Emmy Eats Hong Kong -- tasting Hong Kong treats

**The Delightful World of Asian Snacks**

As I sat down to taste some exotic snacks from around Asia, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. My journey began with what looked like a peculiar fruit bag, which my friend Annette had kindly sent me from Singapore. The fruit was called "Lightsheet" or more accurately, "Hawthorn Berries", and it was said to resemble fireworks when eaten. I popped the fruit into my mouth, and was greeted by a burst of floral flavor that was simply delightful.

But what really caught my attention were the hand-pulled candies, which Annette had also sent me from Singapore. These were called "Dragon's Beard" or "" in Chinese, and they resembled a beard of a dragon due to their long, fine threads. The process of making these candies is truly impressive, with the vendor expertly pulling and stretching the strands to create this intricate and beautiful candy. As I bit into one of these candies, I was surprised by its texture - it was like cotton candy with a little crunch.

Next up were some "Super Strong Crispy White Bait" from Hong Kong, which consisted of tiny little fish served in dim sum restaurants as a snack before food arrived. These were crunchy and salty, with a hint of garlic that added depth to their flavor. And let's not forget the peanuts, which added a nice crunch and richness to each bite.

I was also sent some "Koppel Preserved Plum" from Annette, although I wasn't entirely sure what to make of it at first. The plum itself looked quite different from the ones I had tried before, with its larger size and slightly firmer texture. But as I took a nibble, I was surprised by the flavors that emerged - there were notes of dried fruit, licorice, and even a hint of leathery flavor. It was certainly an acquired taste, but one that I found interesting nonetheless.

Last but not least, I had some "banana candies" from Singapore, which were described as "too thick". These were another type of snack that Annette had recommended, and they consisted of two packets of banana-flavored sweets that looked like they belonged in a 6-inch cake. They were certainly not what I expected, but there was something about them that drew me in.

Throughout my snacking journey, I couldn't help but think about the cultural significance of these foods. From the "Lightsheet" fruit to the hand-pulled candies and preserved plums, each snack had its own unique story and history behind it. And as I sat down to enjoy my last bite of "Super Strong Crispy White Bait", I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience these delicious snacks from around Asia.

**A Taste of Asia**

As I wrapped up my snacking journey, I couldn't help but wonder what other culinary delights Asia had in store for me. Whether it was the vibrant streets of Hong Kong, the ancient temples of Singapore, or the quaint cafes of Tokyo, I knew that there was always something new to discover.

For now, though, I'll have to content myself with the memories of these delicious snacks and the cultural experiences they represented. From the floral flavors of "Lightsheet" fruit to the crunchy textures of "Super Strong Crispy White Bait", each snack had left an indelible mark on my taste buds and my imagination.

And who knows? Maybe someday I'll make it out to Hong Kong or Singapore and experience these snacks for myself. Until then, I'll be dreaming of the next delicious meal, the next exotic flavor to try, and the next cultural adventure to embark upon.
