Upgrading My Test Bench: A Weekend Project Gone Right

I decided to upgrade my test bench, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Owned is one-stop-shop for all branding and resources needed for streamers, including overlays, alerts, panels, and more. They offer premium designs and complete revamp packages that can be applied to both streams and social media platforms.

The new test bench features a wow effect that I'm really enjoying. It's white, which makes it easy to clean and dust-free. There's so much space for me to add various components, such as the motherboard, CPU cooler, and power supply. The standoffs are designed specifically for custom water cooling systems, but I won't be using them for that. Instead, everything is secured with screws and mounts, making it easy to upgrade or change parts in the future.

One of the challenges I faced during the build was dealing with the motherboard standoffs. They came with a manual instruction to add nuts on top of these standoffs in a specific way. However, following those instructions resulted in the motherboard sitting too high, causing issues with the PCIe brackets. After some trial and error, I figured out that simply placing the motherboard directly on the standoffs and securing it with the provided nuts was the correct approach.

Another issue I encountered during the build was the power button. The manual provided came with a pinout that didn't match any of my existing components, making it difficult to install. After some research, I discovered that most motherboards come with onboard power buttons, so I'm not too concerned about this issue moving forward.

Overall, my test bench is performing exactly as I expected and needed it to. The only minor complaint I have is the design of the little brackets for attaching the power supply and mounting drives – they're a bit fragile and awkward to use. However, aside from that quibble, I'm thoroughly enjoying my new test bench.

I've been using the test bench for over a month now, and it's become an essential tool in my workflow. It allows me to easily swap out components, test different setups, and even create B-roll footage for future videos. The flexibility of this build is exactly what I needed, and I'm grateful to have such a reliable and well-designed system.

One final note: if you're considering upgrading your own test bench or starting from scratch, I highly recommend checking out Owned's resources and packages. They offer comprehensive solutions that cater to streamers' specific needs, and their designs are always professional and visually appealing. For this project, I was particularly impressed with the Wow effect on my test bench – it adds a level of flair and sophistication that takes it from mere functional component to an actual showpiece.

