Bujji is a Chinese manufacturer that has come up repeatedly in publications all over the web because they make unique phones with decent specs and are relatively cheap. In a previous video, I mentioned that the Bujji S60 was similar to the Cat S60, a rugged Android phone meant for camping, off-roading, construction sites, and other adventurous activities. However, the new GS 90 takes a similar rugged style and adds some interesting features while keeping the price pretty low.
The device is aimed at the rugged market and can be told at first glance that it's pretty bulky and made out of a titanium alloy. Along with the heft, the device has serious durability ratings. You've probably heard of IP ratings, and lately, many high-end smartphones are coming with IP 68, which means they can remain underwater for up to 30 minutes. The Bujji GS 90 is IP69K rated, meaning it can survive up to a meter of water for up to two weeks. It can also survive high-pressure water, making it ideal for industries where everything needs to be sterilized after use.
Beyond the water and dust rating, the device is also military spec for drops, shock, etc., and has Gorilla Glass 4 on the display. The display shows a 6.1-inch FHD Plus IPS screen above which there's an 8-megapixel F/2.0, 90-degree field of view front-facing camera. The front-facing camera looks good, and so do the microphones down. Moving around the device, we have a programmable button on top that can be used to open apps or launch shortcuts. A USB-C port is also present at the bottom for charging and data transfer.
The Bujji GS 90 is powered by a MTK chipset paired with six gigs of RAM for storage. It has 128 gigs SSD, and a micro SD card slot to expand memory if needed. For software, the device runs Android 8.1 and has a skin on it, along with pre-installed apps such as a game mode to block interruptions during gaming, their own translation app, their own browser, face unlock for locking the phone, music app, pedometer, sound recording app, and a tool bag full of useful items like a compass, decibel meter, leveling tool, gradient tool, height measurement tool, magnifier, protractor, plumb bob, and barometer.
The device was launched on Kickstarter and blew past its original goal of $10,000 to over $350,000. There is definitely some kind of market for this idea. The Kickstarter is now closed, but the device will go on sale on February 21st on Aliexpress at $2.99 for the device by itself and $399 for a package that includes some mods. To check out what mods are included in the package, you can look at the link provided below.
The rugged aspect and price of this phone make it compelling if you're in the market for a super rugged phone like this, even if you ignore the mods entirely. Having three hundred dollars for a phone that's basically as tough as a camping tent is worth considering. If you plan to use your normal phone extensively while working outdoors or going on adventures, bringing this phone instead could be beneficial. This device essentially gives you an extra phone that you can take with you and switch SIM cards between it and your regular phone for use.
Overall, Bujji has come up with a solid product here that should appeal to those who value ruggedness and affordability in their smartphones. The fact that the price is so low for such a durable device makes it an attractive option for anyone considering this kind of phone.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enbujji is a Chinese manufacturer that has come up over and over again in publications all over the web because they make some kind of unique phones that have decent specs and are relatively cheap now I did a video not someone go on the digi s60 you can check out below but I mentioned there that it was a bit similar in a lot of ways to the cat s60 a phone that came out right before it probably just a coincidence of course but that was a rugged Android phone meant for camping off-roading construction sites and other adventurous type activities one of the big differences between the cat s60 and the digi s60 was the price and that's no different here with the new new GS 90 which is clearly in the same family as the s60 it takes a similar rugged style and adds some interesting features to it while keeping the price pretty low now do G send me device and as is these on this channel I figure I try to do a complete walkthrough and for you guys if you're not familiar complete walkthrough is where I fought to go through every single feature I possibly can so that you guys are better prepared it should you be in the market to actually go buy one you'll know what it does what it doesn't do etc now with that said there is a lot to go through so let's get started with the styling so as I said the device is aimed at the rugged market and you can tell at first glance the device is pretty bulky and apparently made out of a titanium alloy but along with the heft the device has some serious durability ratings now you've probably heard of IP ratings and a lately a lot of high-end smartphones are coming with IP 68 which means that they can remain under 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes well the do GS 90 is ip69k rated that means it can survive up to a metre of water for up to two weeks in addition to that it can also survive high pressure water so if you work in an industry that everything