**A Festive Focal Point: My Christmas Decorations**
Like BAM like that is gonna be my focal point for Christmas, and Toys in the box is super nostalgic, pull from like the 70s and the 80s. I even pulled out some old shopping carts filled with gifts and toys and wrapping paper and rollerskates - you know, as if you were shopping for them right then and there. I want people to look at it and think "oh wow, that's me included" because I got some of those things like I remember waking up and having that round crayon caddy with a pencil sharpener or crayon sharpener, and being all about the nostalgia.
**DIY Delights**
Many of my DIY projects are actually made from vintage items. For instance, one of my favorites is my love for jewelry trees - you can buy them, but I like to make my own using scrap or broken jewelry. I mean, I would have an entire wall of them if I could, but they're kind of hard to find. This particular tree was found at a flea market, and the one I made myself is actually covered in velvet because, well, everything needs velvet, right? To fill in the empty spots, I added some pom-poms because, why not? Here's a little guy that I made using a planter - it started with just a candle, but then I plugged in this tree and got creative with my glue gun.
**Family Traditions**
I'm a big believer in Christmas bringing out the creativity in people. My mom was super creative, and her love for Christmas is still inspiring me today. She made these weirdo robot things that are definitely one of my favorites. And then there's my beloved reindeer - it's a giant Christmas card 10 measuring tape with spoons for its little face. I think it's because she loved making those little robots when my dad first came into her life.
**Grandma's Gift**
One of my favorite decorations is actually something my grandma made for my mom, specifically for their first Christmas together. It's a beautiful tree skirt that I just can't get enough of. And, of course, I have some ornaments that I made using dollar store beanies - they're painted with faces on them, and the more you look at it, you'll find something new.
**New Arrivals**
This year, I added two new Santas to my collection, one in a hot rod, because who doesn't love a cool Santa? And then there's this little guy that cracked me up - he was found at the flea market and had comments saying that he's my new boyfriend. Okay, maybe not exactly what he intended, but I like him just the same. Last year, I discovered a beautiful vintage aluminum tree with extra branches in an ombre color scheme - it was like getting a two-for-one deal! And let's not forget my black tree, which is covered in beaded sequined ornaments and flashing lights. It's like a mini-Vegas up in here.
**The Pink Tree**
I have to give credit where credit is due - I've been collecting tinsel trees and bottle brush trees for years, but this year, I decided to tone it down (very loosely) by adding some pink to the mix. It's still my favorite color, and I just can't help myself when it comes to decorating in rainbow order. My friend ROYGBIV is always making me laugh with her colorful creations.
**The True Spirit of Christmas**
For me, Christmas isn't just about decorations; it's about creating memories for my family and kids. We joke that I use them as an excuse to make this a winter wonderland, but really, it's all about them. I want them to always remember the magic of this time of year.
**A Special Thanks**
Lastly, I want to thank everyone who's subscribed to handmade for more home tours like this - it means the world to me!
