Be quiet! Dark Rock Slim Review -- Last Game Hunter

The Be Quiet Dark Rock Slim Cooler Review: A Comprehensive Analysis

I have to tell you I thought the Coolermaster two one two was quite the cooler for its value and it is I will not tell you not to buy that cooler it did very well in the cooling department if you don't mind noise what I found different now back in the day I used to buy some very expensive is almond coolers but they were still built like this Coolermaster very thin very flimsy type design on the be quiet I almost feel like it's steel it's so strong but yet it's aluminum and design and the build quality is unmatched and I would put this up against any of the top coolers out there for build hands down I do want to test some of the other top coolers against something like this just to see what the real results would be but this cooler so far is probably the best by far build that I've ever owned so though quality absolute positive do I have a con for it well not really the installation on it was actually pretty amazing it does use the original baseplate and so does the AMD cooler the cooler master actually another con on that one is the install is a bit more complicated or a bit more pain in the butt the AMD cooler and the be quiet cooler both using the factory and E backplate made them a joy to install they were very simple very well done love it it was a couple brackets you bolt on which actually made this install beautiful because when you put a cooler on like this you're fighting to get your screwdriver in for the screws well on this one you're not

The Be Quiet Dark Rock Slim Cooler Review: A Comprehensive Analysis

Another thing that I found different now is that plate that you have here on the cooler master is a big piece of aluminum which is cool well on here you actually have a ribbed cooler like a heatsink and then you have your pipes and so on so you can see that be quiet put a lot of thought and time into it the other big pro of the be quiet is the sound I cannot hear that cooler at all so in my office because this is another computer going in here the be quiet will actually be the winner for me that doesn't make it the winner overall it just means it's a damn good cooler I don't worry about heat and I definitely don't have to worry about adding more sound when I'm recording and that to me is worth the $80.00 so guys this is what it comes down to if you're on a budget and you don't need to spend the AMD cooler this is on an AMD system of course this is what it was tested on would be one of your best choices if you're looking for something a little cooler then I would probably just jump to the deep cool that I did a review on before if you're looking for the lighting if you're just looking for a $30 really decent cooler and don't mind the noise then the cooler master - one absolutely what I choose it over the AMD cooler no I would actually use the factory AMD cooler over the - one do even though is a four degree difference just because of how well it cools the other components on the motherboard now if you have really great cooling going through your board due to your case fans and that's not necessary but in most cases this is definitely a plus and much more help needed mom to be quiet

I Have No Cons Whatsoever

The Be Quiet Dark Rock Slim Cooler Review: A Comprehensive Analysis

I have no cons whatsoever the built Bali was amazing the installation was really good the aesthetics the looks the AMD was probably the coolest looking until I took that out of the box and went wow this is sharp looking the chrome logo on top and so on is just a very good-looking cooler and very quiet so guys the winner for me is the be quiet cooler based on sound only if I was to go on a budget I would definitely use the AMD cooler over all of it but because of the sound quality and the build quality it's definitely the cooler of choice for me

