Project SUBZERO Gets a New Wing! Did We Overdo It

**A Step-by-Step Guide to Installing a Ford Mustang Spoiler with Euro Taillights**

As I sit down to write this article, I'm reminded of the importance of patience and attention to detail when working on car projects. My latest project is a Ford Mustang with a new spoiler that comes equipped with Euro taillights, and I'm excited to share my experience with you.

The journey began with the removal of the old wing. This was a crucial step, as it allowed me to access the area where the new spoiler would be attached. The wing had many threads, which was good because I knew that once it came off in the arms of the angel, it would be gone for good. I used Patterson Car Care's degreaser, which is safe for paint and takes away a lot of adhesive, to make the process easier.

Once I had removed the old wing, I turned my attention to the 3M tape that held everything together. This was the most time-consuming part of the entire install. I tried using my thumb to remove it, but unfortunately, it didn't work. That's when I realized I needed a different approach. I used a heat gun (or a hair dryer) to heat up the area where the tape was stuck, and then rolled the tape into a ball with my thumb and brought it towards me. This technique may seem simple, but trust me, it took some practice to get it right.

After what felt like an eternity, I finally managed to remove all of the 3M tape without any issues. The next step was to align everything else, which is where the cool part comes in. Now that I had removed the old wing and adhesive, I could start mounting the new spoiler.

To make this process smoother, AmericanMuscle supplied me with little pads to protect my paint from scratching. These pads are designed to sit between the trunk and the spoiler, and they're incredibly effective at preventing damage. The pads have a sticky side that allows them to stay in place, even when I was bolted on the spoiler.

The next step was to install the new hardware, which includes screws instead of bolts. To do this, I used a magnet to locate the correct holes and then used a screwdriver to secure everything together. This process may seem simple, but it's crucial to get everything lined up properly to avoid any issues later on.

As I worked my way through the installation, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and accomplishment. The spoiler was starting to come together, and I could see how it would look with the Euro taillights. Finally, the moment of truth arrived – I closed the truck and checked everything one last time before applying some adhesive remover to the original wing.

To my relief, it looked amazing! The spoiler was perfectly aligned, and the Euro taillights were shining bright. It was clear that this project had been worth all the effort. As a final touch, I decided to grab some blue paint for the spoiler, which added an extra layer of personality to the car.

I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who has supported me on this journey. Your encouragement and feedback mean the world to me. And to those who are considering taking on a similar project, I say don't be afraid to ask for help – it's always better to have someone to guide you through the process.

**Conclusion**

As I reflect on my experience with installing a Ford Mustang spoiler with Euro taillights, I'm reminded of the importance of patience and attention to detail. With the right tools and a bit of creativity, even the most challenging projects can be completed with ease. If you're thinking of taking on a similar project, I hope this article has provided you with some valuable insights and tips to make it easier for you. Until next time, when I'll be uploading my next project, take care and happy building!

