The Thrill of Driving a 720 Horsepower M5
Now that I have to drive on the right side of the car, which is still quite weird for me, I've always had to get used to that. But driving an M2 with a four-wheel-drive sport setup is an amazing experience, especially with its all-wheel drive system. The torquey sound of the engine is not very convincing, but it picks up really well. I feel like I'm driving a motorcycle with a sidecar, which is a weird sensation to sit on the right side of the car. The little brake squeal you heard is from the carbon ceramics we have in our M3 as well, and it's just basically if you use them a lot and if you use them well then at a certain point they start making that sound, but it's nothing to be worried about apparently.
As I took the car for a spin, I was impressed by its launch control feature. With four-wheel drive sport, we were able to do a perfect launch, and our friend Bartine managed to clock in a 2.9-second zero-to-100 time in the old man POV, which is very impressive. The M5 is already quick on paper, but with a tune like this, it's truly effortless. I have to remind myself to check my speed regularly because the stock M5 is already so fast, and then with a tune like this, it's just plain crazy.
One of the most impressive features of our 720 horsepower AC Schnitzer M5 was its quarter-mile time. We measured 10.6 seconds, which is half a second quicker than the stock M5 we tested. To put that into perspective, that's actually the same time as an Aventador SVJ Lamborghini! I can see why my friend Shock decided to come all the way from the UK to enjoy his new ride in Germany.
But what really sets this car apart is its high-speed performance. With 720 horsepower, it accelerates like a dream at high speeds. The acceleration from 250 to 300 kilometers per hour is just amazing. Even with the limited top speed of our test route, the M5 was able to pull off incredible shifts and accelerate out of corners with ease.
We also measured the car's 0-200 performance, which clocked in a respectable 6.6 seconds. While it may not be as quick as some other cars on the market, its raw power and handling make up for it. I have to admit that I was initially considering getting an M5 CS myself, but after seeing how comfortable and feature-rich this car is, I think I'll stick with my own 740 horsepower version.
One final point worth mentioning is the piggyback tune used on this M5. Unlike some other tunes that can become unreliable or underperform when the engine gets hot, our AC Schnitzer box performed flawlessly throughout our test drive. We didn't notice any significant decrease in performance as the engine temperature increased, which was a welcome surprise.
As I concluded my time with the 720 horsepower M5, I have to say that it's been an absolute pleasure driving this car. The combination of everyday comfort and high-performance capabilities is just incredible. Whether you're cruising down the highway or carving up the track, this car handles like a dream. that we are able to feature this beautiful m5 on our channel today uh i'm going to show you around it i'm going to show you the mulch that ashok has made to his car i'm going to show you the spec he like 20 000 pounds i believe and uh it is quite expensive but that does mean that you get every possible option on your m5 which is very nice now the spec itself very very tasteful dunnington gray on the outside which does suit the car very well i think the lci you know with the new lights the bmw laser lights with that blue accent in there it is a very good looking car if you ask me let me know in the comments what you think about this spec especially with those wheels our shock also got these 863m lightweight wheels these save around seven kilos per corner and you also get the m drivers package and carbon ceramic brakes with that ultimate pack so that saves weight even further around that we've got michelin pilot sport cup to connect tires ashok also takes this car to the track he's actually here in germany to drive on the nurburgring so he's going there tonight and after that they are also going to spa to do a track day with this car so he definitely uses it well he is also a heart and emergency surgeon so he needs a car that is fast and safe in all conditions so yeah pretty much the best choice very very fast and of course you've got the mx drive for some all-wheel drive grip in wet conditions so very very cool car and uh man i love this spec i think these wheels they suit the m5 really well i i don't think i've seen an m5 with these wheels yet but i do believe that you know it's a it's a very racy look quite like it and then at the rear we've got an ac schnitzer roof spoiler here carbon roof as i said a little spoiler here as well and then we've got a stock exhaust but i shock also got the ac schnitzer exhaust but that is going on later and we've got a very cool vanity plate my 21 acs still wish we could do that in the netherlands but we can't they tax everything in the netherlands but they don't allow you to spec your own license plate which is basically a tax that everyone would like to have anywho the 4.4 liter v8 by turbo with the carbon engine cover which is also part of that ultimate pack and stock we've got 625 horsepower and 750 newton meters of torque with this ac schnitzel tune we've got 720 horsepower and 850 newton meters of torque oh that is nice yeah so the ac schnitzer a shock went for that because as i said he's a surgeon and he can't have his car dying on him uh because it has a tune on it he just wants the car to work at all times he also likes the warranty that ac schnitzer offer and the fact that you know it's so linked with bmw and uh it's a very safe tune of course but it does work so uh yeah that is a good thing especially if you depend on your car like a surgeon does so let's check out the interior because it has a very very cool spec as you guys know we are big fans of tartufo on the interior which is such a nice color absolutely love this pack it is perfect with contrast stitching on the dash as well with the leather and the beautiful m5 seats which are super comfy yeah this is how you spec a car nice suede alcantara on the roof as well the bowers and wilkins diamond audio also part of the ultimate pack ventilated and heated seats of course so yeah it is a fully fully loaded m5 competition really nice this is actually the third m5 i shock owns so he owned two pre-lcis and now he's got the facelift version and uh well he drove them back to back for a long time so i really trust his opinion on it and he says that the lci is a really big improvement over the pre facelift um apparently this one is much more comfortable and refined so some consumer advice for you guys also a big screen right there and well let's start it up sound is stock bad not great i do understand why a shock got the ac schnitzer exhaust that does add a nice edge to the car alright so let's take it for a drive now of ultimately went for the daily usability and the comfort of a competition which i really understand now another thing you usually have with these piggyback tunes so uh an ac schnitzer box is that as well is that uh when they get hot the engine when the engine gets hot the performance decreases and they don't really deliver anymore or they only deliver the performance for like 15 or 20 seconds at a time we didn't really notice that with this tuning so that is good as well it did really perform all the time which is great so ashok thank you so much for taking your car to us it has been my honor
