Welcome to Auto Club Speedway: A Test Drive with APR's Stage 2 S3 Package
Hey guys, welcome to Auto Club Speedway, also known as California Speedway, here in Fontana, California. The guys from APR were kind enough to invite me out here to test their Stage 2 software package for my car. This car has the stage 2 software, a downpipe intake, it's got their oil catch-can, it also has a PRS lowering springs, they're lightweight 19-inch wheels cup tires, and their six piston brakes. So, this thing should be fully ready for the track.
As I get in the car, I haven't driven on the road much recently, so forgive if my lines are not perfect today. We're going to see how she does out here. Power down... oh wow, great power! Just a flat torque curve. The brakes are very immediate. We've got it in dynamic mode, turn-in is good, no push. They are under full throttle at 80-90 hundred. Wow, right through the chicane at about 95 and on the brakes for the score. So, it's a little louder; I want to put my windows down, sorry for the sound.
The car is a little stiffer steering's a little traction-control supplemental. We should watch these cup tires; they're way too scary! Wow, what stress! A little bit of understeer; they're being killed by the traction control bears in there. It's a great feel, though. I know it's too hard to get through that pass was an actual race car. Power and torque... oh wow! I got a little bit of lift-off oversteer there; that was a pleasant surprise. Probably shouldn't remember that for what I took it around the snake Miguel twice coming back. Don't want to get you out of my free track time, right there!
This thing has excellent power. A little bit of understeer at the mid corner; one back about 3,500. It's a little dead below that. What I love about this thing so far is it seems to have basically no downside from the regular S3. Basically no downside from the regular RS3. It's just faster. The rides are a little stiffer steering is a little heavier; the score is simpler cool. I don't know what they charge for all this stuff, can I bet you it's worth it? Locking up that FRS and they haven't messed with the adaptive dampers at all. It's just the springs. You still get that bull for us track car power must lose this thing comes on the show off oversteer; it's very very cool feels quicker than the last S4i Joe Banister, let's not use that right now.
It's tempting to say we're better with a manual gearbox, but I don't think so. I think this dual-clutch gearbox is doing such a good job power band. I want to keep it in and I don't think I would rather well. That was a lot of fun that was a good little run there. So, stock exhaust intake downplay oil catch can; it's not just a few parts now they're thinking about it, kind of a lot of parts but the total package is great. It got a bit of sound, it's not super loud. Got just enough sound can I go out this way? Guess I think I've gone the wrong way. Oh well that was a lot of fun and if you are a current S3 owner I recommend this package because it really wakes up the car. You know the car was quick to begin with but a little more sound, a little firmness in the suspension the lighter wheels the brakes. I mean, it all comes together to make a car that is um absolutely ready for the track, really good fun
