Squarespace Tutorial - Password Protect a Single Page

How to Password Protect a Single Page in Squarespace: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hey everybody, this is David de Franco from Squarespace Summit with another Squarespace tutorial that we think is incredibly useful. Now, in our previous tutorial, we walked you through the process of how to password protect your entire website. But what if you wanted to password protect just a single page? Well, thankfully Squarespace makes the process very easy and we promise you when we say that it is very easy.

To get started, let's enter The Familiar content manager view by pressing the Escape key on our keyboard. Now, unlike last time, we want to stay within this view and do not want to go into the main settings view. For this video's example, let's say I want to lock down my Creator's showcase for whatever reason. Let's say I'm working on it so simply select the page in the left sidebar.

Now, click the settings button in the top right corner and right down here where it says password. This is where you'll put in your password. Now, as you can see Squarespace describes it as "a password required to access this page." Note that certain contributor permissions, administrator, content editor, automatically bypass this password. Just in case you're curious, we have covered basic authors and users with specific permissions in a previous tutorial.

Okay, so for now let's just password protect this page with the password Squarespace. Click save and there you go it's done. Now, like last time, let's open up Firefox since I'm not currently logged in to my Squarespace account on Firefox. Let's go to space summit.com and now clicking Creator showcase it should be locked down and they have it. The Creator showcase is officially password protected.

This is incredibly useful but of course we already know the password which is Scor Space logging in and boom it is done. Now, it's very important to remember to go back to that specific page and disable the password when you're ready for that page to be public once again. And to do that, we do the same exact process. Click the settings button and simply delete the password. Click save and go to Firefox again.

Let's get Space Summit one more time click Creator showcase and it is once again available to the public password free. Now, this is incredibly useful because we are currently running a Patreon campaign so when we have exclusive Patron access pages that we want to be password locked to the General Public we can do just that. So, believe us when we say this is an awesome feature that should not be ignored.

So, as always thank you so much for watching this Squarespace tutorial powered by Squarespace Summit. We greatly appreciate your support and we will see you in our next video.
