The Genesis GV80 is a luxury SUV that offers a unique blend of features and technologies that set it apart from its competitors. One of the standout aspects of this vehicle is its interior, which is described as "very nice" with a "soft and comfortable ride". The drive train, specifically the supercharger in the GD80, is seen as not being particularly noteworthy, with the speaker stating that it doesn't add a lot to the driving experience. However, the interior space of the GV80 is considered one of its strengths, with the speaker noting that it's on par with, if not better than, many of its competitors.
In terms of technology, the Genesis GV80 has a strong showing, with features like advanced safety suites and user-friendly interfaces that make it easy to operate. The interior space is also notable for its isolation and quietness, making it ideal for long-distance cruising. However, when it comes to dynamics, such as ride control and chassis refinement, the GV80 falls short of some of its competitors. Specifically, it lacks the air suspension and rear steer features found in some BMW models.
The speaker notes that one of the key advantages of the GV80 is its ability to provide a unique driving experience that sets it apart from other luxury SUVs on the market. While it may not be the most refined or dynamic driver, it's well-suited for those who value comfort and quietness above all else. In particular, it shines when it comes to providing a smooth ride at high speeds, making it an excellent choice for long-distance driving.
When comparing the GV80 to its competitors, such as BMW and Audi, the speaker notes that it has some notable advantages. While it may not be as refined or dynamic as these models, it offers a more comprehensive suite of technologies and features that make it well-suited for those who value practicality and ease of use. Additionally, its interior space is considered to be one of its strongest suits, making it an excellent choice for families or individuals who prioritize comfort and convenience.
One of the key areas where the GV80 stands out from its competitors is in terms of its overall quality and refinement. The speaker notes that it has a "high-quality" feel, with a well-integrated interior and a range of features that make it feel premium without feeling overly complicated or confusing. This attention to detail and commitment to quality is likely to appeal to buyers who are looking for a luxury SUV that feels truly exceptional.
Ultimately, the Genesis GV80 is a strong contender in the luxury SUV market, offering a unique blend of features, technologies, and qualities that set it apart from its competitors. While it may not be perfect, with some areas where it falls short (such as dynamics and ride control), it's well-suited for those who prioritize comfort, quietness, and practicality above all else. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly SUV or a luxurious long-distance cruiser, the GV80 is definitely worth considering.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey how you doing you're looking for SUVs you're in the right spot we got two of them gv80 Coupe and the regular SUV this competes with the likes of BMW Mercedes or Audi and chances are you don't want one of those you want a Genesis so here's the primary differences the SUV coup is four doors and it looks a bit more Sleek it's got exhaust tips it's supposed to be more sporty and it gets the 3.5 L V6 with an E Supercharger so you're getting a little bit more power it's hybridized now the regular SUV gets an option for a three row on the lower trim levels and you know this is not a true three row SUV the back seats are just there to throw I don't know somebody that's 2 in tall back there you're going to roll with the seats down mostly but when you put these Side by side surprisingly other than the angle of the roof roof on the coupe uh it doesn't you don't lose that much in terms of storage yes it is smaller but you're you're not losing that much so it depends on what you're looking for now the outside can be specked out in some interesting paint colors as long as you're color blind there are literally it's almost laughable the color palette it's just black and variations of gray and white you can't even tell some of the colors apart but the good part is when you look at the inside of this it doesn't carry over the same mistake this is the turtle Sunday interior with the brown and the the black it it just looks really really good it's one thing that you will definitely notice the more time you spend in it it's a super solid isolated experience the materials are really well thought of there's great geometry most of the ergonomics are good the SUV Coupe that we get has the Marino Cherry interior with the red and the black again really really nice and you really don't appreciate it until you get in here so the layout has been updated quite a bit you know the HVAC controls are slightly different this now has a single piece bonded glass infotainment screen there's no longer a threaded screen that's too different it's OLED the display quality is very very good however the dash you know it's with these stuck on screens it still looks stuck on and because you're sitting in a higher seating position I I never feel like I'm really you know in the right position to look at the screen I much rather prefer it being integrated in the dash or more wraparound or curved but it is a good display the infotainment is a a different take on things unfortunately it does not have wireless Apple carplay or Android auto the audio system the upper end is banging Olson it does sound pretty good