A Booktubeathon Challenge: My Reading List for August
As I reflect on last year's reading experiences, I realize that I have a book that I've been meaning to read for quite some time. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Cortes is a novel that has been on my shelf forever, with numerous awards under its belt. The book tells the story of two boys, Dante and Aria, who are complete opposites. Dante can swim, while Aria struggles with self-doubt and suffers from difficulties with words. Despite their differences, they support each other through various challenges, making them an emotional and poignant read. I've heard that this book has made many people cry, and I'm eager to experience it for myself.
My second challenge is to read the last book I bought, which is Just One Year by Gayle Forman. This book is a companion to Just One Day, another novel by Forman that I recently finished. While I gave Just One Day five out of five stars, I'm curious to see things from Williams' point of view in this sequel. The format is similar to Midnight Sun, but not quite the same since it's an actual published book. I'm excited to read Williams' perspective and uncover any unanswered questions that remained after finishing the first book.
The third challenge involves reading a book without putting it down. For this, I've chosen The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket, the first book in the beloved series A Series of Unfortunate Events. With its slim page count of 150 pages and enormous font, I'm confident that I can finish this book in one sitting. As a child, I loved reading this series, and the Netflix original adaptation is soon to be released, although it's not confirmed yet due to fan-made content.
My fourth challenge is to read a book that I really want to read. For this, I've selected Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling. As I'm currently re-reading the series, I need to finish this book before moving on to the next one in the series. With its massive page count of 700 pages, I should be able to wrap it up quickly. The magical world of Harry Potter is still so captivating, and I find myself entering a "Harry Potter mood" whenever I think about reading this book.
As part of the Booktubeathon challenges, my seventh challenge involves reading seven books. So far, I've listed six books that I plan on reading during the month. First up is The Golden Elite by Richelle Mead, the second installment in her Bloodline series. Having already read the first book and created a review video for it, I'm eager to dive into this sequel. Next, I have Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan, the second book in the Heroes of Olympus series. Although I've been meaning to finish this book for months, I still haven't sat down and read it. This month, I'll make sure to get around to reading it when I'm on a plane headed to London.
I'd love to hear from my readers about what they plan on reading during August and if they're participating in the Booktubeathon. Please let me know your plans and updates throughout the challenge. I'll be doing daily videos of my progress, so you can follow along with me as I tackle these challenges. Thank you for watching, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