has to be sterilized to some degree when you enter you can hose this guy down to clean it without an issue now beyond water and dust rating it's also military spec for drops shock etc and it has Gorilla Glass 4 on the display that displays a six point one eight inch F HD Plus IPS display that above it has a 8-megapixel f 2.0 90 degree field of view front-facing camera here the front-facing camera looks like and the microphones down now moving around the device we have a programmable button that you can customize on the Left we also have on the right our power button and our volume buttons at the bottom we have a covered USB C port and at the top we have nothing then when we the back we have our dual camera it's a 16 megapixel F 2.0 aperture with phase detection autofocus pair with an 8 megapixel camera that they use for software tricks like portrait mode in addition to the aperture portrait mode we have the terrifying beauty mode a monochrome mode a panoramic mode and a pro mode that lets you adjust camera settings like ISO exposure etc manually for video it'll shoot up to 1080p and there doesn't seem to be any stabilization really here's what it looks like I'm gonna tell you right now the camera isn't great but as a rugged device I'd say that it probably isn't a priority for most of the target market and here are what the speakers sound like now something interesting here on the back though are these magnetic connectors now these are used for attaching a collection of outdoor themed mods there are a total of four available at the moment the first of which is this walkie-talkie mod which connects to the back of the device and then can be used to communicate with any other RF device that works on the 400 or 480 megahertz range the cool thing is that if you're out somewhere where you maybe don't have cell signal you can use this communicate with other people out there between 6 to 10 kilometers away that either have the same device with this mod on it or any RF device that can access those same frequencies next they have a five thousand milliamp battery pack that brings the total milliamps between it and the device to ten thousand and fifty milliamps since the device itself has 5050 and they'll supposedly bring you to a total of four days of use we also have a gaming controller attachment that I figure any gamer would appreciate an answer joystick buttons and the things you'd expect and finally we have a quote-unquote night-vision camera add-on now this isn't real like infrared lights night vision like you could see on an actual spy like night-vision goggles but it is a Sony sensor that can capture more light and there's a 131 degree field of view powering the device we have a media tech p60 chipset paired with six gigs of ram for storage it has 128 gigs SSD and a micro SD card slot to expand the memory if needed as for software the device is running Android 8.1 and we do have a little bit of a skin on it and a couple of apps that are pre-installed first we have a game mode to block interruptions and playing games their own translation app their own browser a face unlock app to lock the phone with a music app a pedometer a sound recording app and a tool bag full of things I imagine you might need while doing rugged stuff in the tool bag there is included a compass a decibel meter a tool for leveling photos a gradient tool a way of measuring height that seems pretty complicated a magnifier which is just the camera zoom apparently a protractor a plumb bob and a barometer now doozy managed to launch this device on Kickstarter and blow past the original goal of ten thousand dollars to over three hundred and fifty thousand dollars or so so there is definitely some kind of market that likes this idea now the Kickstarter is over right now but the device is going on sale on the 21st of February on Aliexpress at the link below for $2.99 for the device by itself and 399 for the package that includes some of the mods now you can check out the link below in order to figure out which mods there are cuz they're telling me that they might change them so you just go look for yourself and see if it's what you need I have to say the rugged aspect and the price is really what makes this a compelling phone if you were in that market even if you ignore the mods entirely like they're kind of cool but like you don't really need them even just have three hundred dollars for a super rugged phone like this it might be worth it for somebody who's you know has a nicer phone and doesn't want to maybe bring it to work where they work in a construction or something where they're gonna probably break their phone and then also if let's say you want to use it just as a second phone to go camping with if you do that a lot you rock climb you camp whatever you do something that's very adventurous II you can bring this phone instead of your normal phone you take your SIM card out of your normal phone and you can put it in this phone because it's unlocked and honestly it's basically for the price of a really nice camping tent you can now also have a camping phone that you bring with you let me don't you guys think of this concept of these rugged phones of this phone in particular in the comments below love to hear from you guys otherwise though if you like what you see here please thumbs up it or share its greatly appreciate it also check out the
