December BooklyBox Unboxing!

The December BookLis Box: A Holiday Delight

For those who may not know, BookLis is a subscription box service that sends a curated selection of books and other literary-themed items to readers each month. The December book was "Please Do Not Disturb" by Robert Clancy, which told the story of Charlie, a curious boy with a dangerous dictaphone habit, who eavesdrops on an eccentric guest at a hotel in Africa as the country prepares for its annual leader's visit.

One of the things that sets BookLis apart from other subscription box services is their donation component. With every box sold, they donate books to those in need, and this month's donation went to Malawi. The company works with Books for Africa to make a positive impact on literacy rates around the world.

When I opened my December book, I was excited to see what other goodies were inside. First up were some adorable Christmas-themed socks, which I couldn't wait to wear on Christmas Day. They were thick and warm, just like I like them, and had snowflakes and reindeer all over them - so cute! Next, I found a candy cane pen that was shaped like a candy cane and had a little snowman waving at me from the side. It was such a fun surprise.

The tea bags were another delightful addition to my box. This month's selection included Earl Grey tea, which is one of my favorites, and Zen tea, a green tea that I'd been wanting to try. I love drinking tea during the holiday season because it keeps me warm and cozy when the weather gets cold outside. And speaking of cozy, the bookmark in my book was a real treat. It was double-sided, just like all their bookmarks are, and had a beautiful quote on one side from Mark Twain that said, "A full belly is little worth where the mind is starved." I love quotes like this - they always make me think.

Finally, there was the book itself, which was wrapped up in a nice package with a ribbon tied around it. As I unwrapped it, I noticed that the cover had a snowflake design on it, and the title "Please Do Not Disturb" was embossed in gold lettering. It looked so elegant and sophisticated - just what I love about BookLis.

The story within the book was intense and intriguing. It told the tale of Charlie, who worked as an eavesdropper at a hotel in Africa, where his boss was preparing to meet with its leader. As the country teetered on the brink of chaos, Jack, a petty criminal, smuggled something into the hotel that would change everyone's lives forever. The story was told from multiple perspectives, which I love - it adds an extra layer of complexity and depth to the narrative.

Overall, I was so impressed with my December BookLis box. Each month just gets better and better, and this one was no exception. I loved the holiday theme and the adorable socks that came with it. And, of course, the book itself was a real treat - I'm excited to dive in and see where the story takes me.
