The All-New Kia Cee'd: A Korean Take on the 5-Door Family Hatchback
This is the all-new Kia Cee'd, the Korean firm's take on the 5-door family hatchback. Here's the car while top 10 things you need to know about it.
The new Kia Cee'd boasts a sharper face and a new back-end design that gives it a sporty look compared to its predecessor. However, how does it compare to its rivals? To get an opinion on this, click on the top right-hand corner of the screen to vote which one looks better - the Kia Cee'd, Honda Civic, or Volkswagen Golf.
When it comes to interior design, inside the car gets a neat layout with a sporty steering wheel and soft squishy plastics. The boot space is 15 liters more than the old cars at 395 liters, which is more space than you get with a Volkswagen Golf but less than a Honda Civic. Additionally, the new Cee'd has a wider interior, allowing three passengers to be carried in the back without them fighting over shoulder room.
Kia has tuned the car's chassis to suit European buyers, resulting in more direct steering than the old car and fully independent rear suspension for sharper handling. Something that sets the Kia apart from many of its rivals is the ability to get three touch screens - the biggest one measures 8 inches and comes with satellite navigation. Music fans can also spec up an upgraded sound system by JBL, just like you get in a Ferrari GT.
The new Kia Cee'd is the first Kia sold in Europe to feature level 2 autonomous driving, which means it can follow the speed of traffic and even change lanes itself to avoid heavy traffic. This advanced technology will be particularly appealing to city drivers.
When it comes to engines, the car offers three petrol options and two diesel engines. These include a 140 horsepower 1.4-liter turbo petrol and an all-new 1.6-liter diesel with either 115 horsepower or 136 horsepower. The engine range is designed to provide a suitable balance between performance and fuel efficiency.
The Kia Cee'd also boasts a more spacious interior, thanks in part to the wider design and additional storage space behind the rear seats. While it may not be as roomy as some of its rivals, it still offers ample cargo space at 395 liters.
