The Art of Car Maintenance: A Conversation with Bob

Bob's latest project is his 2003 Maserati Cyclone, which he purchased from the show after it wrapped up filming. He has spent countless hours restoring the car to its former glory, and it shows. The paint job is flawless, with only a few minor imperfections that were easily fixable. Bob had to replace the cowling, but other than that, the car was in great shape.

One of the most noticeable features of the Cyclone is its original paint job, which has been remarkably well-preserved despite being over 20 years old. Bob knew it would be a challenge to keep the paint looking fresh, especially since he's from California and cars are notoriously prone to fading. However, after a thorough detailing process, the car emerged looking almost new again. The only real issue is that the wheels, which had been neglected for too long, were in need of refurbishment.

Bob took his Cyclone to the shop to have some work done on it. The Wizard had bought him the car as a gift and was happy to help out with any repairs or maintenance issues that arose. The Wizard has a talent for fixing things quickly and efficiently, which is exactly what Bob needed. With the Wizard's expertise, Bob was able to get his car back in top shape.

After getting his Cyclone fixed up, Bob decided to take it out for a spin. He loved driving it and felt like it handled incredibly well. The bike's acceleration was impressive, especially considering its age. Bob has always been a fan of cars that sound good when you start them up, and the Cyclone certainly delivered on that front.

Bob also had another car in the shop at the same time as his Cyclone, a classic FJ Cruiser with a two-tone roof. This car was purchased by the Wizard, who plans to keep it for himself. Bob really enjoyed driving the FJ Cruiser and felt like it handled smoothly. He loved the way it looked, too - the two-tone roof added a unique touch that set it apart from other cars on the road.

As Bob continued to work on his cars, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunities he's had. From working on classic muscle cars to owning some of the most exotic vehicles out there, Bob has been fortunate enough to have a career in the automotive world that allows him to do what he loves every day. And with his latest car restoration project underway, it looks like things are only going to get better for this lucky guy.

Later on in the conversation, Bob mentioned that he had purchased another car - a Corvette. This bike is part of Bob's ongoing project of restoring classic cars and has been a labor of love. With its bright colors and aggressive lines, this bike is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