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello guys and welcome back in 2020 this is the last game hunter and welcome to the show and today we're going to do a CPU cooler shootout so what we're gonna do we're going to put the dark rocks limb from be quiet against two other competitors now what I decided to do this is going to be a little different was I'm gonna do a factory cooling system and an aftermarket cooling system so for aftermarket I've chosen one of my favorite coolers of all time the cooler master two one two as the two one two for about forty bucks has proven to be probably the best air cooling on a budget the dark rock slim on the other hand is more of a eighty to a hundred dollar cooling system depending on where you are and I want to see how that fares up against that cooler now who's our runner-up our runner-up the factory cooling system is going to be AMD's own Wraith spire which is installed here on the CPU now the wraith spire this is not the LED this is not the square RGB one this is the bare bone stop one you get with the lower end processors now processor of choice and I'll explain why will be the rise in 3200 G why would I choose that processor of course I was going to put a video card in for the review and then I realized wait a minute I want to see something that generates more heat and I figured the GPU and apu in one cooler or one processor would give us that bench test so in this case this has a vegas series video card built in and that should in theory generate some more heat so no video card being added to this test and what we're going to do is we're going to put these three beautiful coolers up against each other and I say beautiful because I gotta say that AMD cooler for a factory is pretty impressive okay guys I'm gonna do a reset here I'm gonna show you room temperature so I'm gonna hit reset so hopefully that shows up there we're 23 degrees Celsius and to be fair for our American or other people 70 three degrees Fahrenheit so in Canada twenty three and anywhere else or wherever else uses Fahrenheit it's 73 degrees why I wanted to show you guys that was the fact that I want to show you the ambient temperature in the room so we know roughly that at least here it's 23 or 73 Fahrenheit and that does play a factor on our cooling systems so let's get right to it let's fire this thing up let's do the Wraiths spire first and start seeing our numbers okay guys so this is the horizon Wraith spire cooler running at 34 degrees Celsius in the bias at just idle so we didn't push the unit in any which way or form this is the stock just sitting idle temperature okay so now we're gonna run pass mark to do all of the you know heating up the processor testing pushing that onboard video and so on now like anything this is going to take a while so I'll be right back okay so we're just finishing the first pass mark test and right now it's just writing it's doing a test on my MDOT too so it's just about finished up our CPU it looks like it topped out at about 41 degrees Celsius which is actually pretty amazing I mean we've pushed it and still maintaining it's okay it did hit 43 so we're gonna say 43 is its top temp on being benchmark and having the hardware pushed including the video so let's move on to the next cooler which will be the cooler master two one two I just wanted to show you guys the install and how cool or not cool a CPU cooler looks on this board and here we have it one thing I want to note is the clearance for RAM so you can see here that there's no problem putting all the RAM in this unit I would move the AMD logo over here for the simple reason that this is actually a bulge out that actually goes all the way down and that would interfere with that socket but other than that if once you move the logo which is easily done by turning it with a maybe a couple screws and the way you turn then you would actually have an ideal cooler as far as mounting anything goes there's no way there's anything the way that is actually very important when it comes to height of course this cooler is very low let's give this some focus okay when it comes to height this cooler is very low as you can see it pretty much isn't a whole lot higher than the RAM itself so in this case this cooler would fit in a micro ATX case or any smaller build you're doing or case it's just not that deep and for so far it's cooling performance I wouldn't rule it out okay so as you can see here the temp for idle on this is thirty degrees so we're definitely down some degrees here on temp just by going to this cooler now let's start it up this is at idle and this is the cooler master two one two so let's now move on to booting the windows launching the benchmark and let's find out what this thing hits yeah they're not gonna pour you a while waiting for the test because this test does take quite a while and I'm not gonna lie not so much fun changing coolers back and forth the one thing I will say though is this cooler is definitely a lot noisier than the AMD cooler the ambi cooler I did not hear it running at all soon as this one gets pushed a little I'm finding there's definite noise there so so far the ambi wins in the quiet category let's move on and we are running at 29 degrees oh it spiked hold on no let it sit for a second okay guys so after pushing the Coolermaster to 1/2 we now know that it is 4 degrees cooler than the AMD Wraith aspire under load ok guys so now it's time for the be quiet dark rock slim I finally installed it so it's finally on there I'll talk about build quality on all these units at the end of this review and what do you got in here of course you get the extra brackets to mount another fan at the rear if you so want to you get a bag marked with these larvae AMD not local but am beyond it and then you get another bag mark with your Intel hardware so one thing that was really nice is how he separated it in the bags and it was well labeled and I gotta say probably it was a decent install we'll get to that next as well so let's fire this up let's get the base temps and then we'll do the benchmark and see what the cooler says at the end of it okay guys we're back with the dark rock slim and we're in the bias now for the just post you know temps in the bias and we're at 29 degrees Celsius making it so far the coolest in this section so far so I smooth the Machine up let's run the benchmark and see the final results I'll give you my overall thoughts on everything and we'll go from there yes one thing I wanted to show you guys which now we're going for an aesthetics as well it's still doing the benchmark so look at the RAM clearance because this is the slim model you have no issue putting any stick of RAM you want in there so far that is a big win on this cooler over them all the didn't finish was something I wanted to talk about on that it was it's just really really nice like what they've done here a nice chrome be quiet logo in there it just looks gorgeous but why I'm doing this right now is listen I'm running a benchmark I can't hear this thing run I'm hearing my other tower you're right up to the fan even the power supply which is actually the straight power 11 650 watt okay so the results are in so 39 degrees was the final after being pushed so let me give you my thoughts because we are talking some price points here and I'll be right back with my overall feel and what you should do depending