Modified Porsche 997 Carrera S - One Take

**A Passionate Porsche Enthusiast**

As I stood in front of this stunning 1962 Porsche 911, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and admiration for the German supercar. Nick, the owner, was enthusiastic about his vehicle, and I could tell that he had poured his heart and soul into it. He mentioned how much he loves driving the car, saying "it's like no problem every time I drive." This statement spoke volumes about the Porsche's reliability and performance.

Nick went on to rave about the 911's handling, stating that "it flies under the radar" yet is capable of delivering exceptional driving experiences. He praised its dual personality, allowing drivers to engage with the car in various ways, from gentle cruising to spirited track days. This ability to adapt to different driving styles made the Porsche a joy to own, according to Nick.

When asked about the 911's performance, Nick emphasized the importance of reliability and durability. He mentioned that the IMS problem, which was once a common issue with certain Porsche models, had been largely eliminated. This was music to his ears, as he could now enjoy his car without worrying about major repairs. Additionally, Nick mentioned the benefits of using grade 1 needed spray, highlighting the attention to detail that went into maintaining this exceptional vehicle.

As we discussed the virtues of this particular Porsche, Nick began to contrast it with other cars, including the Ferrari 430. While he admired the Ferrari's sleek design and powerful performance, he couldn't help but feel that his Porsche offered a more refined and satisfying driving experience. The mid-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive layout made the 911 an extremely engaging car to drive, according to Nick.

Nick also touched on the topic of fuel efficiency, mentioning that the Porsche could achieve impressive mileage rates when driven efficiently. He joked about how this feature could come in handy for long road trips or daily commutes. However, he also acknowledged that some owners might find the sound of the exhaust system too quiet, stating that it "would be louder" if they wanted to hear a more noticeable noise.

Throughout our conversation, Nick expressed his passion and dedication to Porsche ownership. He revealed that owning multiple cars was not as easy for him as it seemed, as he struggled with the emotional attachment that came with parting with each vehicle. Despite this challenge, Nick remained committed to finding the perfect Porsche, stating that "I wish I could keep going" in his search.

Nick also recommended BBI Autosport, a reputable tuning shop based in Huntington Beach, California. He praised their expertise and attention to detail, saying that they had transformed his 911 into a finely tuned machine with minimal modifications. Nick acknowledged that the Porsche's existing capabilities made it less necessary for extensive tinkering, but he was still eager to find ways to improve its performance.

As our conversation drew to a close, Nick invited us to check out his wheel well profile and learn more about his Porsche project. With a hint of pride in his voice, he encouraged readers to visit BBI Autosport if they happened to own one of these exceptional cars, assuring them that the shop's services would be invaluable for maintaining its performance and beauty.