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enHey hey what's up guys david here and today we are possibly gonna be doing thank the lord the easiest install on a car of all time so essentially what we're gonna do today is put a new spoiler on Sub Zero here - 550 Mustang and the cool thing is is that it uses the factory holes already in the trunk so far we have done amazing we have new wheels and tires and we have now the European taillights these are the your taillights that you'd find in Europe on a Mustang but now we have them in the US of A murica here's the deal though you might as well not even have a spoiler cuz it's like barely anything I see how they are trying to be like kind of tasteful and classy in that like too much and of course somebody decides to mow their lawn right as I start my video I'm gonna close this garage door okay now it's lonely in here alright here it is it's the bubble wrap spoiler what a nice they're done all right here it is this is the MMD v-series from American Muscle and it is super clean and super simple and you might be asking why is it black well I actually had it pre painted black from American Muscle because my last spoiler on Smurfs was pre painted black and it came out really nice having that contrast and that flow instead of being all blue or all white this time around so let's try and get this sucker on okay first things first I'm gonna take these little rubber grommets off which reveals the bolts for the spoiler you know what I noticed though every time I say it's gonna be an easy install it usually turns out I screw something up ok i got my handy dandy magnet here and i'm gonna make sure that this does not drop into here because it happened to me on smurf when I did the California special wing we dropped the bolt that fell all the way in there that wasn't fun to get out that we don't screw up this actually I'm smaller hold on I'm going to make sure it does not fall Oh yup that look at that that would have literally dropped into the trunk had I not had this because my fingers couldn't caught it Wow definitely definitely have one of these hello from the other side alright she's like right on there thank goodness I didn't keep ratcheting cuz it's about the all off just like that ban police pushpins man for why you do this alright there it is now see it forgot I had to take this thingamajigger off I need to remind myself to put it back on after I'm good this has so many threads which is good because the wing will come off in the arms of the angel all right guys I have a feeling that uh it's gonna be a little bit easier this time ah this is what happens when I work on cars by myself you tried to be so smart okay here comes okay so I'm gonna use my product Patterson car care the degreaser which is safe for paint and take off a lot of this adhesive and then I'll get to the 3m tape removal later get it on there hold my towel and then that was right off look at it okay now I can just focus on a 3m tape now that all this stuff's off try that first oh maybe not okay I've been at it for a while now my hands hurt but the best way to do this is to take a hair dryer heat gun if you don't have 3m adhesive remover the best way to do this is to take the heat gun go over it for a second then take your thumb and then roll the tape into a ball essentially and bring it towards you and that's kind of the only way I've gotten a decent result because honestly this is the most time-consuming part of the entire install everything else is pretty much it a brief you go in you go in go and sometimes I end up having to reheat the tape because it loses the temperature and that it doesn't want to pull anymore I tried using my red pry tool it did not work okay I got all the 3m off that was a pain in the butt but we got it done next step is to align everything else okay now is kind of the cool part now we start mounting the wing itself the cool thing is is that AmericanMuscle supplies these little pads to protect from scratching your pain essentially and it's the wing then the pad then the trunk you don't notice them because they get squished as you bolt on the spoiler so this is a nice little layer of protection so I'll take the pad it has a sticky side all right so it has a sticky side right here they just put one on just like this I'm gonna put the rest on right now okay since I am by myself doing this install Forever Alone style I have a certain process to this that I figured out without dropping the bolt into the trunk at least you still got to be careful so this is the new hardware there's screws instead of bolts and I take a magnet I go like this I put it in the right place or I see it through the trunk I grab from the other side and then I take the magnet off code like this and then I take my screwdriver and then bringing the wing closer and closer together using the holes in the way all right well that was kind of exhausting the center part is definitely the hardest the edges are actually extremely easy but to get that and to line up the spoiler perfectly it takes some time it's time-consuming it's up hard per se it's just time consuming to do it right and not pretty much freak out if something goes wrong the good thing is is if you do have a factory spoiler you don't the drill any but if you have no spoiler from the factory then you do have to drill in order to make this work so now I'm going to basically put everything back together and then close the truck and see what it looks like all right moment of truth I haven't even looked at it you up the truck closed double-check everything make sure it's all good be sure it's all lined up yeah that's all I know that's good that's good all I have to do is get some adhesive off of here of the original wing listen I think that it's good it looks amazing all right and there we have it the spoiler with the Euro taillights along with my nice wheels man this car is coming together so fast it's awesome what you can do with such a broad aftermarket with the Mustang the holes were already lined up this was a pre painted spoiler I didn't have to go to a paint booth or anything it was already ready to go I could choose whatever color I wanted I could make it even grab her blue spoiler even if I wanted to but I did it obviously it's just really neat and I feel incredibly blessed to be doing this project it's so much fun for me and I appreciate each and every one of you watching also huge thanks to everybody who supports me with Paterson car care Paterson car care is the most affordable way to get
