has just been announced today and it's offering some great improvements to the note 3 what are those improvements well I do hit that thumbs up button and let's find out this head-to-head spec comparison so starting off with the screen size you've got the same screen size here at 5.7 inch screen on both devices from the note 2 to the note 3 there was a slight increase and also from the note 1 to the note 2 that was a slight increase but they've kept to this screen size I'm glad they kept the screen size I think 5.7 inches is fine anything larger would be a bit too large so they've kept the screen size in terms of the resolution the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a full 1080p resolution so that's 1920 by 1080 they roughly works out to about 386 PPI pixel density now the samsung galaxy note 4 has an improvement on this you've got a quad HD display so that's 2 560 by 1440 roughly about 515 PPI pixel density so definitely a welcomed improvement here because of that larger screen that resolution is gonna work really nicely under that PPI 515 PPI absolutely great it's going to be fully optimized straightaway so lots of apps and things are still up going to be at 1080 but in terms of the user interface images and videos that you have on the phone they're going to be looking absolutely great especially the fact that this is an unlit display so the blacks are going to be very very deep now although both of these devices have the same screen size the note 4 is slightly taller 2.3 millimeters and it's also slightly thicker zero point 2 millimeters in terms of width it is slightly smaller so it's 0.6 millimeter smaller in terms of width so very minimal here it also weighs 8 grams more compared to the note 3 now this slightly larger size in terms of height and also these a little bit more weight goes towards the bill that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a different build compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 so the note 3 you had a leather style back with some fine stitching this was an improvement to the glossy plastic that we had from the note 2 but it still wasn't that premium it does feel really nice in the hand is quite grippy the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 they've gone for a metal frame so this is a full metal frame that you've got yeah and they've got the textured soft pitch back so they still maintain that texture soft touch back you don't have that fake stitching on there anymore but you've got a more premium bill here on a denote for definitely now this is very similar to these something Galaxy alpha so something definitely taking a step in the right direction and going for more premium bills yes the back is still plastic but this means that you've got a removal back which has its advantages which we'll be talking about a little bit later looking at the internals now this is where the Samsung Galaxy Note device is really shined with some very very high specs the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a decent after.can 800 processor that's clocked at 2.3 gigahertz quad-core and you've got the adrenal 330 GPU so at the time of release it was one of the best out there see Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a quad-core 2.7 gigahertz processor and it's the Snapdragon 805 big improvements here in terms of the specs both of these also have the optical versions now these will depend on your market and depending where you're from but the primary version is going to have these specs really really great here but no doubt that these Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is going to be right up there in terms of performance terms of RAM both of these have 3 gigabytes so they've not made an improvement in terms of RAM I think 3 gigabytes on a smart phone is plenty so that's not something that I'm too concerned about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 came in the 32 and the 64 gigabyte storage version so you had two versions available here the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is going to come in the 32 of you buy a version there's nothing confirmed of a 64 gigabyte version as yet I would expect this to happen as we have done in the past in terms of expandable storage both of these have a micro SD card slot 64 gigabytes up to so you've got that expansion there they've not gone for 128 gigabytes from all the confirmed reports they've gone for 64 gigabytes so this would have been nice to have 128 gigabytes on at the note 4 but you've only got the 64 gigabyte storage expansion which is still not too bad now in terms of the cameras the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera it's an absolutely great camera you can see lots of results compared to other devices on this shower I have done lots of tests with it last year so do go ahead and check those out to see the quality on the samsung galaxy note 3 the note 4 has an improvement on here so you've got 16 megapixel rear facing camera but it also comes with optical image stabilization something something haven't done before so this is really going to improve the quality of your shots you're going to get less blurry shots and capturing motion is going to be much much easier and also low-light is going to be improved because of that stability video wise both these from out for case that's two one sixty P so that's absolutely great for K on a smartphone but once again the advantage in the note for is that you've got optical image stabilization so you can get much better footage on the note 3 the focal footage was fine except that you didn't even have digital stabilization so optical stabilization is a long shot you didn't have digital stabilization so the problem with that was is that unless you had it in a static position if you are holding a handheld you would get quite a bit of shake now in terms of the front-facing camera is being Note 3 has a 2 megapixel front-facing camera that's capable filming 1080p HD the note 4 they've made a massive improvement in the