Huawei P30 Pro Real-World Camera Test - New Low-Light Champ

The camera features of the Huawei P30 Pro are one of its standout aspects. As we go through the camera modes on this phone, it's clear that they've put a lot of thought and effort into creating an excellent photography experience. We're starting with the main camera and telephoto camera, which is optically stabilized unlike their previous model, the May 20 Pro. In video recording, the P30 Pro excels in both 4k and 1080p, outperforming its predecessor. However, it's not just about the technical specifications; they've also introduced some unique features that are sure to impress photographers.

One of the most exciting aspects of this camera is the periscope camera, which they're calling the "5x" or "10x" hybrid zoom lens. This allows for incredible flexibility and a wide range of shots, from regular to close-up and even extreme macro photography. The five times optical zoom is particularly impressive, and I'm excited to see how it performs in real-world scenarios. On top of that, the 10 times hybrid zoom offers an additional level of versatility, although it starts to get blurry beyond that point.

The P30 Pro also boasts four cameras, including a time-of-flight sensor that's not quite a camera but does offer depth information. This is Huawei's take on the concept of a multi-camera setup, which has become increasingly popular in recent years. By using a time-of-flight sensor, they're able to capture more detailed information about their subject and create some truly remarkable results.

But what really sets this phone apart from others in its class is its ability to produce excellent low-light shots. They've introduced a feature called night mode, which allows you to take one shot with up to 20-second exposure and then adjusts the brightness and contrast to ensure a well-exposed image. This is particularly useful when shooting in extremely dark environments, where hand shake can be a major issue. Additionally, they've opted for an RY sensor instead of traditional RGB colors, which allows for increased sensitivity and better low-light performance.

To demonstrate just how effective this camera is at capturing low-light shots, I'm going to test it out here in my hotel room. I'll start by turning off all the lights and using only the ambient light from the window. This will give us a good idea of just how well the P30 Pro can handle extreme darkness. Here are the results: the camera sees an image that's far more detailed than what my human eye can pick up, even in complete darkness. But I'm curious to see if this translates into improved low-light performance. Next, I'll turn on the night mode and capture a single frame with 20-second exposure. The result is a stunning image that's both well-exposed and incredibly detailed. It's clear that the P30 Pro has truly earned its reputation as one of the best camera phones on the market.

As we've seen in this article, the Huawei P30 Pro's camera features are some of its strongest selling points. From optical stabilization to a periscope camera with 5x and 10x zoom capabilities, there's no shortage of exciting features here. Whether you're an avid photographer or just someone who likes to take good pictures, this phone is sure to impress.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso while we just came out with their p30 pro and i just did a video on the battery test which you might have seen but now i think it's time to do a camera test because the camera is kind of crazy and i think we can compare to get some other phones so today i'm into a real world camera sets where i wander around at this case the streets of london because i'm here after paris for the launch event and just kind of use the phone as i normally would take a bunch of photos compared to other flagship devices out there and just see what are they what they all look like when we're all done but we do have a treat today as i happen to be in london shafts here so PSAPs can enjoy me we're gonna go wander around and it's it's I think for the other video I took you around Brooklyn and New York so now it's your turn you're gonna take me around London you don't actually you don't actually live here well it's fine I'm gonna just follow him anyway first thing we're gonna do is head to a cafe but real quick I want to talk about the camera so on the back of the camera we have our 20 megapixel F 2.2 0.6 times ultra wide camera I like it for landscape shots and it's great for when you're too close to something to get it all in frame with the normal camera interesting enough comparing it to the s10 plus is 0.5 times ultra wide you'll notice it's just a bit less wide than that then we have our main 40 megapixel F 1.6 camera and an 8 megapixel F 3.45 x telephoto camera that we'll talk about more later coffee and we're gonna have brunch and I guess we can test some close-ups by taking photos of our coffee and our food as you do main camera and the telephoto both finally have oh is so the lens is optically stabilized instead of just electronically and in video it's a huge improvement for both 4k and 1080p over the May 20 Pro which wasn't very good well the new features about this that everybody's kind of excited about and I've been posting on like Twitter and Instagram and stuff and it's kind of just blowing people's minds including mine is the periscope camera as they're calling it it's a telephoto camera but we have a 5 times optical zoom and then we have a 10 times hybrid zoom then we can go all the way up to 50 times with digital zoom now the I find that the five times is amazing and I'm really excited that we have something more than just two three was cool but I like five even better honestly cuz it just means more shots that I can get and then the 10 times actually not bad at all after that it starts to get a little blurry but the fact that you can even go 250 times is kind of fun people are calling it the creeper cam with good reason but it's just cool to have that because I can get so many more shots with the wide the regular and then those two extra angles 5 and 10 assists on the back of this phone we do actually have four cameras right it's not just the telephone of the wide and the regular we also have while it's technically not a camera a time-of-flight sensor now they divined this is like instead of Nokia's five camera approach to try to get as much depth information as they can they use a time-of-flight sensor which is essentially a depth camera to get as much information as they can there's another Sun is set and it's time to take low-light photos now just like the p20 and the may 20 series we have a larger sensor in the p30 than most smartphones have in them and because of that it tends to let in more light than they do now I like think it is it's the hardware is what Huawei uses as their kind of secret sauce this software is what pixel uses and sang some kind of uses a little bit of both and they all three tend to do a pretty good job and also there's a good chance to test out one of my favorite features about Huawei phones is that they have night mode now night mode actually lets you take a one-shot that's four to twenty seconds exposure and actually it uses machine learning to negate your hand shake so it takes one frame and then it makes sure all of the other ones match up to it and then it heightens the exposure in places that need it and drops it in others to give you a really well exposed shot okay so staff handed off back to where he lives which is not in London but I'm back in my hotel room and the reason that is because I want to actually test the extreme low light of this camera and compare it to the other ones because while we did something kind of interesting with the camera that I explained in this act but this is really the only place that I can control the light and get it down that low to be able to test what I want one more thing while we did with the p30 that is unique is they went with an R Y sensor instead of RGB like most cameras so that's red yellow blue instead of red green blue now the idea behind this was that yellow being a combination of green and red kind of lets in more light and is more sensitive than just a green of photo site and should make for better low-light photos while it isn't too noticeable here in this photo let's turn off all the lights in here and now only use the ambient light coming in from my hotel room window here is what my a 7-3 sees and here is what the phones see and finally what happens if we use night mode on the p30 Pro and the equivalents as well there you guys real little camera test of the p30 pro let me note you guys think in the comments below of this video of this camera test I tried to add a lot more photos and do a little bit more with the photos because you guys asked for that and I'm trying to take your feedback and improve so if you have any other feedback constructive feedback don't be mean in the comments below I will check it out and try to improve in the next one otherwise though if you guys like this video please thumbs over share it's greatly appreciated and if you want more videos like this please check out my channel and subscribe to that if you like what
