WORLD DEBUT - Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS - NAIAS 2015

I'm Shi, and we're at the North American Auto Show (NAS) in Detroit, where I'm currently taking a look at Porsche's world premiere here at this show. We're on the Porsche stand, and the car that caught my attention is the 911 991 Targa 4 GTS.

The Targa variant of the 911 has been around before, and one of its notable features is the glass canopy at the rear, which lifts up and back to reveal the roof. This design element adds a bit of weight to the car, so Porsche introduced the GTS variant last year as a solution to this problem. The GTS model boasts slightly more power than the standard 911, with 430 brake horsepower. It also comes with more aggressive performance parts around the car and a stiffer suspension setup for a more involving drive.

Some might argue that the Targa 4 GTS is the most pointless variant of the 911, as it brings in extra weight only to cancel it out with its increased power output. However, this can be a selling point for those who want the sporty drive or simply the convertible experience without the full roof. The GTS is also available as a separate model from the Targa, which offers an alternative take on the 911's design.

If you do decide to go with the GTS, you'll get to enjoy its aggressive performance parts and stiffer suspension setup. On the other hand, if you're not set on having the sporty drive or convertible experience, there is a standard Targa model available as well. The GTS does look pretty good in red, especially when paired with contrasting silver roof sections.

One thing that's interesting about Porsche's approach to building these variants is how easily they can be customized and combined. I had the chance to visit their production line last year on my tour around Europe, and it was fascinating to see just how many different options and variations of the car can be made and pulled together. It all comes down to ticking the right boxes when building the cars.

As I take a closer look at the Targa 4 GTS, I'm struck by its design, particularly from certain angles where the history of the Targa roof is on full display. The way it all comes together looks pretty nice on this latest version of the car. What do you guys think about this new model? Take a quick glance at the interior of the car, and you'll see that it's very nice indeed.

Finally, I have to say that the Targa 4 GTS looks absolutely fantastic in bright red on display here at the Acura stand. It's a great addition to Porsche's lineup, and I'm sure many enthusiasts will appreciate its unique take on the classic 911 design.