**Conclusion**

As I bid farewell to Nick and his stunning 1962 Porsche 911, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for this exceptional vehicle. The owner's passion and dedication to his car were evident throughout our conversation, and it was clear that he had fallen in love with the Porsche's unique blend of performance, handling, and reliability. Whether you're an experienced enthusiast or just starting your Porsche journey, Nick's story serves as a testament to the enduring allure of these iconic German supercars.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey everyone this is a it's a very hot day up in the canyons today so I'm happy to be in a car with German air conditioning this is Nick thank you for coming down so minute and this is Nick's Porsche 997 Carrera S with PDK tell me a little bit about your car um so it's a 2010 997 s and I had a lot of a little custom work nothing really done to the engine by BDI oh so we're talking about intake new Springs new tow links okay bushings replaced custom exhaust cool that's about it is this your daily this is my damn cool so you don't want to go too crazy with no I kind of wanted to keep the profile at a Carrero level I do so but I kind of wanted a little bit of gt3 it's okay personality well but Tim and Joey vbi they do fine tuning they do and they're behind they're the best at fine-tuning in this area certainly so let's uh let's see how it is on the on big Tujunga here I don't want to stray clear alright so we're in Sport Plus we're in manual mode you've uh the steering wheel is thicker than I recall yeah so um they had a guy had actually um a steering wheel that was brown leather on it and had a guy who customary rapid so so it's thicker now yep little thicker I like it you know level crimping I like it a lot actually and because I had to get rid of those push panels that were on it oh it has that oh yeah yeah that'll be Portia on feet you know they do they do almost everything perfectly yep and then there is just some things where you go come on and like that like this like charging you for the steering wheel yeah this can't possibly cost more to make than that other steering wheel now and you feel like if they just made only this one they wouldn't have to charge you for it but they can they do that I can do and they will nickel you and dime you ever a little bit today yeah yeah but this car otherwise it seems like a pretty no offence fairly basic like it doesn't have any of the extra tacky stuff on and now actually we talked about putting some arrow on it doing some stuff and in the end the profile we're going for us I just you know subtle so I don't I don't know I don't want to go crazy on a daily driver I don't want it to track what you want and you want ground clearance yes you don't need to be worrying about all that crap nobody's lowered a little but for most part it's it doesn't scrape too much while it rides very well oh it's brilliant yeah it's not it's not uh you know scary and fast notice it's got good power what is it what does his engine make for 4 power engines stock is 385 fine and I think it's it's probably pushing over 4 okay we're in there for 15 so it's something roughly gt3 power yeah you know what I love about these cars is that flat-six you get no vibration in El heaven and because that engine is behind you I feel like you're you get less stress because there's just less that comes into the cabin yeah that's it that's why I just want to is still my daily driver one down that way I don't want the profile of eating different and just the feel of a rear engine pushing me up as opposed to kind of being pulled it's just a very different feel yeah steering so good and I love the 991 but every time I Drive a 997 I go this is the right size like you're not a small guy and I'm not a small guy I still fit we fit like it doesn't need to get bigger just to get bigger now the nine-nine one to me is a little little too bulky I do like I do like how it looks okay some like the new lights on the back of me yeah ethically it's very pleasing but 9:97 just a good sweet spot I they they really nailed it with the size of this car yeah shape of it and I like the 991 as well yeah but when I park it in my garage when I got the press car yeah and it was now go man it it looks big in here yep and and when you're on a road like this it feels it feels like you have less room to within the lane it's big but to have this car is great you know it's just a great driving car so this has 34,000 miles on it did you get it new or did you buy my bought it used computers ago with 2800 K so I haven't put that many miles on it you don't drive very far they know my mouth from work so is a great car if you only have a five-mile p.m. it's fantastic and they're practical maybe they're reasonably good fuel economy yeah I mean you still can't have Lexus in the back seats oh but but I can throw up a back yeah I scream the from' can the back yeah like you can't travel in it yep and they look kind of dope with racks on the roof to it like I haven't seen those yeah they kind of don't matter a little bit you know a ballsy a little bit yeah but if you really wanted to go for it you know you're definitely good what tires you're running on cause the Michelin policy sports always a good decision yep oh I love this car I love it it's so nice it's so nice this is so nice and the Porsches we're going when we make a u-turn up here actually what's a little further because it's a Porsche yeah I don't want to give it back yet going up you'll get more into it I know iron that'll be fun I know you got to keep you have to keep the RPM Joe and I in this Guardian you know if you're used to something like a vet