The New Red iPhone 8: A Mid-Cycle Refresh with a Purpose
Hey guys, I'm Caboose T here and Apples back at it again. Today, we're going to take a look at the new red iPhone 8. This phone is part of Apple's product red tradition, which started last year and has continued this year with more iPhones than usual. We have the 10, 8, and 8 plus models available, but the red color is only for the 8 and 8 plus.
The unboxing experience for the new red iPhone 8 is similar to that of any other iPhone 8 or 8 plus. The box itself has a red theme, with a red text on a red apple logo. However, what's really new this time around is that Apple has listened to their customers and made some changes based on feedback. For example, the phone now comes in a 256 gig version of the iPhone 8 plus.
As we open up the box, we see that the accessories inside are the same as usual. The only addition is a pamphlet, which explains the purpose behind Apple's product red program. When you purchase any product red item from Apple, a portion of the proceeds goes towards supporting HIV and AIDS programs and research. It's a great initiative that not many people know about, so it's awesome to see Apple highlighting this cause.
After going through the paperwork, we finally get our hands on the new red iPhone 8 in all its glory. And let me tell you, it's really, really red. The color is different from last year's anodized matte red and aluminum finish, which was more of a subtle look. This year's version is more like Ferrari red or ruby red - it's hard to put into words just how bright and vibrant the color is.
The camera will have to do justice to this new color, but even in photos, it looks stunning. When we flip the phone over, we can see that Apple has also made some changes based on customer feedback. The white front that was a common complaint last year has been replaced with a straight-up red and black design. This is not only aesthetically pleasing but also makes the phone look super premium.
One thing that's really stood out to me is how well the red color matches the anodized aluminum finish on the back of the phone. It's like they've combined the two colors in a way that creates a seamless look. The contrast between the black front and the red and black design is also quite nice, creating a visually appealing effect.
The overall design of the iPhone 8 remains the same as other models. The glass on the back is still there, but now it's matched with the new red color scheme. The fingerprint reader Touch ID is still present, along with the display and all the other internal components. It's worth noting that this phone is essentially the same as other iPhone 8 models, just with different colors.
So, should you buy the new red iPhone 8? Well, it depends on your situation. If you're in the market for a new iPhone anyway, then go for it - it's a great option. However, if you're happy with your current phone and don't want to spend a lot of money, there are other options available. For example, you could grab a skin for your existing phone, which would give it a similar look without the hefty price tag.
In fact, Apple has already released a skin for the iPhone 10 that can give it a similar red color. While this isn't exactly the same as the new iPhone 8, it's still a great option if you want to get into the spirit of things without breaking the bank. As always, I'll be linking to more information and resources in the comments below.
In conclusion, the new red iPhone 8 is a mid-cycle refresh that brings a new color to the table while also continuing some changes based on customer feedback. The phone itself looks stunning, both in person and in photos, and it's great to see Apple supporting a good cause with its product red program.
