SESAME STREET Lollipop Cookies (ft. my son's voice as Cookie Monster) _ COOKIE'S FAMOUS COOKIE DOUGH
**Cookie Monster's Famous Cookie Dough and Colored Candy Cookies**
As I sat down to write this article, my son excitedly exclaimed, "My favorite thing is eating cookies!" And who can blame him? Who wouldn't love a good cookie? Especially when it comes from the one and only Cookie Monster. My little one was thrilled to be helping me test out Cookie Monster's famous cookie dough recipe, which I had adapted into Colored Candy Cookies.
First, we needed to make the basic sugar cookie recipe. And boy, was this a fun part of the process! As Cookie Monster himself said in his best voice, "Me love cookies!" We mixed together 2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, and baking powder, before adding 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract and 1 cup of butter (softened to room temperature). The instructions called for us to mix everything together until it was a dough. I have to say, my son was quite the enthusiastic mixer! He even asked if he could use his hands instead of a spoon, which is exactly what we did.
Once our dough was ready, we refrigerated it for at least an hour to let the flavors meld together. As an experiment, I decided to dye some of the dough black, just to see how it would affect the final product. And oh boy, it made a big difference! The stained glass effect was even more pronounced than I had anticipated.
While our dough was chilling, we prepared our candies for the next step in the process. We separated them from their wrappers and placed them into sandwich bags, before bashing them up with a hammer to create a fun, smashed candy texture. My son couldn't stop giggling as he watched me smash those poor candies into submission.
Next, we took our dough out of the fridge and rolled it between two pieces of wax paper until it was about a quarter inch thick. Then, using our strips of dough, we created lollipop frames by cutting little strips about a quarter of an inch wide. We could get creative here, making whatever shape we wanted, but I stuck to the classic Ernie and Bert design.
**Making the Colored Candy Cookies**
To make these cookies even more special, we added a touch of creativity by filling them with candies. My son helped me carefully fill each lollipop frame with a small amount of candy, using a tiny spoon to get into all the little nooks and crannies. We used everything from pineapple-flavored hard candies to colorful sprinkles to create the perfect combination.
Finally, we popped our cookies into a 400-degree oven for four to eight minutes, depending on how big they were. As soon as the candy started to bubble and melt, we removed them from the oven and allowed them to cool completely. And that's when the magic happened! Our Colored Candy Cookies were transformed into beautiful, delicious treats.
**The Final Product**
As we gathered around the table to taste our creations, my son exclaimed, "Oh no! I almost hate to do it...he's so stinking cute!" And indeed, Cookie Monster was adorable, with his little pink nose and mischievous grin. But more importantly, he was delicious. The cookie dough recipe I used was a great foundation for the Colored Candy Cookies, with its perfect balance of sugar, butter, and vanilla.
I must say, I was quite impressed by how rigid our cookies turned out to be once they were cooled completely. This recipe is not only fun to make, but it's also surprisingly versatile. I think these Colored Candy Cookies would make a great party favor or snack for a rainy day, and I can already imagine the looks on my son's friends' faces when we handed them out.
**The Verdict**
Overall, I was thrilled with how our Colored Candy Cookies turned out. They were not only delicious, but also visually stunning. And as an added bonus, they made a great excuse for me to get creative in the kitchen and have some fun with my son. If you're looking for a fun recipe to try with your kids, I highly recommend giving this one a shot. Who knows what other creations we'll come up with?

and recipes this is cookie monster's famous cookie dough this book which is volume 8 which is for cookie monster's colored candy cookies and it refers to volume 1 for the cookie dough recipe which is this one which surprisingly is not chocolate chip i've always assumed cookie's favorite cookie was chocolate chip but this is a basic sugar cookie recipe and so you need to make this recipe first and then you can make cookie monster's colored candy cookies which you really want to make because this recipe involves using a hammer and smashing candies and what kid would not love to do that i have a special treat for you my son will be reading the instructions to this recipe in his best cookie monster voice dear me too hello there me cookie monster and my favorite thing is eating cookies and this what the he going to show you how to make all kinds of keys first secret recipe for crystal that's a stick laughs do you mixture pork beet blend everything in the boat together two and a half couple cups of all purpose flour poured over mixture measure one teaspoon salt and sprinkled over flour and baking powder not lemon mix everything together either with pork with your hands i think i'll do it with my hands so at this point cookie monster got a little bit tired so i'm gonna continue here we're gonna wrap our dough and refrigerate it for at least an hour and as an experiment i dyed some of this dough black because i really wanted to exaggerate the stained glass effect to prepare our candies we're just going to separate them take them out of their wrappers place them into a sandwich bag and then bash them up with a hammer next we're going to take our dough and roll it between two pieces of wax paper until it's about a quarter inch thick next we're going to cut little strips about a quarter of an inch wide then using our strips of dough we're going to create our lollipop frames you can get really creative here and make whatever kind of shape you would like but i'm just going with the classic ernie and burt the instructions say to do this on foil but i would recommend doing this on a silpat sheet like i'm doing here or on parchment paper if you want to make these into lollipops make sure to include a stick now comes the fun part we're just going to fill these up with candies i found a little tiny spoon really helpful in getting the small like little nooks and crannies and and the cookie is great a very basic sugar cookie a little bit of vanilla lots of butter nice amount of salt in there and of course you've got the hard crackly candy in there and that happened to be a pineapple flavor which i used for the eyeballs of cookie so after the candy melts it hardens right back up to a hard candy consistency and adds a lot of structural integrity to the lollipop as well these are actually much more rigid than i expected them to be this is a great great recipe love it i had some extra cookie dough that i just formed into cookies and they were delicious really versatile i think there's a lot of fun things that you can do this recipe i think it's a perfect rainy day project i think this would also make really great party favors for a birthday or something as
