HTC Desire SV Unboxing & Hands on Overview

Initial Impressions and First Look

We have two slots for adding the sim card and this phone accepts a micro sim card, not the regular one. The first slot is for 3G and the second is just 2G. Let me add my 3G sim card to the same and it goes in here. Now, let's put back the back cover. The camera provided on this phone is supposed to be decent, with an eight megapixel shooter. However, I'm not getting the fact that HTC has converted the front-facing camera on this mobile, which is kind of a bummer in my opinion.

As we try to power it on, it looks like we don't have any special features or settings to go through. Let's just give it some time and see how it boots up. Okay, now that it's booted, let me quickly give you an overview of the phone. We have the 3.5 mm headphone jack over here, the power button is kind of recessed so it's difficult to press, and we have the volume rocker on this end. There's nothing else on the bottom. On the back, we have the eight megapixel camera with LED flash, HTC logo, and a nice grill for the speakerphone.

The Boot Process

As I said, the boot process was pretty good. The screen looks very good, and it's a Super LCD screen. Let me quickly set this up and see how everything works out. Okay, it has booted and an initial setup has been done. Again, the screen looks very good. The android version it ships with is 4.0.4, and HTC Sense version 4.1.

The Technical Specifications

Let's take a look at the technical specifications of this phone. It sports a one gigahertz dual core processor, which should provide pretty responsive performance. We have 768 MB of RAM, which should be enough for smooth operation. The internal storage is 1.1 GB, but we also have phone storage, which is also about 1.1 GB. However, as I said, we can add a micro SD card, and I've added my 2GB micro SD card. This should provide more than enough storage space for most users.

The Network Manager

As this is a dual sim android phone, we have the network manager to set up the default sim. Let's go to the network manager from here and see how it works. We can set the default sim if we like, and as we are connected to my Wi-Fi network, let's also fire up the web browser and take a quick look at it.

The Web Browser

Let's go to techtobias.com and see how the website loaded. It looked fairly quickly in my opinion. Let's try the pinch gesture, which is not as smooth but again I'll test it a lot more in my full review. Okay, the keyboard is very easy to type because it's really wide. So, initial operations on the keyboard are looking decent enough.

The Performance

Let's go to techtobias.com and see how the performance of this phone is. The website loaded fairly quickly. Let's try the pinch gesture again so okay and we do get that text reflow option that we get with HTC browsers. That's also there. Let's open up one of the stories because we have a video embedded in this web page.

The Camera

Let's take a quick look at the camera, which is supposed to be decent. As you can see no problems so initial impressions are looking good. The feel of this phone is actually pretty good, with a rubbery plastic texture that gives a very good grip and feel to the phone.

Conclusion

That's all for now. I hope to see you in my next video.
