**Mid Pond Raceway: Our First Laps**

We're finally here at Mid Pond Raceway, a track in Alabama that's supposed to be very scenic and exciting. As we prepare to take our first laps, I'm feeling a bit apprehensive due to a sore back, which has been bothering me all morning. I've been spending the day watching other drivers and just getting a feel for the car, making sure everything feels good before I get out on the track. The track looks wide and has some pretty sharp corners, as well as rumble strips that we're supposed to watch out for.

As we stage up at the starting line, our guide tells us that everyone is doing a solo lap to get acclimated to the track. We decide to do the same, just hanging back and taking it easy while we learn the layout of the track. I'm enjoying shifting through the gears, especially in mid-corner, where I can really feel the car drift and rotate. My favorite gear is third, which makes me feel like I'm drifting around a corner with ease.

Just as we're getting comfortable on the track, our guide announces that it's time for the water cup challenge. This time, however, there's a twist: the driver has to hold onto the full cup of water until we get back into the car. It's not exactly the most comfortable thing, but I'm determined to see it through. As I try to hold on tight without spilling a drop, I realize that this is actually harder than I thought it would be.

With the cup challenge complete, we decide to take one final lap around the track before calling it a day. As we make our way back to the car, I notice that my car is getting hotter by the minute, and I'm also feeling quite soaked from all the excitement on the track. Despite the challenges, I had an amazing time driving at Mid Pond, and I'm excited to see what the rest of our racing adventure has in store.

**The Road Ahead**

Now that we've finished up our laps at Mid Pond, it's time to hit the road and make our way to Tampa, where we'll be competing in the L Mullets event. Tomorrow promises to be a long day, with an 8 or 9 hour drive ahead of us, but we're all excited to get behind the wheel of our trusty Crown Vic and take on the competition.

Of course, this means that we won't have as much time to focus on racing at Mid Pond today. We've decided to cut our stay short and make the most of our time on the track before embarking on the long journey ahead. As a result, there's not as much footage from us today, but I promise you'll still get plenty of excitement from Mike's solo laps.

never had the chance to make it out w all right we're going out for our very first laps at Mid Pond Raceway uh very cool track Alabama very Scenic I'm very excited I think this is where I G but I'm not sure let me check and wait and watch see if I can hop out behind someone heard it's very bumpy but it looks uh fairly cool I'm I'm a little little bit just uh my own little world today my back's been really bothering me so kind of been chilling for the morning just watching people drive just going to grip around the track first make sure everything feels good with the car learn the track a little bit some pretty wide Corners here feel the bumps few rumble strips I've been told to watch out for get some heat in the tires this is a pretty long one here's another one with the inside we were told to watch out for our oil pan they just repaved a bunch of the track for us well I don't know if it was for us but right before we got here so that's nice of them so uh less chances I guess to smash up the car compared to normal looks like everyone's staging up here we'll just do a solo lap and hang back and just try to get acclimated all right so first laps let's let's check this place out it's a fun track lot going on going to take me a little while to get acclimated see how it likes shifting a little bit happier a little bit faster but not really necessary feels cool though I I love shifting mid Corner that was fun good fun good times I like the third gear it feels really cool cuz then we like drift with angle and frustration very fun good time all right so we're doing another water cup challenge but this time they're making the driver hold the water so on a track that I've done like one lap on we're going to have to hold a full cup of water let's see how this is going to go you doing The Cup challenge let's do it would you mind holding until we get on track yeah sure cool you spilling it I'm trying my hardest not to sorry it's not part of my tactic or anything to make you spill it before I have to hold it I promise it would be wise for you not oh sorry yeah no it's a real aggressive clutch sorry no worries the tune's a little off too so it bucks sometimes so much when do I start uh uh now well I can give it to you when you like yeah I need to be in the right gear okay so I have to drive one-handed we might go flying off track wow that was a lot of water on me I think the harder part of the challenge is the driving with one hand not necessarily the idea holding the cup wh hey we linked it straight onehanded that was fun almost at the full because tomorrow is the freedom no it's not the freedom 500 it's a 2.4 hours of L mullets and uh me and Colette are going to be piloting a Crown Vic taking home the win and winning some sweet prizes
