**Lexar SSD Review: A Budget-Friendly Option with Surprising Performance**
The Lexar SSD is a 9700KF processor-based drive that boasts an impressive list of features, including 16GB of memory and a GeForce 1060 graphics card. In this review, we'll put the Lexar SSD to the test and see how it compares to other high-end drives on the market.
**Testing Setup**
For our testing, we used the same machine with the same port to ensure consistency in our results. We also disconnected the machine from the internet to eliminate any software variations that may affect the tests. This setup allowed us to perform a range of tests, including crystal disk mark, read speed, write speed, and real-world copy and paste tests.
**Crystal Disk Mark Test**
We started with the crystal disk mark test, which measures the sequential read and write speeds of an SSD. The Lexar SSD scored 2,070 MB/s in the read test, placing it behind the Samsung 970 EVO Plus (which had a score of 2,100 MB/s) but ahead of other drives like the Corsair MP500 (2,030 MB/s) and Kingston Fury Renzo (1,900 MB/s). In the write test, the Lexar SSD scored 2,070 MB/s as well, beating out the Corsair MP500 (1,980 MB/s), Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1,960 MB/s), and Kingston Fury Renzo (1,830 MB/s).
**Real-World Performance**
In our real-world performance tests, we copied data from one drive to another using both crystal disk mark and our own proprietary testing software. The results were surprising: the Lexar SSD came out on top in these tests, beating out even the faster Corsair MP500.
**Temperature Testing**
One area where the Lexar SSD lags behind its competitors is in temperature performance. During our testing, we noticed that the Lexar SSD came out slightly hotter than other drives on the market. However, this may not be a significant issue for most users, as it's unlikely to impact everyday use.
**Conclusion**
Overall, we're impressed with the Lexar SSD's performance and value. While it may not match the top-end performance of more expensive drives like the Samsung 970 EVO Plus or Corsair MP500, its synthetic test scores are still impressive. In real-world tests, however, the Lexar SSD excelled, beating out even faster drives in our copy and paste tests.
**What's Missing**
One area where the Lexar SSD falls short is in software features. Unlike some other high-end SSDs, which come with built-in cloning facilities and drive health monitoring tools, the Lexar SSD lacks these features. However, for most users, this won't be a significant issue.
In conclusion, we highly recommend the Lexar SSD as a budget-friendly option that still delivers impressive performance. Its lower price point compared to more expensive drives like the Samsung 970 EVO Plus makes it an attractive choice for those looking for high-performance without breaking the bank.
