5 Things You Didn’t Know About Electric Car Racing

Electric Car Racing: What You Need to Know About Formula E

As we're here in Brooklyn, checking out tons of cool electric vehicles, we're excited to announce that we've got a big race coming up and we're going to check it out. Electric car racing is happening at one of the biggest events, Formula E, which happens in multiple countries but the finale takes place here in New York and Brooklyn. There are 11 different teams with two drivers each, so you can expect to see 22 cars on the track. What's unique about these cars is that they're all exactly the same except for their design, markings, and logos, which means it's all about skill.

The drivers are the biggest variable here, as they're driving the same car but with some new equipment. This is actually the second-generation model of new cars that have improved battery life and better tires. We'll get into more details about those improvements later. Another interesting aspect of electric car racing is that it's not just a big race anymore; people come early to see the newest electric vehicles and enjoy cool lounges, great snacks, and even a gaming station for those who want to race a driver. One thing we love about coming here is being able to check out the cars at the pit lane, as this car in particular won yesterday's race. It feels like something special when you're right next to it.

Another interesting aspect of electric car racing is that pit stops are basically non-existent. We all know what traditional racing is like, but Formula E is pretty different here. With the newest batteries on Gen 2 cars, drivers can now complete an entire race on a single battery, which used to require swapping cars for the second half of the race. This new technology also means that drivers have improved tires that will last the entire race, unlike traditional pit stops where refueling and changing tires were necessary.

One thing that sets electric car racing apart from traditional racing is the special lane called "Attack Mode." With this mode, drivers can temporarily exit the race to get a boost and speed, which they can strategically plan to come out of the race early and potentially take the lead. This technology allows drivers to maximize their performance without taking any unnecessary risks.

Electric car racing also prioritizes sustainability, as Formula E powers its cars with almost zero emissions and 100% renewable fuel. They even intentionally don't provide parking for attendees to encourage public transportation use. We appreciate this attention to detail in sustainability, especially when it comes to electric vehicles.

Perhaps most surprising is how quiet the race is compared to traditional racing. While you might hear some noise from the cars, it's not as loud if you're close to the track. And what's even more impressive is that kids don't need protective gear for their ears when listening to the cars go by; overall, electric car racing provides a great experience.

As we wrap up here at the race and wait for the results, we want to give credit to all the winners of this year's Formula E. It was awesome last year, but we can't wait to see what next year has in store with these advancements. If you enjoyed this video, please don't forget to like it and subscribe.