then it magically transforms into a full song Z06 I get the full 8500 RPM Redline on tap with the flat plane crank V8 670 horsepower 0-60 in under three seconds I've never felt it before because you need to get it past this mileage to get enough break in to do it so today is the day I get to feel this thing Full Tilt and not have to worry about popping the motor necessarily I know there's been a few that have popped and they've been widely publicized but I think they were very early in their mileage and probably people didn't follow this procedure which I have I am today but with today also when we get this break in mileage we're heading straight to the car Wizards to do the very first mod on the Z06 something is going to add a lot more horsepower even more believe it or not and make it sound so much better it is pretty involved to get to these things but they are certainly worth doing so in addition to that I'm going to recap my Z06 ownership experience so far and uh well I dumb lucked into this thing after buying a 2005 Cadillac Escalade from the local Chevy dealer that I used to work at and when I was doing that buying a hoopty Escalade they told me oh by the way we have a Z06 this one that's coming in in a few weeks and it's not allocated so if you want it to you can buy it and well of course I did but who knew how much of a genius I would be considering how hard these things are to get I mean no longer is this the Everyman sports car because well you can't find a Z06 right now and if you do you're paying 100 100 plus over MSRP in many instances uh there's been a few famous sales at collector car auctions and recently stradman on cars and bids I know that had a little bit of a hoopla him selling the car a little bit of pushback with that which I don't really understand because uh it wasn't his content strategy to modify a Z06 which I mean how could you drill holes and do a wide body when it's already a wide body and all that stuff I totally get why he did it and especially with uh a lot of overhead you know considering you have all these cars in the YouTube channel and YouTube itself ad rates are sort of pulling back with the economy same with sponsors they're kind of pulling back so things are definitely a little tighter right now and for me personally having other stuff going on it is a little tough don't think for a second though I'm complaining things are still going great I still have all these amazing wonderful cars and get to have these experiences all because you all watch and I'm so grateful for that but I definitely hit the lottery as well with this Z06 Corvette with all the production stoppages at the Corvette factory these things are so rare so hard to find uh that they're selling so far over their MSRP so basically I hit the lottery here it's easier to find a Ferrari f8 tributo even though it's a little bit more than buying one of these it is just so ridiculous that we're still having these issues with supply chain and demand when it comes to cars like these and the prices obviously the party will end at some point and I may still be holding on the car when it starts depreciating like a normal car but for now obviously I am way up but I still can't leave it alone which is why we're going to go up today to the car Wizards and completely modify it but first let's get this thing to 500 miles to where I can hear this thing at full song I've been waiting so long for this moment for 500 the computer will say break in and we'll get the full red line any moment now come on you can do it please this is the longest mile ever there it is and it hasn't changed it hasn't changed why did it change maybe it changes at 501 there was and I missed it I turned the camera away the moment it happened but now we can enter this it's alive yes now let's make it more alive wizard yes and I see yes that thing's dirty it will yeah I do need to go wash it but it's been kind of cold lately don't want to take it through a drive-through car wash so I actually need you to work on it report work on it yes the new Z06 it already broke no it well it hasn't broken it's actually broken in now to where I can go as fast as I want rev as high as I want so that's good but I want you to make it louder and faster wait a minute here isn't there a warranty on this car it won't avoid the warranty I don't believe but uh yeah before we dive into that I suppose and what we're doing why don't you uh show us around here a little bit huh sure I don't think well the charger I just need to pick it up yeah it's done you just need to take it home you're gonna start charging me storage here in a little bit maybe in another few days I suppose the Mustang well the mystery continues you need to dive into it for sure these parts for the Safari 911 Turbo still waiting on that it has been a minute unfortunately and well is there any of my cars here that you're still working on are they all done the S600 is done that's done yes the escalade's done escalation done well it's a good thing I brought you some work then yes it is I guess the only thing that still needs to be fixed is the car that I punted which is the uh Citron so how are things there I just got some parts in today it's actually going to be a long drawn out process but there's a guy named Rob Murdock that's rebuilt like 50 of these and he's helping me get me all the parts I need and everything it's going to be sweet to take that to Cars and Coffee yes I'm very happy that you enjoy it and that uh you took me out of that and now I have a massive in-store credit to spend fixing things but with this one it's a modification so did you get a box from Soul performance by chance actually I did it's over there by the clock okay cool yes and I see you've already had a little peekaboo inside huh yeah I opened it up and I was like what for a while I didn't even know where it went through well should we have some Heat Blankets soul soul Heat Blankets some blouses a banner and I do believe this is one it's got ghosts on it yeah yeah sport cat sport cats so you can't really uh do an exhaust on these I suppose you could but it'd be very pointless on the Z06 Corvette because they're already valved they're already good but you can have some fun when it comes to catalytic converters get on some sport cats and get things flowing a little more freely and sounding better so Soul performance was kind enough to send me one of their experimental sport cats here uh to put on the Z06 so I'm kind of their guinea pig but they do experimental that's kind of scary yeah they do everything they do Porsches GM you name it so yeah it looks nice it does look nice and I guess a matching pair I'm not sure if one sits lower than the other but I don't think so I think they're nice and even wizard but it's healthy that's the last time let's just never do this like we're building on this for too long but uh yeah so I know a lot of the Corvettes gonna have to come apart to get to these sure I suppose whenever you get to that point let me know I'll come up and film The install huh yes we can do that all right excellent well it's been a few days when we are going to head up to the car Wizards to see the exhaust install but I do need to bring something else up there uh some neglected hoopties back here and surprisingly the one I'm bringing is my 2016 Explorer van that I've had for years now going on three years and unfortunately the battery is gone it is Stone dead yep nothing but another issue I was having which maybe it's just related to the battery I don't know but it's been a problem for a while this has been stuck so if I want to use the full nine passenger capacity again I need that fixed it clicks the motor doesn't really turn on though so jump this off get up to the car Wizards and check on the other Chevy all right the van is in and Daniel's son is already checking into us but uh boy oh boy what a mess we have here holy moly and that's the that's the last cat right there that's the last cat nice Magic Mike and wizard uh are you needing a heat shield down there is that your Cod piece isn't that what it's for I guess it's all the way up to the valve covers there in red and there's I guess there's the headers huh yep they come up and over they do because it should go down and then interesting all right well so what do y'all think of this car as far as wrenching I think it's trying really hard to be a four five eight even so much so that we found this the part number is 458 on the ECU computer interesting okay well I guess we have the differences here so that's the one that just came out it has a heat shield on it but uh the sole performance one I see you were wearing it was quite comfortable it was but uh so here's stock I mean obviously it does the job but these are looking like they're a little more free throw flowing it's hard to say free flowing free flowing there we go thank you wizard all right yeah it's definitely bigger gaps in between the little honeycomb structure compared to the stock ones they're really fine inside the stock ones and still has the ports for the uh oxygen sensors nice little kid huh yeah I'm pleasantly surprised oh now you're struggling yep yep all right well it took a day and a half to take apart it's going to take a while to put it back together thankfully I have that in store to the hole he's not collecting money for me for a very long time but I guess you can let me know what's going on with the van and when this gets back together it should sound really really hey a season three car issues Maserati so everything shows up in pairs I I guess so so wizard bought that for me when the Show wrapped and now you're a nation oh you're all Asian Bob has bought it right which you fix the uh tailgate on the Cyclone when I smashed into it and that's all that happened that's all happened right there oh man yeah the Broncos yeah well there it is yeah the OJ Bronco yeah years and years of outside in California and OJ tours and I knew the paint would come out but it was finally caught so this is original paint right you know I I uh there are some parts that have been painted but for the most part how dull it was it was it was pretty much like a satin finish or a matte finish yeah this is insane so I knew the cowling needed to be redone so you did that right yeah you didn't have to pay hardly anything incredible yeah such a goofy thing I know but now it looks 20 years younger and then the paint was all peeling off the tailgate too so you did that yeah very nice yeah it just it's funny you know it gets so much attention everybody looking for Broncos now yeah for sure yeah really funny well I don't think I want to sell this one yet just because it is so much fun and so cool yeah you know we started this tradition oh thank you I appreciate it too we did oh yeah yeah so you know this of course we can't get clean but right we tried but everything else just cleaned up really good yeah I mean I knew it would clean up being a lifelong California car but I mean obviously had never seen a detailer probably its entire life but just the climate preserved it you know it's true over the last few weeks you know it's just been bad you know the wheels um you may have to send those off to get refinished yeah you we did what we could there's just clear coat is coming off so they're going to have to be refinished well but they're in good shape as far as if you want to do that they're perfect candidate you really don't need to make any excuses amazing and the fact that you can turn it off with the valve is is very nice all right well I'll take her out now yes I still have quite an in-store credit right so that applies you have like 11 Grand it's gonna this is this is the best thing ever sucks for you yeah well if cars costing me a lot of money a little Citron though you're enjoying it it is I'm glad I did it it'll as soon as we get your
