BUDGET COOLING KING_GAMMAX 300 CPU COOLER 2018 REVIEW!

Coolers Have Been Stepping Up Their Game

One of the most notable developments in the cooler market has been the improvement of coolers by the company Cool Has Been. It's worth noting that their name is indeed a play on words, but it still holds true as they have been making significant strides in terms of performance and design. Steve from Hardware Unboxed recently used a Deep Cool 200A GAM-X 200, which is a two-cup or heat pipe unit, to compare its performance with the stock cooler.

In my opinion, the Deep Cool GAM-X 300 is probably pretty close in terms of performance to a Hyper 212. It has a fin stack that's on the shorter side compared to the Hyper 212, but it makes up for it with three heat pipes. The unit also features universal mounting for Intel and AMD, although I don't think it supports AM4. The GAM-X 300 can accommodate motherboards as far back as socket 775, including M3 and M3 Plus. One of the standout features of this cooler is its simplicity, especially when it comes to installation on the back of the motherboard.

For Intel, the cooler uses clips just like a stock Intel cooler, making it very easy to install. However, one of the real draws with this cooler was that it was available for around $13 on Amazon initially. Unfortunately, it's now sold out and no longer available on Amazon, but I found it on another website called Outlet PC for $15, which is a pretty good deal considering its price.

Performance Numbers

To test the performance of the Deep Cool GAM-X 300, I used the worst-case scenario with a 130-watt CPU, such as the Zeon W35-65 aka the i7-960. The max power draw on all tests was around 147 watts, which put this cooler under significant stress. In Prime95 Blend for 20 minutes, the cooling system managed to keep temperatures under control, even when pushing the CPU to its limits.

In contrast, when I switched over to the Deep Cool GAM-X 300, we saw a notable improvement in performance. The max temperature on two cores was around 75°C, with one core reaching 74°C and another at 72°C. This represents a significant drop of 10 degrees compared to the stock cooler, which struggled to keep temperatures under control.

The Deep Cool GAM-X 300 is undoubtedly a great option for those looking for a budget-friendly CPU cooler that can deliver performance comparable to more expensive options. Its simplicity, combined with its ability to handle high power draws, make it an attractive choice for many users. However, one drawback of this cooler is that it only comes with the blue fan, which may not be suitable for everyone's theme.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I believe that the Deep Cool GAM-X 300 is probably going to be the budget king of CPU coolers. Unfortunately, its availability seems to be limited due to high demand, but if you're looking for a reliable and affordable cooling solution, this cooler should definitely be on your radar. With its ability to handle high power draws and deliver performance comparable to more expensive options, it's clear that Deep Cool has hit the nail on the head with this design.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys crystal coalition gaming here and we have a budget cool review for you all stay with on the budget side of things when doing a build trying to find the best cooler for the lowest dollars is always pretty important you want to get the best performance but you don't want to go too cheap to the point where you're not doing any better than the stock cooler or anything like that well there have been a few on the market and the old staple is the hyper 212 now the hyper 212 has been sort of I guess upstaged by other coolers namely probably the cryo rig one of those ones is that usually floats around thirty dollars I think it's the H thirty something like that and other coolers as well and there's ones from all the Express China ones that are also taking the Thunder from it well deep cool has a cooler that has also been flying under the radar in my opinion now if you guys watch our previous video for the 200 ish dollar budget build linked right over here you'll see that we use the deep cool gam axe 300 deep cool has been really stepping the game up with her coolers I guess it's in their name so maybe they should but in a different video Steve from hardware unboxed he used a deep cool 200a gam X 200 and that's a two cup or heat pipe one and and well that might be better than the stock cooler it isn't as good as deep cool gam x 300 which is a three copper heat pipe unit and in my opinion it's probably pretty close in terms of performance to a hyper 212 so that is this guy right here so as you can see it has a fin stack that is a bit on the shorter side compared to a hyper 212 but three heat pipes it has universal mounting for Intel and it's an AMD but I don't think they support a m4 but it should go up to a m3 m3 plus probably as far back as socket 775 the link in the description that link will be in the description below if you want to have any more information want any more information on it but cool thing about this one is it's very simple especially if you don't have a open spot to install it on the back that for Intel just uses the clips just like a stock Intel cooler so that's pretty cool what the real draw was with this cooler though is that when I bought it for the original build that I mentioned it was about $13 on Amazon now the last time I checked it wasn't on Amazon anymore rather it was sold out harder to get probably I guess it caught on is a pretty good budget cooler but I found it on another website called outlet PC for $15 like 14 and change something like that so I ordered it up for another budget bill that I'm working on so subscribe you're gonna see that budget build come pretty soon anyways let's get on to the performance numbers so I went for the worst case scenario with this and put a hundred and thirty watt CPU on that that is the Zeon W 35 65 aka the i7 960 so again 130 watt max power draw on all tests got up to 147 watts and that really put this Intel stock cooler under a lot of stress hitting a max temp of 85 c on two cores 84 on another and then 82 on the last core idle temp was around 41 to 44 the ambient temp in the room was about 75 see or not see sorry 75 degrees Fahrenheit and I'm not really sure that translate to see probably around 24 I think so yeah there you go 147 watts is what this was running up to under prime95 blend for 20 minutes and bland I think represents a good balance of what you would be doing on a daily basis in terms of gaming and general use on the computer so when we switched over to the game X 300 we had a max temp of 75 C 74 C on to course and then 72 C on one core that is lit straight up 10 degree drop on each metric so 85 C was on two cores this one was 84 74 c on to course rather 85 was also the peak 75 was the peak here and then 82 was the lowest of that in that test and on this one it was 72 so the game x300 without a doubt I'll perform the stock cooler sure but for the money I think it's really great for a stock setup especially considering the fact I threw a worst case scenario test at this 147 Watt had a three copper heat pipe cooler hmmm I think if you use something more modern like a 95 watt processor or something even less than that that you have a little bit more Headroom for overclocking so this little 15 dollar cooler can probably get you a mild overclock as well with the lower wattage CPU anyways that's a little quick review on this gam x 300 I'm gonna go ahead and say that this is probably going to be to me the budget king of CPU coolers and unfortunately it seems to be only available with the blue fan on there so if your doesn't go with your theme sorry tough luck I guess it does seem to have clips that will hold it to the cooler so maybe you can switch the fan out but I'm not entirely sure of 120 will fit with the clips that the way they are so you know if it doesn't go with the theme or whatever but if you're looking for something on a budget that'll work this will do the trick for you guys so links will be in the description below if you like this video click that like button hit that subscribe button we always got more coming more featuring this more featuring some other
