The Sound System and Interior Design of the Ford Probe
I have to say that the sound system in this episode is pretty good, but they put some really weird disco lights in the backseat. I mean, who puts disco lights in their car? It's just not something you'd see on a car like this. And it's not just the lights themselves, but also the fact that they're integrated into the Aztec art on the dashboard. The name tag on the dashboard is also really annoying. It says "Hello my name is 1492" which is just a major history faux pas. Columbus was an Italian explorer who sailed for Spain and landed in the Caribbean in 1492, not around the world like everyone thinks he did. And to make matters worse, this car had nothing to do with the Aztecs or their culture.
The Body Kit of the Ford Probe
The body kit on this Ford Probe is actually pretty cool. I mean, it's not a giant vent or anything, but it's definitely tasteful. And one thing that surprised me was how common this car's interior design is. It's like they took Jimmy Neutron's car and just replicated it. There are all these buttons and things on the dashboard, and the color scheme is pretty rough. I mean, I think black would have looked way cleaner than this yellow peach insert.
The History Lesson
But what really got my blood boiling was the history lesson that David gave us. He basically told us that Columbus sailed to India around the earth because he asked for permission from Spain to do it. That's just not true. Columbus took his last journey in 1502 to Central America, but he never encountered the Aztecs or anyone else who knew about the new world at that time. The Spanish conquistadors came later and basically ruined everything.
The Modification Laws in Quebec
I was also kind of fascinated by the modification laws in Quebec, Canada where I first saw this car. Apparently, there are a lot of restrictions on modifying cars in that province, which is understandable given the high cost of living and taxes. But it's still interesting to see how people in that area modify their cars.
The Best Way to Describe the Car's Interior
I think the best way to describe this car's interior is that it's like Jimmy Neutron's car. There are all these buttons and gadgets on the dashboard, and it's just a really fun and playful design. But at the same time, I don't love the color scheme of the insert - yellow peach is just not my cup of tea.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enguess what time it is that's right we're back to talk about another pimp my ride this one caught my attention mostly because of the car itself I haven't watched this episode in a very long time so I totally forgot they did a Ford Probe a little bit of backstory the forward probe was going to be the replacement of the Mustang out of all things this was supposed to replace the Mustang yeah can you believe that that's their smoking crack or did some surveys around the country and said what do you guys want and more people wanted a Japanese more looking like car I guess you could say something that looked more like a Mazda instead of a Ford and what did that do oh my god one of the worst things they've ever built it was front-wheel drive had a crappy motor just wasn't a good car there was over 50,000 letters sent in to Ford to scrap the project and not call it the Mustang but they've already produced and planned all this to produce the probe so they still made it and called it the probe back to the episode the episode is about this one woman he was actually pretty light-hearted an artist who volunteers for troubled kids to do art with them and I think that's pretty cool using art therapy with immigrant families and trouble teams he's definitely one of the most wild people on the show I'm a very unique person I have a tattoo on my lower back and it's the god of death it's got the nickname of pro this episode in particular though really threw me off in a lot of ways a contradiction for pimp my ride sometimes to be like no we can't do this to a car because it's not street-legal yet this car literally wants you to vandalize have you heard of paint-by-numbers I'm gonna write in the paint buy tires they installed paint sprayers near the tires so she could paint with her car hey gonna be hooked up to this compressor and tank I'm not him right here in the back it's got a paint sprayer without pain we need the biggest canvas cool idea on camera bad idea for the police and everybody else think about it you're going down the highway and you just get really mad you're like screw this road earn you just put paint all over the road and then the person behind you is gonna slip on it and lose traction like a James Bond oil spill this car at the beginning is by far one of the roughest on the show my car is amazing she got a roof caved in shout out to the Bay Area you don't know sanneh Bay Area's famous for people jumping up and quoting cook going stupid and dumb yeah and they couldn't get a suspension you know so I just see it's completely mismatched the fenders don't match that body panels have huge panel gaps they can't get everything to line up one headlight is up one is down and she made the stereotypical thing that those car guys always say is that it's winking at you hmm but you can tell that exhibit on this episode it's like what a piece of junk does a dyers show he's just like can we please get this over with so let's talk about the exterior first the wheels and tires are fine for the era chrome wheels and tires extremely common however the paint job on this is supposed to simulate an Aztek kind of look so they hire a graffiti artist named man one to do all the art of the car stack woman a couple of finishing touches and my tag and now Sheila man has a rolling piece of urban art now for being a graffiti artist if it was on a wall it would look really cool but they decide to do this aztec warrior kind of shrine on the hood and it looks awkward our name is man one looks a little off because you have the street art on the side with the stereotypical graffiti kind of text and all that and that's just like an Aztec cave painting almost that would be in a temple terior is what to be expected it's the two-tone colors that we've seen a lot in other Epis and it started we can do arts and crafts to hook you up with a thigh ram beheaded not the most offensive interior we've seen so far it is colored it has a bright blue color but it kind of matches with the graffiti our outside so it's not as jarring to some of the other interiors we've seen like the clips will say the trunk on this one is really cool they basically make these molds to keep all our art supplies in the trunk and it modulates and goes up and down well now you don't have to bend over in your trunk it's pretty well done the sound system is pretty good but they put like disco lights in the backseat weird how I put my right episodes they always put a lot of emphasis on the backseat like these people are just gonna hang out in their backseat in their garage and just be like yeah this is awesome you know they have a couch inside I hear it's pretty great I understand they were trying to be clever with this car because she was an artist they could go kind of crazy with it cuz you can argue it was abstract you could argue that it created creativity or whatever the fact that she could get in so much trouble doing donuts while vandalizing a parking lot it's a double whammy reckless driving ticket plus vandalism Eagles a really bad day so her roofline is completely falling apart like it is really bad and there's a lot of like in do windows throughout the episode I'm like how did they get away with this don't be wrong they're not like super inappropriate but it's one of those cringy moments where you're like okay I mean I guess however there's one thing that drives me absolutely nuts about this episode and you're gonna be like really David that's what you're getting mad about well it's important to me okay they put a name tag integrated into the Aztec art they have a little name tag and I think it says hello my name is 1492 you know the importance of that day yes of course when Columbus came I conquered the world it really pissed me off I absolutely adore history it's what I was best at in school and if I wasn't doing a car channel I would probably be doing a History Channel but this is what pissed me off he didn't even take the time to look up that 1492 had nothing to do with the Aztecs oh my god I cannot express how annoyed I cook quick history lessons with David 1492 Columbus decides to ask for later by the Spanish conquistadors who basically ruined everything he brought in small box and everything bad happened not to be confused with Apocalypto which also got all this wrong pointed matter is it was really frustrating for a nerd like me but we're not here to talk about Mayans and Aztecs even though I've already gone on about this for like a minute or two you could argue that since Columbus sailed for the Spanish that the rest of the Spanish knew about the new word because of Columbus anyway back to the car the body kid on the probe could be a lot worse it really could there's
