what do we have here this is oh that's for me it's personal but over here this is what the keyboard and mouse so we are looking at a magic mouse but yes we have the magic keyboard as well and we also have magic trackpad oh this thing comes with a nice microfiber cloth this is the same one that we see when the xdr display and of course usb cable paperwork and stickers we know it's crazy guys this is like all the extra stuff in my mac unboxing like this is it you know apple simple packaging so we can put all that to the side and uh here goes the bad boy right here and we do have the power cable tucked away right inside of here so i think it's kind of important to have this huh and voila guys here we have all the contents inside of the box of the brand new 27 inch imac and i know you guys see it right you guys see the screen that's probably the first biggest change i want to talk about and that is that nano texture display this is that 5k display but with the new nano texture that we've seen with the new xdr display now we're going to be seeing that as an option for the 27 inch imac and that's dope because this isn't even like the imac pro this is the standard imac now for those of you who aren't familiar with the nano texture display basically it's it kind of works like a matte display and we're going to talk about that nano texture display a little bit more in a second but i want to get to powering this guy on and going over some of the other changes that you'll find with it but before we go ahead and power this thing on in the back we do have some ports that we got to talk about we've got your headphone jack sd card slot four usb type a ports two thunderbolt 3 ports and of course an ethernet port there's definitely more than enough ports in here all right cookie so we're all set up we're good we're done i think we're done setting up guys so first thing we actually have to talk about is the design this is a standard imac design we've seen this for years now i think a lot of people thought that this thing would come in a completely new look we've seen a lot of renders we a lot of people had their hopes up it's clearly not what we've got going on over here but maybe apple is saving that for when they have their own chip inside of here and they're all apple all the way save the redesign for that maybe so we are rocking the standard imac look here with the new nano texture display uh but in terms of the specs that this guy has so we're looking at a 10 core intel core i9 processor clocked at 3.6 gigahertz 32 gigs of ram and what's nice is that these macs can now go all the way up to 128 gigs so if you want to go ahead and make this thing a powerhouse of a machine that can just handle pretty much anything you want to throw at it it's going to be able to be configured up to 128 gigs and in terms of graphical power we got amd radeon pro graphics in here with 16 gigs of v ram so we got lots of power there and we're looking at i guess let's see the storage is one terabyte but these imacs can now go up to eight terabytes of ssd and you will no longer find the standard hard drives on these anymore i think apple is now officially done with the standard hard drive so no more slow moving drives now i did mention that this thing is rocking an intel processor and chances are this is going to be the last imac with an intel processor so it's a dying breed over here we do know apple is going on to the arm side of things they're going to be making their own silicon chips so it's going to be interesting to see how those new macs perform considering we have never seen one of apple's chips in a desktop computer like this we know that these kind of machines are usually used for bigger tasks whether that's video editing photo editing working with audio you name it this thing is probably going to be able to handle it but we do know that for intel side of things we don't know how apple's going to perform chances are they're not going to take steps backwards so is this like the imac to buy if you want to go in knowing what you're dealing with chances are yes usually when you have new chips compatibility with software is going to be something you want to keep an eye on i don't know how all the apps that are available for mac are going to operate with apple's new chips it's going to be something where as a tech community we're going to have to really keep an eye on and just kind of see how it all works out but these intel based macs might want some really serious consideration now for me i look at this machine and see something that's really powerful and you kind of take a step back and you're like well if this thing can get so powerful why do we have something like the imac pro well i feel like this is a more entry-level mac i believe these start what did you start at let me let me be right about this so you can get a 27 inch starting at 17.99 and you can configure this thing all the way up to like eight grand or something like that but there's also the smaller 21.5 inch model so if you want something a little bit smaller a little bit more compact those start at like 1100 bucks so there isn't as much of a barrier getting one of these guys compared to the imac pro which starts at five grand but this i feel like it's a great starting point for someone who's maybe looking to get something a little bit more powerful in the mac world but they want some kind of like room to grow this is the imac that you want to take into consideration you've got the 5k display you've got the power behind it you've got the ram like i said it can handle a lot but i'm gonna have to test it out personally i got to give it the uac treatment jay we gotta put this thing through its paces throw some footage at it and whatnot you know the deal man but that is how i view this 27 inch imac as well as the 21.5 inch it's gonna be the kind of imac that you just kind of like have in the home for potentially somewhere without being able to get some really awesome audio you can definitely use the mics that are built into these and speaking of audio apple actually optimized the speakers here so that you can get better quality out of these let's actually open up apple music jay give me something to listen to jay hello lo-fi okay okay safe if you guys can see jay's face right now you can feel the bass yeah so that's something that applewood actually really worked on they worked on getting the low ends and this is actually throughout the entire volume range so at the lower range you really get to you know you still hear that bass and everything but at the higher ends of the volume you start to hear that instrument separation you start to be able to pick up on sounds that you don't usually hear at the lower end you start being able to pick them out and you kind of hear everything across the spectrum apple has been doing an amazing job when it comes to their speakers their microphones so when it comes to audio these machines apple's honestly just crushing it absolutely crushing it i definitely feel like they're leading the industry when it comes to those categories like i said they also have the nano texture display in terms of like the creative side apple makes like honestly the best panels they have the best panels on their computers color accurate looks beautiful with a nano texture display this is actually something that can be placed just about anywhere in your environment because it does not reflect light we have so many lights in the man cave all over and reflections are no joke uh so we don't actually have to worry about that here the light doesn't bounce off of this thing the same way it's like a matte texture display but different so if you still want that nice vibrant display whether you're doing video editing or photo editing or you just want to consume content and enjoy it you're going to be able to do that just about anywhere you want in the house but can we talk a scared cookie but can we talk about the biggest upgrade that 1080p camera guys is now rocking a 1080p webcam and this is like the right time to do this right because with covid going on and people are stuck at home spending hours and hours on video conference calls it is finally time we see an upgraded webcam so you know what this means this is great for the imac but i'm looking at macbook pros next year imac pros next year i'm expecting all the things to get the 1080p webcam and thanks to the t2 chip that's inside of this that's the chip that allows you to say hey siri it controls a lot of different functions within the mac sorry siri stop listening please but with that t2 chip the camera is optimized to detect your face so when you're on a video conference or you're
