Top Ten Things You Need to Know About the Audi RS4 Avant
This is the Audi RS4 Avant, and here's the car. Wow, top ten things you need to know about it. I'm not the old daddy RS4, which was a 4.2 liter V8. This is a 2.9 liter V6 turbo, and it's the exact same engine you're getting with the RS5. This car has plenty of horsepower - fifty units, 600 Newton meters, and it says Ali will do zero to sixty in 4.1 seconds. But I've already timed the RS5, and it does it in under four seconds. I think it's going to be the same story with this thing.
The top speed of this car is limited to 155 miles an hour, but if you pay for it, they'll let it do 174 miles an hour. There isn't actually anything different about the car other than a software patch in case you're wondering. The economy of the RS4 is 30 miles per gallon and it emits less than 200 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide.
I think I've done a great job of really beefing up this RS4 Avant over the normal S4. You've got the usual oval tailpipes in the back, a big diffuser, and a big front grille. All these are quite easy to do what's more impressive is that they actually worked on the bodywork itself for instance these wheel arches are blistered and really stick out, and they remind me of those on the old Quattro rally car from the 80s.
The RS4 gearbox may not have dual clutches, but you can do launch control with it which is handy if you want to do a 0-60 launch. The gearbox itself is pretty nice to use, and it's better on the paddles because if you put it in auto mode and you suddenly kick down it can be a bit slow to respond even if you've got it in sport setting that's my experience with the RS5 anyway.
The RS4 gets proper permanent Quattro all-wheel drive, which will send power to the rear wheels. It does have a genuine rear drive buyers feel to it when you want it to and you can enhance that further with the optional Sport differential being an option so you can get this car with carbon ceramic brakes though this one's on the Steel's I would suggest you actually have those unless you want to track this car.
One option worth having though is the adaptive suspension II, which made such a difference on the RS5. It makes it a really genuine livable performance car for everyday. It's super comfy, and press a button and it sharpens up and feels nice and sporty. The new RS5 is just way more fun to drive than the old one; it's just so much more communicative. Its chassis isn't quite as good as Indy but that's not talked about. Yeah, the chassis is better and it will be the same with this new RS4.
You get a big practical estate boot, which is brilliant inside. You've got various RS starting upgrades such as a flood balm steering wheel, there are Oris badges just to remind you of how much you've spent on the car, some RS seats which are very comfy that they do seem to sit a little bit too high for my liking. You also get a digital driver's display as standard with bespoke or S styles which do look kind of cool.
Now if you want to upgrade, they're coming with some carbon fiber bits of trim and you can pay extra to do that though I would bother because it's very expensive and looks a bit like jacket the new Audi RS4 will go on sale early 2018 price from around 65 thousand pounds.
