The Incase Snap Case for iPhone 4: A Review by Detroit Borg

Hello YouTube, this is Detroit Borg today we're going to take a look at the Incase snap case for the iPhone 4. This is one of the free cases available as part of the iPhone 4 free case program, so you can choose this as one of your case options.

The Incase Snap Case is a very simple, low-profile design that is clear and does not hide the phone behind any sort of opaque plastic. It includes a little stand that allows you to prop up the iPhone, and we also have a design feature on this case - basically, a blackened ring around the outlet for The Flash and camera. And of course, it's compatible with both iPhone 4, 16 gig, and 32 gig.

Taking a look around the packaging, we see that it's a very typical Incase style packaging. You can see I've already opened it inside, and we have the case under the case is a little booklet which shows you some of the other Incase accessories. Let's take a closer look at what else they have.

We're going to put the case down for now and see what else we have. Ah yes, here's another piece of literature on how to get a better experience through good design. Go check it out at incase.com. And actually, the stand is included in this packaging too. Let's pull that out and take a look.

Now let's just take a quick look at the case itself. It's very lightweight and very thin. We can see this black ring around the inside of the camera lens and flash opening again. The idea behind this ring is to prevent glare, and it's very smooth. I don't feel any sharp edges so the construction is pretty high quality.

We do have the Incase logo on the side, and we have Maen China on the other side. And of course, we see an open at the top and bottom. Now the best way to put the iPhone 4 in this case is to line up the buttons first and just snap it in. Therefore, you're not sliding the case over the buttons and potentially damaging them.

With the case in place, we can see that the buttons and port are completely free, the dock itself is free as are the speaker and microphone, and of course we have the opening for the camera and Flash again. There's that black ring around the case itself which prevents glare. It's kind of a bare-bones case although it does pick up fingerprints quite easily and it does show scratches and will show scratches over time.

If we look at the side, we can see that the case does not come over the front of the glass at all. So if you have a screen protector on this case, it should not disturb it. We can also see that the case is just slightly raised around the glass, so if you lay this on the table, it should protect it. Unfortunately, this isn't very deep, so it doesn't quite provide the protection I would like to see on the case when you drop this. This is likely to pop off rather than protect the screen.

With such large openings at the bottom and top, we can see that there's quite a bit of exposure here, which opens up the opportunity for damage and scratches. So I'm not too fond of this case in terms of its protection. The case is likely to show scratches over time, in fact I can see some right now um you can see some right here here, and these are just from handling it, uh just for this demo.

The other thing I noticed is that the case sort of flexes, you can hear it popping here, so it doesn't feel quite sturdy or secure on the phone itself. Now if we take a look at this little Incase stand, the material itself resembles the case itself. And if we look there are two different angles - one for a steeper angle than the other.

So if we put it on this side which is the steeper angle, if we put it on the other side, it's a farther back angle. So you have two options now, you can't use this in portrait mode cuz it will just fall backwards. Overall I do like the concept of this case, a very low-profile clear case that doesn't hide the design of the iPhone but I'm not comfortable using this in day-to-day because if I drop this I'm not absolutely certain it will protect it as well as a case like Apple's bumper.

So once again this is Detroit Borg with a review of the Incase snap case for the iPhone 4. Thanks for watching.