front-facing camera this is something that they really emphasize on you've got a three point seven megapixel front-facing camera and it's a sixty percent brighter compared to the note 3 so for your low-light is going to be absolutely great it's going f of 1.9 aperture so it's going to really let in a lot more light so that's an absolutely great thing to see you can also activate it by just touching the heart rate sensor in the back so once again another awesome feature here so it's not going to have that much shake and the angle has also been increased so from 77 degrees to 90 degrees so you're going to be able to fit more people in your group selfies which also refer to as we fees this is something that I've discovered today I'm probably not going to be using that tab much of myself but with the note 3 that famous Oscar selfie that got the most retweets of any tweet in the history of Twitter which was taken on the note 3 so definitely the improvement here from a great camera already is a welcome change and you've also got 120 degree option which is going to like a panorama so you can swipe it it's gonna let you fit in that much more people so this is something there if you'd like to use that now in terms of the operating systems both of these have KitKat so you've got Android kicker on here but they both come with the TouchWiz skin on top now you've got some TouchWiz improvements on the note 4 it's a cleaner interface and you've got also transparency which is supposed to make it look a lot more better now in terms of features so if you look at the feature so the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a USB 3 connector the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a USB to connect and I'm not sure either than this maybe because of the aluminium frame to save space or something but you've only got USB to connect on here competitively USB 3 connector on it the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but other features you've got the heart rate sensor the back which you have on the s5 as well so this is now also on the note 4 and you've got the fingerprint scanner at the front so this is the swipe finger bit sign and I've seen this before it's not absolutely great based on my usage on the Samsung Galaxy s5 you have to swipe rather than just touch so you have to be pretty accurate with it but you've got some huge improvements in terms of the s-pen so you've got some of the new additions here firstly you've got double D pressure sensitivity so it's going to be much more cooler compared to the note 3 and secondly you're on multi window support has been improved so you can swipe from the right and you can minimize a window which is a great feature here not select is going to let you select things across lots of different apps and put them all together in email so you can just sort of take screenshots but just to drag and capture whatever you want smart note is another great feature which is going to let you take pictures of notes that you've taken on a piece of paper on a board or something that's going to convert those in it to actual text which you can edit so another great feature on the note 4 and you've also got the ability to use at the pen as a mouth so because it's more precise now you can also select text as you would do on a mass you can click and drag so that's another great feature here on at the no 4 now in terms of the batteries the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a 3,200 milliamp battery now in terms of usage this is really really good will get you through the day and something key on the note devices it's also removable so you can carry around a spare or charge a spare independently and replace it altogether which is absolutely great now this am saying Galaxy Note 4 they've got three thousand two hundred and twenty million batteries just a small improvement here in terms of the milliamps now because this is a quad HD display you've got that much more pixels that the device is going to be pushing out and having to manage but some things have said they've actually improved efficiency and it's going to be 7.5 percent more efficient compared to the note 3 so that will have to wait and see but that's great to hear but one of the key improvements that you've got the note 4 is fast charging so you can go from zero to fifty percent within 30 minutes so this is twice as fast as the note 3 are definitely welcomed advantage here fast charging is great you can just put it on charge for half an hour one half fifty a brilliant advantage on the note 4 here now finally moving on to the price the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 right now you can pick it up for roughly about 400 pounds in the UK round about $500 in the US so definitely dropped in price as the year has gone past now this is off contract just to show you the value of the device the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 there hasn't been any confirmed pricing as yet but I'd expect it to be between 600 to 650 pounds in the UK or between 700 to 750 dollars in the US now this pricing is based on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 pricing that was last year so this is the sort of price that we were looking at and this is the sort of price that I would expect it to be at so no doubt you're going to be paying more for the you know for competitive note 3 and the note 3 is also going to be dropping in price as well as soon as the note 4's release they're saying release date roughly about October time so those are the key differences between the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 overall I think they've got some great improvements here that quad HD display the faster charging the improved cameras at the rear-facing camera as well as the front-facing camera I'm glad to see that we've got optical image stabilization here as well the beefed up specs so you've got some of the best specs here in terms of the processor as well and finally you've got a premium build here as well on the samsung galaxy
