The Audi A6: A Practical Executive Car with Some Quirks

The Audi A6 has been around for a while now, but it's still one of the most practical executive cars available on the market. One of its standout features is its very wide boot opening, which makes it a breeze to load items like a baby buggy and associated luggage. This spaciousness allows for four sets of golf clubs, with only one set present in our test car. The boot's square shape also enables it to swallow both large and small suitcases with ease, unlike some of its rivals.

One feature that stands out is the split folding rear seats, which are standard on many Audi models. However, there's an annoying caveat: these seats cannot be folded from the boot itself. Instead, one has to go around to the back doors to fold them, before accessing the spacious space within. While this can be a bit inconvenient, once the seats are lowered, there is plenty of room for a TV-sized box. However, large boxes on the folded seats will not fit through the gap into the boot, although smaller boxes can still be squeezed in.

This issue with rear seat folding is a common problem among many saloon cars. Despite this, the Audi A6 is still a great option for those who need to carry items, particularly larger ones like golf clubs and suitcases. The car's boot shape allows it to accommodate both large and small items with ease, making it a practical choice.

When it comes to carrying passengers, the Audi A6 is good but not exceptional. Its rivals, such as the BMW and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, have slightly more legroom and headroom. However, for most people, the A6's spaciousness should suffice. It also has a reasonable amount of space in the front seats, with 1.5-liter bottles fitting comfortably in the door bins.

However, there are some areas where the Audi A6 falls short. The rear armrests lack cup holders, and there's very little space under the central armrest itself. On the other hand, there is a wireless charging pad for phones, which is a convenient feature. Overall, while the Audi A6 is practical enough for most people, it's not class-leading in terms of rear passenger space or cubby storage.

In terms of versatility, the Audi A6 offers a range of features that make it an excellent choice for those who need to carry people and items. Installing a baby seat, such as the ISOFIX system, is relatively simple, although there is less room to maneuver than in some rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

One interesting side note is that the Olympics Committee once tried to sue Aldi for its four-ring logo, but ultimately failed. This tidbit of trivia offers a glimpse into the world beyond the automotive industry and serves as a reminder that even the most mundane topics can be fascinating.

Overall, the Audi A6 remains one of the most practical executive cars available on the market, with its spacious boot and range of features making it an excellent choice for those who need to carry people and items. While it may not excel in every area, it's a solid option for those looking for a reliable and practical car.
