OnePlus 6T Review - REAL Changes

The OnePlus 6T: A Break from the Notch Crowd

As Dave 2D here, I'm excited to share my thoughts on the latest addition to the OnePlus family - the OnePlus 6T. This phone has a distinct vibe that sets it apart from its predecessors and other smartphones in the market. Gone are the days of notch overload; instead, we have a teardrop-shaped notch that's both visually appealing and functional.

The Teardrop Notch: A Game-Changer?

I'm not a fan of notches, and this design is a welcome change. The reduced notch size compared to regular large notches makes it much less obtrusive, especially when watching videos or browsing in landscape mode. The shape of the notch also makes it immediately recognizable as different from other notched phones out there. It's like having a phone from the future!

The Unique Shape: A New Era for OnePlus?

OnePlus has always been known for its unique designs, and this phone is no exception. The teardrop-shaped notch is just one aspect of the phone's design that sets it apart. What I love about this shape is that it looks cleaner and more futuristic than other notched phones. It's a testament to OnePlus's commitment to innovation and forward thinking.

The Fingerprint Sensor: A Revolutionary Feature

Another exciting feature on the OnePlus 6T is the fingerprint sensor built into the screen. This technology has been around for a while, but its implementation in this phone is what makes it truly special. The sensor is discreetly placed under the screen, making the overall design cleaner and more streamlined. However, I did notice that the speed of the in-screen fingerprint sensor is slightly slower than the regular OnePlus 6 fingerprint sensor.

The Sensitivity Issue: A Minor Quibble

One thing I noticed about the in-screen fingerprint sensor is its sensitivity. While it's generally reliable, there were a few instances where I had to re-register my fingerprints multiple times before they would be recognized. However, this is a minor quibble compared to the overall performance of the sensor.

The Camera: A Significant Upgrade

One thing that remains unchanged from the OnePlus 6 is the camera. The camera bump on the back doesn't protrude as much as it did in previous generations, but there's still some protrusion. However, I'm happy to report that the camera on this phone is one of the best in its class.

Night scape: A New Feature for Better Nighttime Photos

One new feature in the software that caught my attention is Nightscape, which allows you to take stunning images of cityscapes at night. It's a game-changer for anyone who wants to capture the beauty of urban landscapes without sacrificing quality.

The Headphone Jack: A Shocking Move?

Perhaps one of the most surprising moves from OnePlus is the removal of the headphone jack. I know that many OnePlus fans are headphones enthusiasts, and they rely on that feature as one of the main reasons they buy their phones. While I understand the need to move forward with technology, this decision will undoubtedly disappoint some users.

The Battery Life: A Significant Improvement

One area where the OnePlus 6T excels is in its battery life. The phone has a significantly larger battery than its predecessor, which translates to an estimated 20-25% increase in battery life. This is a major upgrade for anyone who needs a phone that can last all day without needing a charge.

The Flagship Feel: A New Era for OnePlus?

For the first time in recent history, the OnePlus 6T feels like a proper flagship phone. The design, features, and performance all come together to create a device that's both powerful and stylish. Whether you're looking for a new phone or upgrading from an older model, this is definitely worth considering.

Should You Buy the OnePlus 6T?

