**Unboxing and Review of Sony Xperia ZR**

I'm actually shooting this video with this new Handycam so do let me know how's the video quality and again as you can see it does uh play it back in HD quality without any issues. So in terms of uh video I had no issues with this phone, this was very clear. Let me get out of this one now and I also tested it with some Standalone videos for example I did download this MX Video Player and I could play back 720p videos and even 1080p videos without any issues and let me show you the same uh 720p video and as you can see it plays it back without any issues also the Bravia Engine does kick in when you play back videos so videos actually look very good as you can see without any issues. The black levels and the reproduction is very good so in terms of video playback you shouldn't have any problems with this phone.

Another good thing is that Sony did not skimp on sensors so most of the sensors work and also I tested it to this compass app and as you can see the compass app works perfectly fine with this phone. Let's also check the multi-touch points and actually you get full 10 multi-touch points uh with this phone so that's also excellent. Also in terms of gaming I didn't have any issues and the touch sensitivity is very good as you can see the phone is very fluid to use. Let me also show you the dialer, this is the standard dialer that we get, let me dial this number and I'll put it on the speakerphone so that you can get an idea about the speaker performance. So as you can see the speakerphone is adequately loud but I would have felt but I would have preferred to be it a little bit louder than this and the voice call Quality also that I got was excellent, I have no problems regarding the same so in terms of voice calls uh it's pretty good.

Also as I said I did test it with Skype video calling and the performance was also very decent I would say. Let me now show you the SMS app, this is the SMS app and let me show you the keyboard, as you can see this is the keyboard we do get, the predictive text for example this is a test, and I found the keyboard to be very comfortable to type and you shouldn't have any problems typing on the keyboard also the keyboard does change to this orientation if you move it. But I did all my testing with the portrait mode and it was pretty comfortable.

**Performance and Battery Life**

So what do I feel about the Sony Xperia ZR again, it's a unique phone by Sony, it has some very powerful specs. One thing I did notice is that as this phone uses the Qualcomm S4 Pro processor that's the correct processor uh while taking a lot of videos and playing some heavy games this area does get a little bit warm it's not hot so it's it's not like some other phones for example the Xperia Z became very hot. Comfortably it's not that bad but it does tend to become a little bit warm but I would say nothing to worry uh regarding that on this Xperia ZR.

So what do I feel about this phone, uh this is a very unique phone by Sony um the pricing is also very good actually as I said the processor and the GPU on this is very good and the added bonus is that it is a waterproof phone so again if you're looking for a pretty powerful phone and you don't want to go over the budget I would say this is an excellent phone. The performance is very good you know it's only cons that I have with the phone is the limited internal storage that Sony has provided that can be a limiting factor, also the screen quality uh though it's very good the viewing angles are simply not that great.

**Conclusion**

Coming to the camera performance also though it's a 13 megapixel camera I would say the performance is just above average not the best apart from that I have no complaints regarding this phone, uh it's a very good phone and as I said the pricing at least as of now in India is very good again this phone does get a big thumbs up from me also I just want to remind you that I have also posted some other videos regarding the Xperia Zeta like gaming Benchmark and the camera reviews all the links to these videos will be in the show notes below so if you're planning to buy uh this phone also check out those video.