Before wrapping up, I want to give a shoutout to those who've reached out and asked questions about my test bench build. I'm happy to share more details and insights with anyone interested in upgrading or building their own system. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: entoday let's talk about test benches the you know half-baked computer board things that you put your computer parts on to build test computers or benchmarking rigs like you see in most YouTube channels relating to PC building these days mine is a piece of crap you guys have seen it in videos before and asked what it was and I can't even find my original email receipt to tell you what it is but I assure you it is not something I'd ever suggest anyone buy it didn't cost very much that the reason I got it I didn't think there was any real reason to have to spend a bunch of money on something that just I set my Hardware on top of in theory it's no more functional than a heart in a cardboard box and you've seen the Linus tech tips video probably where they built their own test benches out of a severed case well I finally got tired of putting up with it my cat is also very interested and mine is literally going to break any minute so it was time for a change we're gonna be checking out the change that I got this may be my cat doesn't knock it over behind me so this right here is the Praxis wet bench this is a test bench that's a little bit more expensive than what I would ever have considered had I not spent a year finally using this test bench and running into so many frustrations with it it's wobbly the legs are gonna break off at any minute there's not a whole lot of room to work with anything and there's no real mount for holding my power supply so whenever or my hard drives and so whenever I have to move it between my desk and my workbench here and things like that I'm literally just like bundling the cables and the power supply in my arms trying not to drop it with no real way of managing that well we're changing that today I mean hey stop that you're not supposed to eat screws no trying to eat screws stop that really hey these are not for you dummy throw my stuff in the floor can you believe her never gone man are you going to no don't come back overview for them we know what you did well this thing is heavy it comes in a very heavy box there's a lot of parts to it and they're probably going to be a lot of assembly so it was already sort of pre opened for us here thanks to good old shipping companies in general then bring my knife so we're opening with the screwdriver say hello to your wet bench look at this fan oh it comes with candy - look at this overkill this is kind of intimidating that it's this premium congratulations on purchasing the Praxis wet bench after years of development we're proud to introduce the test bench that you deserve I hope so all right well there's an entire assembly manual I maybe should not have started this tonight I just wanted it done oh my god this is intimidating height I've got a panel with some other panels that's a foam that I need to keep away from the cat cardboard that the cats will love oh damn that's clearly a triple radiator mount clearly a triple radiator mounting heartless like drive sleds maybe this box just keeps going side panels a main handle of some sort all made it nice and metal very high-quality feeling so far and that's the bottom of the box jeebus I didn't pick this fight but I know I'm in it I try to give it my best shot so owned is your one-stop-shop for all of your branding and resources and packages for not only just your stream but your social media as well overlays alerts panels and more for streamers featuring premium designs and even complete revamp packages they've got banners avatars clay and logos sound clips for your alerts and even full websites to match your stream branding and keep it all together fine stream designs with the Wow where did you get that effect on owned and they're even compatible with twitch studio which just went into public Veda video on that soon if it's not up already go check them out at a postbox GG / o WN 3d well it's done and it looks freaking awesome my overhead camera kept overheating since I was recording internally throughout this process so I didn't get the whole thing this is really nice now it's white so it's going to show dust and dirt a whole lot easier and probably get scratched up over time but for now it looks freaking gorgeous there's so much space to actually put stuff everything's gonna be permanently mounted to it so I can just motherboard swap I can keep it dedicated up to a three sixty millimeter a IO on here if I want it obviously it's meant for like custom water cooling but that's not what I'm gonna use it for everything is just so nice and rig right rugged and I can't have handles to pick it up it takes up more space so fitting it on my desk over there for benchmarking and stuff there's gonna be a problem but up here and stuff it's gonna be great and it's gonna be great for helping me get b-roll too because I can easily take it up and down stairs and it's angled like this which means it's gonna be a lot easier to get shots of the processor and the motherboard it's now like 3:00 a.m. I didn't mean to stay up this late but it took a little while the worst part most of it was fine especially following the directions but the worst part was these motherboard standoffs I have to take this really long screw screw it through the actual standoff and then put a little nut on top of that and it was really difficult to actually screw it there like my hands are torn to shreds I eventually figured out I could rig my drill to it and just drilled them in but oh that was follow the worst-possible part but overall it is gorgeous it is awesome I'm gonna tomorrow morning go ahead and throw the build on here and get some final thoughts but yeah so just a couple quick final thoughts here I've been using it for over a month now and I'm really enjoying this test bench no major complaints some of you might notice I was complaining on Twitter I the manual shows you adding the nuts on top of these standoffs on the motherboard tray just back-to-back and in doing so your motherboard sits too high and the PCIe brackets don't actually work by taking those back off and just putting the motherboard directly on the standoffs and then using those nuts to secure it there works a lot better I also ran into an issue with the power button didn't come with the right pin out and none of it made any sense like it didn't fit where they wanted the pin out to go and I even contacted a couple people who already had these and theirs didn't come this way and they don't understand what was going on there so I got the wrong power button or something I ordered a couple from Amazon and none of them really did what I wanted but most of them other words I'm gonna be using come with onboard power buttons anyways so for now I'm not worried about it but I may install a third-party one at some point and otherwise I didn't have any real major issues I just don't like the little fragile brackets for the power supply and mounting drives is super awkward and weird but as a you know on the whole it's doing exactly what I wanted and I got nothing major to complain about really I also took a couple hours to hot glue a big set of RGB strips to the case just to give it a little bit more Flair and now it looks really cool so there's that thanks for watching this video guys I just wanted to show you you know what I was upgrading to I've talked to me and complained about my test bench a whole lot and people have asked questions so I just wanted to do something different for a little weekend project to have this little playlist the