on what you're doing okay guys so overall the AMD Wraith cooler aspire this cooler actually was overall really really great value especially when you get it as a freebie with your processor and then I'm guess there's the RGB and the LED versions and so on and one thing that I gotta give so here's the cons the cons was it did give up a little in the heat department but not much it gave up an overall average of about 4 degrees that's pretty impressive considering the ballpark thrown at it what I did like about it was the air gets pushed down on this model and it goes across my MDOT - on my motherboard which I found on the other two coolers bm2 was a lot hotter actually funny I don't know why but cooler on this cooler that it was on this cooler that's odd because there is no real downforce of air that I know so the RAM I didn't notice a big punch in the temperatures but I did notice that the RAM was very cool to touch and it's lukewarm to touch with these other two coolers so if you're looking for not spending a lot of money and your AMD cooler comes with the Wraith I guess the Wraith spire I won't call it anything else other than this is a 3rd gen model which might be different than a first or a second gen and I wouldn't know that unless I actually had a older model my buddy may have one maybe I'll get to test it and see what that really comes out to Wraith first hand versus Wraith third gen coolers and see if there's actually a difference because he found his 1500 X Ram pretty warm in this category I found that just 3200 G run very good on this cooler now moving on to the famous cooler master 2 1 2 as we've seen in the results the cooler master 2 1 2 actually competed pretty much head-to-head with the be quiet cooler which is very impressive at a $30 price point Oh a mad seen these on Amazon for about 20 to 30 dollars and I seen these around the 30 dollar mark now on Amazon so price came down so for $30 cooler still one of the best choices out there I am NOT going to say actually in a sense all these coolers did very well and it would really come down to what you're building or you wanting to do now in the case of this cooler where it failed this is where it failed there's so the pros of course were it actually did bring it down four degrees less than this one the final results but and there is a big butt ram support the fan on these is very bulky it comes up quite a bit and your last dim socket that would be near this unless it's a little stick of RAM there's a high chance that it is not going in there or it's gonna be really tight against your cooler and that could be a problem that was one con the other con was the noise which I never even noticed until I start playing with these other two fans the AMD cooler was quite quiet you could hear it but it was quite quiet and it didn't really rev up when needed to be so it stayed pretty consistent very impressive the cooler master on the other hand was like oh and it would like during the bench test when you're pushing it that fan really got loud and I think it may have something to do with the fan blades and a design being so thick that it's gonna give you more of a hollow echoed sound so that was a downside for me when I'm so used to being quiet I don't know that was a yeah throw it was a throw birthday guys now onto the be quiet to be quiet dark rock slim I have to tell you I thought the Coolermaster two one two was quite the cooler for its value and it is I will not tell you not to buy that cooler it did very well in the cooling department if you don't mind noise what I found different now back in the day I used to buy some very expensive is almond coolers but they were still built like this Coolermaster very thin very flimsy type design on the be quiet I almost feel like it's steel it's so strong but yet it's aluminum and design and the build quality is unmatched and I would put this up against any of the top coolers out there for build hands down I do want to test some of the other top coolers against something like this just to see what the real results would be but this cooler so far is probably the best by far build that I've ever owned so though quality absolute positive do I have a con for it well not really the installation on it was actually pretty amazing it does use the original baseplate and so does the AMD cooler the cooler master actually another con on that one is the install is a bit more complicated or a bit more pain in the butt the AMD cooler and the be quiet cooler both using the factory and E backplate made them a joy to install they were very simple very well done love it it was a couple brackets you bolt on which actually made this install beautiful because when you put a cooler on like this you're fighting to get your screwdriver in for the screws well on this one you're not the other thing that was really cool about this the plate that you have here on the cooler master is a big piece of aluminum which is cool well on here you actually have a ribbed cooler like a heatsink and then you have your pipes and so on so you can see that be quiet put a lot of thought and time into it the other big pro of the be quiet is the sound I cannot hear that cooler at all so in my office because this is another computer going in here the be quiet will actually be the winner for me that doesn't make it the winner overall it just means it's a damn good cooler I don't worry about heat and I definitely don't have to worry about adding more sound when I'm recording and that to me is worth the $80.00 so guys this is what it comes down to if you're on a budget and you don't need to spend the AMD cooler this is on an AMD system of course this is what it was tested on would be one of your best choices if you're looking for something a little cooler then I would probably just jump to the deep cool that I did a review on before if you're looking for the lighting if you're just looking for a $30 really decent cooler and don't mind the noise then the cooler master - one - absolutely what I choose it over the AMD cooler no I would actually use the factory AMD cooler over the - one do even though is a four degree difference just because of how well it cools the other components on the motherboard now if you have really great cooling going through your board due to your case fans and that's not necessary but in most cases this is definitely a plus and much more help needed mom to be quiet I have no cons whatsoever the built Bali was amazing the installation was really good the aesthetics the looks the AMD was probably the coolest looking until I took that out of the box and went wow this would definitely use the AMD cooler over all of it but because of the sound quality and the build quality it's definitely the cooler of choice for me because I hope you enjoyed this review of the be quiet dark rock slim I will leave links for each of these coolers to the best that I can find them for you for Amazon and if you wish to purchase any of them go ahead you will not be disappointed in any of the coolers if you're looking for quietness of course be quiet the name says it all other than that guys thank you for tuning in thanks for watching the show until next time game overhello guys and welcome back in 2020 this is the last game hunter and welcome to the show and today we're going to do a CPU cooler shootout so what we're gonna do we're going to put the dark rocks limb from be
