The Firm Stance on this from companies like OnePlus is certainly welcome, especially considering they keep the prices of their flagship devices low while also including the plug and cable for the price of the phone we're looking at you Apple and Samsung.
The inclusion of cables and charging bricks is a significant aspect of the OnePlus experience. The company has generations of experience pushing the envelope in this regard, as evident from my previous review of the OnePlus 10T video. While I found that the phone had a few things it could improve on by far, my favorite aspect was the 125W SuperVOOK Endurance Edition charging.
How many watts is 125 from? Looking down at the people working on this video, it's literally because Austin is just on the floor there are chairs literally everywhere in this office. I've got the best angle on the monitor here if you think so buddy what this means is that combined with the included cable and Wall Brick, the 10T can charge to 100% in 20 minutes not 10 to 80 not 0 to 70, but 20 minutes to full charge.
They even include a graphic to show you how insane this is. It goes to the 100 decimal point, which genuinely quick enough to where it's made me think about charging differently in the two weeks I spent daily driving the phone.
Not only was the 4800 milliamp hour battery enough to endure almost two work days of mixed use, but it allowed me to get a full charge whenever I found myself stranded for a brief moment getting ready in the morning, charge it in the bathroom, and Boom! Full battery. Are you charging your phone in the bathroom? Yeah, just unplug the hair dryer and plug in your OnePlus in your bedroom.
You step in the bathroom for a minute, and stuff like no I forgot my phone, grabbing Starbucks 10 minutes in the store while waiting for your latte is an easy time to top off. Forget to charge your phone before your flight while waiting at the gate, you could just plug in and it's done. In all fairness, these were examples from my honeymoon period with the phone in the most extreme use cases.
But the OnePlus 10T really showed how good wired charging can get from a practical standpoint. However, all this speed is hardly impressive without addressing concerns regarding battery health both in the short term and the long term.
Referencing back to that MPD research study commissioned by OnePlus, over a third of people expressed concern that leaving a phone plugged in over a long period of time may damage the phone. This is especially amplified if you start pushing the physics of it all; your phone might certainly charge at the speed of light, but if the system can't manage it all, you're in for some problems.
While the 10T's insanely fast SuperVOOK charging is proprietary tech that requires both the cable and charging brick designed for it to work honestly, it's better that way. The last thing I want is for my phone to blow up or for the battery to wear out in like a month before I need a new one.
A lot of the safety and preservation of the battery happens on device with both the hardware and software. A dual charge pump splits the 125 watts of power running to the device in two to help manage thermals. The VFC trickle charging optimization algorithm that's a lot helps manage the last leg of charging between 90% and 100% to maximize battery longevity.
And a smart charging chip adapts input current and voltage to make sure the battery is fed properly. But what's most impressive is that the 10T's battery is rated to keep up to 80% of its health after 1600 charge cycles. Considering that the iPhone can only guarantee that percentage for 500 charge cycles, and the OnePlus charges over four times quicker, this is seriously impressive stuff.
Real talk, this honestly makes me wish that other phones would incorporate the same type of tech. But I want to know how do you charge your phone? Drop me a line in the comments below. And also huge thanks to OnePlus for sponsoring this video.

talk about it let me pose a question what do you the viewer genuinely value more in a phone is it a bigger battery quicker charging how about wireless charging let me know in the comments below but when it comes to filling our batteries and topping off it's one of those things that's Mission critical to us using them every single day but we often don't think about now that I can blame anyone it's such a passive part of our routine that gets glossed over along with all of the other mundane stuff that we do on the regular like brushing our teeth or walking the dog however because we rely on our smartphone so much to manage our personal and professional lives thinking about how we charge our phones is becoming increasingly important and for a handful of reasons OnePlus who are gracious enough to sponsor this video aren't buying time on the channel to necessarily sell you on the OnePlus 10t or anything like that but rather to spark conversation around this aspect of smartphone
