The Rushed Test Drive: A Quick Look at the Porsche 718 Cayman S
Hello and welcome to our next daily series, where we're going to take a closer look at a car that's been generating a lot of buzz. Today, we have the opportunity to drive the Porsche 718 Cayman S, courtesy of Tony from Gerber Wood Car Sales. We've got cameras set up around the car, and I'm excited to see how this new model stacks up against its predecessors.
As soon as I first heard that I was going to be driving a 718 Cayman S, I have to admit that I was a bit surprised. The 991 Carrera S was at the top of my list for test drives, but Tony suggested we mix things up and try something new. And so, here we are, about to embark on what promises to be a thrilling experience.
I've got to say, I'm a bit excited to be behind the wheel of this car. The 718 Cayman S has been generating a lot of attention since its launch, and I'm eager to see if it lives up to the hype. One thing that's caught my eye is the four-cylinder turbocharged engine - something that was new to Porsche when the 718 was introduced. However, as Tony pointed out, this isn't just a novelty; every Porsche model now features some form of turbocharging.
Tony and I were both excited to get behind the wheel and see what the 718 Cayman S had to offer. As we made our way around the block, it quickly became apparent that this car is meant to be enjoyed. The mid-engine layout provides a unique driving experience, with the driver sitting right in the middle of the action. And let me tell you, it's exhilarating.
One of the features that caught my attention was the optional sports exhaust system. Tony and I were both impressed by the sound - a nice balance between aggression and finesse. The car is also equipped with some luxurious touches, such as heated steering wheel and cruise control, which add to its overall sense of occasion. And then there's the design; the front wheel arches are more aggressive than on previous Cayman models, giving this one a bit of an edge.
As we drove around, Tony mentioned that he's always been drawn to new cars, and I have to admit that I am too. There's something about the thrill of driving a brand-new car that just can't be beat. And that's exactly what it feels like to drive the 718 Cayman S - fresh, exciting, and full of possibilities.
Of course, not everyone is going to be a fan of the 718 Cayman S. As Tony pointed out, this is a controversial model, and some fans might feel that it doesn't live up to the standards set by its predecessors. But for me, that's part of the appeal - I enjoy trying new things and pushing myself as a driver.
One thing that's clear from our time behind the wheel is that the 718 Cayman S is an incredibly fun car to drive. It's fast, agile, and responsive, making it a blast to navigate through corners and straights alike. And yet, despite its performance capabilities, this car feels surprisingly easy to live with on a daily basis.
So, what do you guys think? Do you have a favorite Cayman model - perhaps the 981? Or are you more interested in the new 718? Let us know in the comments below! We want to hear from you and get your feedback on this exciting new car. And don't forget to like and subscribe for all the test drives still to come, including head-to-head showdowns between our favorite models.
Now that we've finished our time with the Porsche 718 Cayman S, it's time to get back behind the wheel and see what other adventures await us. Thanks for joining me on this quick look at this exciting new car - I hope you enjoyed it!