and you can tweak it for a bright or more warm to your preferences a little bit better than some of the audio systems without having a full EQ sorry to interrupt this video I know you're learning a lot about the infotainment but I wanted to take an opportunity to talk about me because that's all that matters and I wanted to say you know there's a certain place in your life you get where you need to take a break whether it's from your family your friends your job and for me I've left all of those multiple times to just get away and today I realized sitting in front of my computer that Jack has chained me to my desk editing all of his Porsche content everything revolves around that for him from the wallpapers that he allows me to cycle through my folder structur is just all a bunch of his Porsche cars and I decided I'm like look I'm going to do some driving on the simulator so I can practice and I find out that he's taken over my iRacing account now I can only drive Porsches and there's only so much of that I can take before I can no longer operate like a normal man so I decided I'm going to clear my head and take a drive just let the world go by and I'm going to go to one of my favorite places to get a meal and I get there and I find out that Jack's dad had closed down my local Arby's he literally bought it just to shut it down so I couldn't go there anymore and Jack is worried about my health he wants me to be working 24/7 and I open up the trunk to pull out uh a chainsaw to cut down the fence and I found some Factory meals and Jack is really pushing the factory meals for me because it's a healthy option I don't have to cook they arrive at my door they are a fresh meal it's prepared by chefs for me I can enjoy the meal on the go and it literally takes about 2 minutes to pop it in the microwave and I just sat there and I enjoyed my food while I looked at that building empty vacant where I had so many good times with my family my third wife and my fourth wife wife used to bring the kids there and we would have a couple Arby's Roast beefs but now that's over and now it's time to eat healthy and that's what I'm trying to get at here is if you want some of the best food in the industry delivered to you you can have it head to factor75.com or click the link below and use code Savage geese 50 to get 50% off your first Factor box and 20% off your next month of orders that's code Savage ge50 factor75.com to get 50% off your first Buy plus 20% off your next month's orders come on you deserve a break like me and you deserve more Porsche content too the main thing you're going to walk away from is its overall livability in terms of the the solid quiet nature of this cabin it feels more German than it does Korean seating comfort's great you have Ergo motion seats which adjust themselves so you don't get sore on longer trips in the front in the back you know the seats are tremendous there's really good thoughts of detail it's a quality interior and all the physicality of the controls feel mostly good there's kind of some cheapness around the the d-pad rotary knob for the buttons look kind of generic but I mean honestly this is very good for its price point we're going to get into the shop and Jack's going to talk about some of the technical details in the shop with the 2025 Genesis gv80 SUV and coupe the gv80 represents one of the most important products for Genesis as a brand brand here in North America it's about a third of total sales so how do these vehicles differ well they share the identical wheelbase however the coupe is of course a little bit shorter to lend of that sportier design language and it is longer there are also differences in the trim options for these vehicles so let's start with the regular SUV you get three different options as far as drivetrains you get a 2.5 L sort of family 4-cylinder turbocharged engine from Hyundai your Genesis this makes in this configuration 300 horsepower it is all-wheel drive as standard it puts it power down through an 8-speed automatic gearbox then you move up to the 3.5 L twin turbocharged V6 it makes 375 horsepower it's port and direct injected puts its power down through the same gearbox obviously it's rear biased and lastly you have the drivetrain that's only optional in the coupe version of this which is the electric supercharged 3.5 L twin turbo V6 it's the same V6 with a 48 volt system in this vehicle's case makes 409 horsepower it's a very similar system if not identical to what you find in the g90 all of these vehicles are obviously built on the same platform it is genesis's M3 architecture it's the same platform that's shared with the G80 essentially compared to their outgoing architecture there's a a larger use of high strength steel the body is more rigid less nvh makes it way into the vehicle the extra high strength steel and changes in manufacturing processes also help with the body structure being more rigid less twisting forces for the second or third row occupants to deal with case of course of the gv80 coupe you can't get this as a three row vehicle suspension tuning or suspension the base four cylinder has passive dampers as standard you can get optional Rada Ahad dampers threee head dampers essentially read the road ahead using GPS and the front C uh and the front cameras to adjust the ride quality to make this as luxurious as possible lastly you optionally get an elsd it comes stand standard on the gv80 coupe however it is an option on the gv80 regular SUV it's only found in the highest trim level the other thing bring up of course is braking all of these vehicles share the same essential brake setup they get a little