what do you feel about this device would love to know that anyways guys that's it for now and if you guys are still not subscribed to my youtube channel hit that subscribe button this is Ranjith and I hope to see you in my next video take care guyshi there this is Ranjit an and this video will have a relook at the
