Season 5 Premiere - Drift Car

Welcome to Mighty Car Mods Season 5!

We're excited to announce that this season is going to be massive, with new mods and new cars that will take your breath away! And we're kicking off the season with one of our favorite projects - a Nissan 180SX. But before we dive into the details, let's catch up with our mate Marty, who has been waiting patiently for us to work on his beloved 180.

So, what took so long? Well, it turns out that I had an arrangement with Marty, and there were some special conditions that I put in place before we could even think about working on the 180SX. And what did those conditions entail? None other than Marty having to purge himself of all Subarus! That's right, folks, he was required to get rid of every last Subaru from his collection, just so we could work on this Nissan beauty.

Marty no longer has a Subaru, and he doesn't own one. They're all gone, it was one of the rules, and that means now, he can be a proper Nissan owner. No more being like "I've got my Nissan, and my Subaru" - Marty is officially a Nissan driver from now on! So, with his new status as a Nissan aficionado, let's take a look at this incredible 180SX.

This car has been sitting for over five years, and it shows. It's full of rust, broken, and unregistered. But, we can't argue with the price - it was only $600! And what a find it is - this car comes with the infamous SR20 engine, which is the fifth car we've had with this powerplant. Our plan is to turn this into a drift car, but we're going to need some help from our mate Andrewwho's a bit of an Obi-Nissan Kenobi.

Andrewwhose S-14 Sylvia has over 400 kilowatts at the wheels and knows a little about drifting too. He's the perfect person to help us get this 180SX up and running, and into drift mode. But before we start on the drifting mods, we need to figure out what's wrong with the engine. And by "figure out," I mean we're not entirely sure - all we know is that it's blown.

So, let's take a closer look at this SR20 engine. It's got Flat4 technology, which means it's basically two cylinders next to each other, standing on their side. Well, obviously, it's not perfect - but hey, it's manual, so it swaps easily! And check out the previous owner - they've gone to town on it, with a front mount and intercooler kit to lose some kilowatts.

But wait, what's this? An aftermarket Turbo Charger! Serial number 739, that is a disco potato. So we've got a nice little bolt-on Garret 2860RS, rated to about 300 HP after market exhaust manifold. And the best part? It was only $1000 extra! But, let's not get too excited just yet - there are some signs of poor engineering here.

For example, the intercooler looks disgusting - and I've never seen rust on aluminium before. So, somehow, the intercooler has rusted. And to make matters worse, the piping is probably filled with blown engine oil. But don't worry, we'll worry about that later. What's really concerning us right now is this rubber hose over the exhaust manifold.

Is that something you'd normally recommend doing? No, of course not! That's just a recipe for disaster - it could possibly catch on fire. And let me tell you, that person who did this needs to be slapped in the face with...with a rubber hose, I guess.