where it's three to four thousand rpm you know for power and then up here it's really five five-and-a-half is where it starts if you aren't used to it the car will feel flat yeah it does Ferraris are the same way yep you have to be totally used to running a card 5,000 rpm all day otherwise it's going to bug you out and feel slow yep you know I do think the newest PDK is a bit snappier if this one isn't it it is this is sport+ is on right yeah yep turning radius I imagine oh look at that typical 911 yep beautiful can I launch it do you mind oh yeah there is Sport Plus will do left foot brake right foot gasps here we go yes that's the first time I felt that in the passenger seat a whole different experience machine isn't it it is there's a there are some cars that launch like the the 991 Turbo S oh we need 60 launches in a row in that car that's like like DDK is the best gearbox I've plotted because they've rated for 3,000 launches to launch every day for eight years yeah from that and other cars like they can't do it like I I don't want to say exactly what card is but it rhymes with Hamburg eating that at the end it was very very unhappy but I did about 20 launches over while over a five-day area we did in the 991 we did 60 consecutive and it was like temperature fine clutch is fine like that thing was like no problem every time I Drive and I love it I'm just like the idea I love their grade one needed spray now I've got the the 1962 Bose yeah like think first of all you get rid of the IMS problem with nairo and there but they're going up already are they yeah I feel like I'm on the one hand I'm going to feel stupid for not buying a 996 turbo on the other hand I don't really like how they drive I much prefer how this car drives yes to how a 996 turbo I would personally for my money rather spending on 997 I whoa I would as well can you early 1997 turbos affordable yet but that little 60s or 70s or these can you look for a high mileage probably in the 60s yeah this car though kid can you hit one of these in the 50s right now um it I think they just kind of went to the 50s that it's something like this for if you can get it brain yep and I like they said a little bit of extra lovin it just gives a little extra punch yeah and I'm not trying to block their spot but you also own a Ferrari 430 right I do now you know Ferrari 430 is maybe double the price of this on the used market yes is it double the car no right no it's an amazing car right I love it but this car just kind of it's nice it flies under the radar people still like how it looks and it just drives fantastic and I'd have to ever worry about problems with it do you feel like because I feel like the Ferrari even though they're a little they're robust I feel like mentally they feel fragile to me they yeah or honor or they're just more exhausting to drive in a good way out there but they're they're completely different profiles for when I like driving something else a mid-engined Ferrari is a two hands on the wheel at all times thing yes whereas this can be it's got more of a dual personality you can come up here and bomb it you go to a track day and be very involved or you can totally do this you do that and get 20 miles per gallon we're just as messed up look at these things they're just the best and they it really it really happy I'm not like beating on the car but I'm going quickly right now but the car just it feels like once you direction you go more and like you can just you can rev this thing to redline all day and never it never gives you the indication that isn't exactly what you're supposed to be doing it even the exhaust they put in wasn't loud no it's not infected you I'm not sure I'd be able to tell an hour from stock unless I went back-to-back yep you can I might go a little louder I can go a little louder and I thought about that I would guess I would consider louder for sure you're more than tank than you hear anything else oh it's the best these cars are so good and I have to buy one of these at some point I need some more money the problem is in order to buy one I have to sell all my like other cars and I can't myself to do that don't do that up to emotionally attached to my cars I wish I could see them as something that was just you know to solder rotation but theoretically I'm investing in them not sure I ever but and you know this car is for having the weight distribution that it does the front end is so communicative yep you know in AD that's six or seven tenths it feels mega planted at ten tenths and that's not today that's on the track yeah it moves around a little bit but it tells you what it's doing and you can really control it you know getting the tail out on this thing versus the f430 yeah f430 tail out no problem yeah you got a got to worry a little yeah but uh this has been very enjoyable Nick I I wish I wish I could I wish I could keep going but um but people have probably tuned out already but uh thank you very much that's great you check out Nick's wheel well profile to see what he's done with his Porsche and and absolutely if you happen to have one of these cars I would certainly agree with BBI Autosport in Huntington Beach those guys are really the the kings of fine tuning these cars and you don't need too much there's no couple little things and it's and it's and the ride quality is great with it but if the handling is there and the grip and and it's awesome I mean it's it's a 911 I mean we I love them I will continue loving them see you guys next timehey everyone this is a it's a very hot day up in the canyons today so I'm happy to be in a car with German air conditioning this is Nick thank you for coming down so minute and this is Nick's Porsche 997