the pricing info as you can see the pricing info over here in India it's quoted as 30 990 but Faisal Communications quoted me a street price of Just Around 27 500 for this phone and this phone has some very impressive specs it's Sports of 1.5 gigahertz quad-core processor based on the Qualcomm cart architecture that means it's a very powerful processor and the GPU on this is adreno 320 GPU and it comes with two gigs of RAM coming to the internal storage it has 8 gigs of storage and also it has a provision of micro SD card so you can expand the same and a little con that I have with this phone is that the internal storage though it's just a 8 GB out of that you just get around 4.3 or 4.4 GB and as you can see after installing just a couple of games and apps that can be a limited factor and as with all the modern Android phones coming with Jelly Bean uh you cannot move the apps to the SD card so if you are a person who likes to install a lot of apps and games the internal storage can be a limited factor the good thing is that it comes out of the box with Android version 4.1.2 that's Jelly Bean and as you can see that also coming to the screen quality the screen quality is a 720P HD screen and the screen quality is very good it's very sharp I would say uh the thing is that the viewing angles as with most of the Sony Xperia phones like the Z and the ZL are not very good if you tilt it too much it fades in and as you are seeing with the most of the new Android phones by Sony uh the navigation buttons are part of the display the back home and this is the multitasking tray and we do get get this mini apps like this and you can they can be run over an existing app so it's kind of multitasking and before I proceed let me give you a quick physical overview on the top you'll notice this is the headphone jack again you notice this flap the reason for that is as I said this phone is a waterproof phone so all the flaps are covered and if you move down we have this new iconic power on off button we have the volume rocker over here and we also have a dedicated button for the camera moving towards the bottom we have the microphone and on this end we have a proprietary uh connector for the dock and this flap also opens and this reveals the micro USB slot that will be used for charging again as it's a waterproof phone and actually does prompt us also if this is open and if you leave it open to put it back because the waterproofing features will go for a toss if you don't uh properly seal these moving towards the back it has a 13 megapixel rear facing camera uh LED flash it has also NFC tab capable and we just have the Xperia logo over there and at the bottom we have the opening for the speakerphone though this is a waterproof phone the good thing is that the back cover can be opened the back cover is plastic but this gives a rubberish feel so it's nice to hold and the battery is also removable uh it's a 2 300 milliampere battery and if we remove this battery we have the slot for adding a Micro SD card and a micro SIM and regarding the battery life uh I would say it can last you one working day without any issues under normal circumstances again if you do a lot of gaming it tanks a little bit but overall I was satisfied with the battery life no issues regarding the same I'm moving towards the front again we have this opening for this speaker grid uh the front facing camera is just a VG as it was surprising that the rear facing camera is a 13 megapixel and the front facing camera is just a VGA but I did tried it with Skype and I was able to make the sky video calls without any issues and the quality was decent I would say it also has the other sensors like proximity sensor ambient light sensors and the screen is a 4.55 inch screen and it's a 720p HD screen that means the resolution is 1280 by 720. again as you can see it's very gorgeous it looks like this first slab of black glass and actually the bottom area is LED and if you get a missed call or something this close and it looks very elegant I would say when I show you the gallery I'll show you that and Sony has used the new UI and it's actually very close to stock it's not completely stocked if you go down you do get this quick toggles but the sad thing is you cannot customize these so you have uh stuck with that uh we have the sound we have the Bluetooth Wi-Fi and the mobile data connection toggles over here for other settings you need to go in here but the phone is very responsive I would say and again this skin is not very bloated and it does a good job you can add extra home screen if you want if you by just swiping this and adding this so that's great and this is the homes uh what do you say app trade like this and you can also order it according to alphabetically or most use so we do have quite a bit of customization in terms of pre-loaded apps uh Sony did the install quite a few apps for example Adobe Reader Evernote WhatsApp file command Sony left Omega fee office suit and Linkedin and all these apps were pre-installed so that's what you get with this and now we are connected to my Wi-Fi network so let's just quickly uh fire up the web browser uh let's use the Chrome web browser and it's going to our website take two bars automatically I just was browsing let's just go back and the web browsing was very good I would say let me just do the pinch to zoom gesture as you can see very responsive also it can play back what do you say uh videos that are embedded on the web page for example a YouTube video is embedded on this webpage and let's play it back again changing our orientation was also very smooth this is my Samsung Galaxy S4 uh so as you can see it could play that back without any issues the speaker is also decently not not very loud I would say I have seen louder speakers from Sony but it's a little bit chilled I would say and let's also just go to one more site for example let's go to news.com and let's force it to desktop it's loading the desktop site now and again as you see it loads at without any issues and let's do the pinch to zoom gesture again that's a very powerful phone I have to say and it handles web browsing and stuff like this without any issues also as it has two gigs of RAM there is ample RAM available to the phone so I hardly faced issues of lag Etc on this phone even while generally using the phone I hardly faced issues of lag so Sony did very good optimization with this phone let's swipe away all the apps and let's run this Android system info and as you can see out of that 2GB we have almost 1.2 GB that is free that's amazing I would say hence the phone was very responsive all the time during my testing now let's talk about gaming and here also the game the phone performs very well I could run heavy games like asphalt Etc and also the good thing about this phone is that it does support usb OTG so you can attach pen drives like this by just using a OTG cable and also I tried it with the PS3 controller and it worked you can check out the gaming review in which I did play some games and also did play this dead trigger with the PS3 controller also coming to the benchmarks I got very good scores I've already made a dedicated video regarding the benchmarking so you can check out that for more info now coming to the camera the camera I did notice that let me fire it and it takes approximately two seconds to load up so it's a little bit slow I would say and the camera performance is generally good you can just tap in and it takes the synapse pretty quickly uh in natural lighting it does take the snaps a lot better I would say than windows indoors there is sometimes a little bit of noise that Creeps in and this phone has a tendency to not fire The Flash actually I made a separate video regarding the camera performance in which I showed you the what do you say a lot of sample shots that I took with this phone and videos with that so if you are interested in that you can check out that one thing I have to say is that as this phone has the Bravia 2 engine uh the photos or whatever you that you take on the phone look are actually a lot better than they really are and as you can see this is the LED notification light that I was talking about so yes the photos might look very vibrant on the phone but when you put it on the PC they might not look that vibrant so you need to be a little bit careful now let's talk about media playback and here also this phone Excel I would say let's start with some YouTube videos and uh you're going to watch my Channel's videos and we're going to watch my Channel videos that's kikiranjit and uh let's look at this Sony Handycam unboxing video I'm actually shooting this