Ultimately, whether or not you should buy the OnePlus 6T depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you value innovative design, excellent camera performance, and significant upgrades in battery life, then this phone is a no-brainer. It's like having a phone from the future!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enHey, how's it going Dave 2D here. Okay the OnePlus 6T.This is a phone that has a very different vibefor a smartphone from OnePlus, the past twelve months in the smartphone industry has been nothing but like notch city. We've seen so many similar variations of that notch to the point where a lot of Android phones actually lookidentical to each other, even the OnePlus 6 had a very similar looking notchThe OnePlus 6T is the first phone that I've used that has this teardrop shaped notch, and it's obviously visually differentI'm never one that likes notches, and this looks so much better to mejust even when the phone is just sitting in the UIIt looks so much cleaner to me and when you're watching videos and stuff in landscape. It's way less obtrusiveIt's gonna depend on whatever you're watching the type of content you're watching, but I think most people will appreciate thisReduced notch size compared to a regular large notchand another thing I like about the shape is that this design isimmediately recognizableas being differentLike all those notched phones out there whether it's an iPhone X or any of the 50 million Android notch phones out thereThey all look very similar to each other. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's clearly a notch phone from the past yearYou look at thisThis looks different. This looks unique. This looks like you have a phone from the future nowAnd does it matter? Probably not, I think most people don't care about that stuffBut if you do, if you want that unique look to your phoneThis is that phone the teardrop notch will shift the earpiece upSo it's in this thin slot on the edge of the phone nowIt still sounds just as good and you sell the sensorsBut you do lose that customizable notification light and that's something that I've always liked about oneplus phonesIt's now gone another new feature on the OnePlus 6T is the fingerprint sensor built into the screenSo we've seen this technology on a bunch of Asian phones beforeBut this is the first one that I've used with this technology, and I got to be honestIt is super coolIf you think of all the ways that phones have implementedfingerprint sensors on their phones for the past few yearsLike they've been on the back on the front on the side on the topIt's lots of different variations, but when you have it built into the screenIt just removes that physical object that physical fingerprint sensor from the phoneAnd now you have a significantly cleaner design. The sensor is built under the screenYou can't see when it's offbut when you want to unlock the phone you place your finger on that spot aGreen light fires up to help the sensor read your fingerprint and it unlocks the phoneI love the way that this fingerprint sensor looks but does it perform well?It does but it's not as good as a regular fingerprint sensorSo the one thing I noticed right away was that the speed is a little bit slower than the regular OnePlus 6 fingerprint sensorThat thing is fast! The in screen fingerprint sensor on the 6T is quick,But it's just not as quick. The other thing I've noticed is that in terms of just reliabilityI feel like the in-screen fingerprint sensor isMore sensitive to things like dirt and moisture in your fingers when I had wet fingers was pretty much impossible to unlock the phoneBut that being said this is not the only way to log into the phone, right? You still have access to your superfast face unlockI don't think a lot of phones going forward are slated to have this type of technology to have that in screen fingerprint sensor andThis is one of the first phones to do itSo if you want to be an early adopter, here's your ticket. Now, this phone is actually a little bit bigger than the original OnePlus 6The screen is also a little bit bigger and you get a slightly smaller bottom bezel, but physically the phone feels biggerIt is taller and slightly thickerI actually don't notice the length if you told me that these were the same phones in terms of lengthI would have thought they were I had to look up the dimensions to notice that the 1 plus 60 is a little bit tallerbut the girth the thickness isNoticeable, it's only half a millimeter thicker, but because of the way that these phones sit in your handsIt is a noticeable difference compared to the 1 plus 6It's not uncomfortable in any way and it's also a little bit heavierBut the thickness is what you'll notice more than anything else and with that extra room in thereOneplus has filled it up with a bigger battery. So this is now running a 3700 milliamp hour batteryThe old one was at 3000. That's like a20-25 percent increase in battery life. It's significantSo this phone has also had the removal of the headphone jack and this is a move that really surprised meI feel like a lot of one-plus fans are headphone jack enthusiasts. They depend on that thingthey really rely on that headphone jack as being like one of the main features as to why they buy this phone andMove itIt's not that it's offensiveI just feel like a lot of people gonna be disappointed now if you think about itIf you really think about the situation in the smartphone industry right now, this was inevitableI mean I thought they would have gone one maybe even two more generations of phones with that headphone jack, but it's gone nowI guess it's just the natural progression of thingsokay, the camera this remains unchanged from the oneplus 6 the camera bump doesn't protrude as much anymore because it's a slightly thicker foam butThere's still a protrusion and the camera on the 1 plus 6 and 60 are good cameras way better than the previousGenerations of oneplus cameras, I feel like the 6 had a very respectable cameraThere's a new feature in the software called nightscape, which allows you to take some really clean images of cityscapes at nightIt's pretty cool. So the one plus 60 is a phone. That is I think it's a pretty big shift for the companyHere's the thing. T phones like the T series of phones from oneplus are usually iterative changes, right? They've tweaked a couple things here and there and it's like it's a new phoneIt's like the second release of that phone for that year and it's cool. But this year this 60 feels likeIt's a big jump for themNot just in the shape and design of the phoneBut I feel like the choices that they've put on this phone like to remove the headphone jack to remove the regular fingerprint sensorthey're doing stuff to their T lineup or just their phone lineup that feels more aggressive more likeForward-looking than the regular one plus that I've knownThe 60 looks way more like a flagship than any other oneplus phone to date and I think the 60 is actually a better lookingPhone than a lot of other flagships out there. Some of them are double this priceSo should you pick up the 60?Honestly, if you skip the 6 because you felt like it was too small of a change like just you knowthe slightly bigger screenthis has features in it that make it feel like asignificant change this feels like it's a phone from the future if you want a phone that is gonna look and act likeYou know, it's not like every other phone out there60 that looks pretty nice. Okay. Hope you guys enjoyed this video thumbsIf you liked it subs you love to see you guys next time\n"