bigger and more powerful when you move up to the bigger engines but the top trimmed Vehicles get 22s sadly in the case of the regular SUV that's the only way you get an elsd the compromise of the 22s is ride quality they don't ride as well that's the one big thing I could say the gv80 doesn't do well despite its luxury push is compared to a lot of its competitors it just it's pretty harsh over big bumps but with all that said I think it's time for us to go take this for a quick drive with Mark Jack take me uphill I will Sport Plus we're in the coupe we're going to combine the coupe and the regular SUV Drive segment into one video um Mark you're a wealthy man your father ran a septic Empire no that's not how it plays out people how do you want to play this out though no I'm just saying I'm misunderstood you know I lived in South Korea and what I did is I bought up all the septic fields and now I'm licensing it back as a a septic as a service like so you have to have a subscription to get connected to your septic tank to to fill it up otherwise yeah and you need a an active data connection so it's a little different than what people think and now that I have $6 billion dollar I'm ready for a gv80 so are you going to buy the coupe or no I want the E supercharger I want I want oh she's a mover in a Shaker Jack yes she is uh my dad would really like this anyway how does this feel compared to the regular turbo twin twin turbocharger V6 do you notice a big difference mean honestly like if you're going to compare the driving character they're almost identical I mean there's there's nothing perceptible in terms of ride uh handling is almost identical the big difference here versus the 3.5 without the e supercharger is this car gets a Sport Plus mode and it gets an adjustable sport mode for your brake by wire calibration for your brake pedal so it it this this definitely has a little bit more Edge to it in Sport Plus plus the car will rotate a bit more the transmission performance seems to be a bit better more responsive if you're driving that way but honestly it rematch down downshifts more aggressively than it does in the regular SUV I don't think that this is completely necessary I think the power that it adds is negligible I think the performance that it adds is negligible for a basically a vehicle that's tuned to be buoyant this thing is just feels like you're on the Open Seas there's so much body motion it is a very very soft riding vehicle and I think the 3.5 L the one without the e supercharger feels T and better to me namely off the line there's less hesitation more linear yeah it's more it feels more natural so if it was my money I would skip this at least for now so I want to know from you like what's the coupe bring to the table coupe the coupe SUV bring to the table that has four doors honestly not a whole lot it's a styling exercise more than anything to me the problem with the coupe SUV is the gv80 exists because it's a value in my opinion right if in the shop segment everything's steel I don't think the drive train is as good as it's German Rivals but it's cheaper it's cheaper and you get more Lu yes and the interior space is very very nice looking once you get up to this thing which is like $886,000 if if you want another Copa SUV a BMW X6 is basically the same price for the same options I would argue that the x 6 is hideous pred to this it looks horrible at least this has some more neutral styling I wouldn't say it I would say that the regular SUV the regular gv80 looks better it looks more natural this is more in line with what you get with the Q8 and the the Cayenne Coupe it looks more natural um without a lot of sacrifices as you were talking about earlier there's not a lot of sacrifices in terms of usability yes it's smaller but um I know to me all right looks aside objectively though I feel like it's a better car the X6 versus this for the same amount of money I think so I think so and that becomes the hard part where like in the the GV 80s case that thing fully loaded the SUV we have is like in the mid 70s Which is less than an equivalently equipped German car and the interior is very very nice the drive Train's really smooth like I understand why you would buy that I don't I don't think the E supercharger in the gd80 adds a lot to the Driving Experience to your point it's not bad I just don't think it's worth the several thousand Delta over the regular twin turbo V6 at least in my time with this car yeah this is and I said this to you right when we got in it I'm like this is such a you know the 3.5 adequate for this car it's smooth however I think the the main thing is you know it's kind of like this is I would rather see this electrified like just a full size electrified SUV because you get rid of the drivetrain problems with this that it has and it's just do you want more complication to make this marginally better than a regular internal combustion car you know and I think that's the argument but okay if you don't care about that you're going to like the way it's soft most of the time in Comfort mode which is where you're going to leave it it's mostly docile it's super quiet the audio systems decent the electronics are great so that's why you would choose this it's really well packaged and integrated together and it feels very high quality and it's an alternate to the Trident you know like everybody buys Mercedes or Audi or BMW it definitely gives you a sense of uniqueness namely like the other one the matte paint it does have a presence to it it definitely does I I think the best part about this vehicle maybe something he does even better than the German