**Performance and Emulator Testing**
The T820's performance is off to a great start, with many emulators performing well on the device. However, we still need to test some higher-end emulators to see how they hold up. We've started testing the Dolphin Emulator for GameCube and Wii, and while many of the easier-to-emitulate games are working fine at 1X resolution, some more challenging titles like F0X, Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4, Super Smash Bros., Melee, and even Super Mario Sunshine, all ran at full speed. This is a great sign that we're on the right track with the T820's hardware.
One notable exception is Tatsunoko Versus Capcom for Wii, which still uses the Dolphin Emulator but surprisingly runs smoothly at 1X resolution without any issues. The use of the Standalone official dolphin build also results in better performance than expected. With some tweaks and settings adjustments, we may be able to squeeze even more performance out of these harder-to-emit games.
Moving on to PS2 emulation using Ether SX2, the backend is still game-dependent, with Vulcan or OpenG being chosen depending on the specific title. However, for Gran Turismo 3, we're seeing 2X resolution and full-speed performance that looks amazing on this display. Games like Crash Bandicoot and Kingdom Hearts 2 can even be upscaled to 3X without any issues. However, when we moved to God of War 2 at 2X, it fell on its face, requiring us to drop down to 1X resolution or use cycle skips to get closer to full speed.
Overall, the performance of these emulators is a great indicator of the T820's capabilities, and we're excited to see how they'll hold up in the future. With some continued testing and tweaking, we may be able to squeeze even more performance out of these titles.
**Steamlink and Moonlight Performance**
In addition to emulator performance, we also wanted to test Steamlink on the T820. The device's Wi-Fi 5 connectivity allows for stable streaming from our main gaming PC, and the results are impressive. We've been streaming Spider-Man: Miles Morales at 1080p with smooth performance, and the AMOLED display looks amazing. While there were some minor issues with remapping the built-in controller in Steamlink itself, it worked out fine once everything was set up.
We've also had the option to use Moonlight, which allows for seamless streaming from our PC to the T820 without any lag or delay. This is a great feature that opens up new possibilities for gaming on the go. With Wi-Fi 5 providing stable connectivity, we're able to stream games at high quality with minimal issues.
Overall, Steamlink performance on the T820 has been excellent, and we're excited to see how it will hold up in future testing.
**First Impressions and Design**
After spending some time with the T820, our first impressions are generally positive. The device's design is comfortable and ergonomic, with a compact form factor that makes it easy to carry around. However, there are some minor issues with the d-pad itself, which feels slightly slippery due to its material and construction.
Additionally, the black plastic used for the outer casing of the T820 is prone to fingerprints, which may be a concern for some users. On the other hand, we do have the option to upgrade to the Crystal Blue version, which addresses this issue.
The handles on the side of the device are also a feature that some people may not like, but they do make a difference in comfortability and usability. Despite these minor issues, we're generally pleased with the overall design of the T820, and it's clear that Amber Neck has put a lot of thought into creating a device that is both functional and comfortable to use.
**Conclusion**
Overall, our first impressions of the RG 556 are positive, with its powerful hardware and good performance making it an attractive option for emulators. While there are some minor issues with design and build quality, these can be addressed with the upgrade options available.
We're excited to continue testing and pushing the limits of the T820's capabilities in future videos, so stay tuned for more content like this. If you have any questions or comments about the device or our impressions, we'd love to hear them in the comments section below.