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlike hello I want another look into seeing through glass and welcome to what might potentially be the most rushed test drive of the my next daily series you join us in the Porsche 718 Cayman S Tony from Gerber wood car sales is here he is very kindly arranged for us to drive this car today bah it's a very quick test drive this is literally the dealer's have gone yep go take it for a quick spin and we stock some cameras up it is a car in advance of today I've been incredibly excited about experiencing and driving and from the two minutes that I've spent in it I've got exceptionally excited to be oh my god oh this is dangerous this is very dangerous now when I first drew up the list for the my next daily test drives the 991 Carrera S was the Porsche on that list and he went don't be silly Sam do something new and get something a little bit more so we started looking at Caymans and in fact I actually put a tweet out asking you guys about I'm overexcited to Nene now so yes I've read this tweet out because I know that it's quite controversial subject when the 718 got launched with its four-cylinder turbocharged engine but if you look across the entire Porsche range now every but they're all going to attraction I mean the whole world's gonna charge ya we've gotta get used to it 2017 new cars are turbocharged yeah so I was never that bothered about it but I knew that people were big fans than anyone's especially the GTS and when you look on the news market that's the prices are pretty similar 981 GTS I don't know what 718 came in s they're kind of around the same point but personally and I know you're gonna agree with me here we like new things don't we do we like new things and as I say I'm totally happy and embracing of turbocharger we like 15 year old I'm good yeah well that but that's another reason why I would like my day to be something within you yeah for sure so I leaned personally on the side of 718 to you or you and nine eight one man you've got a GT for still don't you everyone knows oh um so are you more than the engine sure but this is a better car yes well this is the thing you have won this you know the 1710 didn't use your name oh yeah well the thing is on people it's a better car this cellmaxx a car there's a car as a car and what I love is that it's really usable we're getting over the performance in a second but it's got two boots fun and reactors mid-engine car it's got surround sound Scott because it's got cruise control got heated steering wheel which I keep accidentally turning on and off yeah it looks a bit more aggressive when you we sat here you get the front wheel arches this look a bit more sharp and it it feels like it's a proper sense of occasion if yours are you getting something special about a mid-engine sports car which is what this is let's talk about that for a second because down here I've got this 918 Manatee no no it's not like a Porsche optimum settings switch possums anyway I mean low at the minute you know that means oh yeah go s forespore as we've discovered the most important setting Sport Plus now this car does have the optional sports exhaust and I think we were both army doesn't even sound that good this car even with the small sauce / it's fast and I'm not that worried about that nobody's like it sounds no silence like an electric car of course it's not the nicest turn it's a bit flat but it sounds like my oppa up in some ways that was a four-cylinder as well so I'm not so against that if you stand outside and give us some reps it does pop and bang and crack alright I'm pretty sure if you do a classic you cheaper treatment of I bought a new card I snuck a few weeks it's not there it's just the speed it picks up and this is typical for employment as its serving up I haven't really ever got Porsche until for some reason in the last couple of months like what it's like little Porsche it's like I need to scratch it I don't know where it's come from probably LA as I mentioned before they're everywhere and people are really passionate about the nos I go and this really feels like it's properly scratching the edge it feels there's a proper table yeah inherently Porsche but up here and I'm not sure anything else is gonna get this may be the TT RS but then you in a Quattro outtie that's probably gonna understand to this bridge is not very cold it might be like I go in a straight line yeah but as a driver's car this feels feels the most of you know supercar Wii Sports II but as a daily if I gonna live with this the my choice that's a special would that be and its new its new and I'm just a sucker for new things yes Sean I'd have you ever done this where you go into like a super marker and they're playing something I'm allowed to be good you end up buying a CD in your juillet shop that when you buy a new Sheila ever play music basically I like new shiny things and there's something about this which is just lovely I've really liked it Tony I really like it and it's a shame that unfortunately have such short terminates it's not a traditional video in that sense but it's a car that I really wanted to make sure I got in and of course I wanted to share the experience with you guys and I want to know your thoughts because it's going to be controversial this the 718 is a controversial caiman if I don't forget this issue entirely yeah good point this is a no yeah but I find it important type of date that I really like you talked about this and as a daily car this is much better than that than the old three point I enjoy because you had to rev that to get it going this interesting but he sort of loaded okay to usually use everyday sure this is wise and you'll save a bit of fuel yeah faster so yes I would love to know if they don't forget we are trying to involve you guys as much as possible in this entire series and the best and biggest way you can get involved is by liking or like in the car that you like the most whichever car from this edge of service you have enjoyed the most I think is the best car for me to choose give that video a big thumbs up give it a like because we will then be going back and considering that car hopefully in a head-to-head shootout will buy the wild card yeah the Walker died still to go so but yes I always buy I am definitely play mine this is like for me top because I'm doing it because you involved I know anyway as I say we want to hear from you guys so comment below if you're big 981 came in fans let us know if you'll be 718 came in fans give it a big thumbs up that is the key thing that's what we need you to do I guess now we've got to go and get this car back it's a bit sad anyway guys short but sweet video I hope you've enjoyed it give it a thumbs up if you have a mate or subscribe for all the test drives still to come\n"