Rivals is sit like 75 mph on the highway it's ultra quiet you have a nice interior space you have all the technology that works pretty well in this car and you can rely on the it basically driving itself the L assist you just sit there have an ergonomic stretch from your seat from the driver's seat and relax and hopefully you don't fall asleep behind the wheel yeah this is definitely like that like longdistance Cruiser I mean they did a really good job at knowing their target audience that just wants a giant boat on Wheels that's super quiet and that's that's what it accomplishes to a really high level like it does a great job with that the typical stuff that doesn't do so well is it's not as good as the German rivals in terms of Dynamics uh damping body control like the some of the finer some of the big wheel ride like there's some initial harshness yep there's some harshness to it but it's it's like maybe 10% worse and I think where it's 10% better is maybe an isolation in terms of quietness and refinement part so anyway I'm going to leave it at that Jack all right Mark let's have you wrap this up with the final thoughts sir thank you take me to Korea so I rear end this Navigator you're doing them a favor so the conclusion of the gv80 the coupe and the regular SUV are so similar in almost every single way it's hard to tell them apart it's just what you care about in terms of appearance so the pros of this is it does technology far better than its competition that's including the Germans and the Japanese they have a really solid understanding of how to make it easy to use quick and fast to operate and the safety Suite is very very good for its price point the interior space is also on another level compared to what the Japanese are doing when you look at modern Lexus it feels very more generic the Acura definitely needs to be updated also in terms of Technology this feels far better and even more interesting it has that X Factor on the interior space that a lot of the Germans don't have for this price point now what it doesn't have is the chassis refinement and ride control and the drivet trains of some of the Germans namely the BMW and like the Audi counter part you get into the Audi and Mercedes for example you know you're getting things like air ride you're getting rear steer you're getting some of these things that elevate the ride this does not have it so it splits the difference between the Japanese and the Germans again I don't think that you're looking at this because you you're a BMW fan or if you love BMW SUVs are going to buy that 10 out of 10 times I think you're really trying to find the better luxury product it's very soft regardless of not having the ultimate refinement of some of the other cars it has a great interior in terms of isolation so you know why would you choose this I think it's mostly the interior and the quietness of it uh above everything else and of course the technology if that's what you're looking for you're probably going to choose this over the other competitors thank you for watching I'll see you next videohey how you doing you're looking for SUVs you're in the right spot we got two of them gv80 Coupe and the regular SUV this competes with the likes of BMW Mercedes or Audi and chances are you don't want one of those you want a Genesis so here's the primary differences the SUV coup is four doors and it looks a bit more Sleek it's got harshness yep there's some harshness to it but it's it's like maybe 10% worse and I think where it's 10% better is maybe an isolation in terms of quietness and refinement part so anyway I'm going to leave it at that Jack all right Mark let's have you wrap this up with the final thoughts sir thank you take me to Korea so I rear end this Navigator you're doing them a favor so the conclusion of the gv80 the coupe and the regular SUV are so similar in almost every single way it's hard to tell them apart it's just what you care about in terms of appearance so the pros of this is it does technology far better than its competition that's including the Germans and the Japanese they have a really solid understanding of how to make it easy to use quick and fast to operate and the safety Suite is very very good for its price point the interior space is also on another level compared to what the Japanese are doing when you look at modern Lexus it feels very more generic the Acura definitely needs to be updated also in terms of Technology this feels far better and even more interesting it has that X Factor on the interior space that a lot of the Germans don't have for this price point now what it doesn't have is the chassis refinement and ride control and the drivet trains of some of the Germans namely the BMW and like the Audi counter part you get into the Audi and Mercedes for example you know you're getting things like air ride you're getting rear steer you're getting some of these things that elevate the ride this does not have it so it splits the difference between the Japanese and the Germans again I don't think that you're looking at this because you you're a BMW fan or if you love BMW SUVs are going to buy that 10 out of 10 times I think you're really trying to find the better luxury product it's very soft regardless of not having the ultimate refinement of some of the other cars it has a great interior in terms of isolation so you know why would you choose this I think it's mostly the interior and the quietness of it uh above everything else and of course the technology if that's what you're looking for you're probably going to choose this over the other competitors thank you for watching I'll see you next video\n"
