$9 EXTERNAL GRAPHICS CARD DOCK [eGPU ATTEMPT #2]

Hey Guys, We're Back with Another Mini PCIe Adapter EGPU Dock Attempt

We're back with another mini PCIe adapter EGPU dock attempt so uh let's get to it my other EGPU dock adapter uh whatever you want to call it video is getting a lot of attention from what I can tell and uh one of the commenters left me an interesting link and the link was to a device an adapter by itself that would convert Mini PCIe to full PCIe Express x16. Now, with my previous configuration, I needed an adapter that would go to mini PCIe to PCIe X1 and then X1 to x16. Well, this one skips out it skips on that middleman so uh so I decided to give it a shot and on top of that the adapter was only $9 so if I can get this to work a $9 adapter you put your own power supply on it it that's be really awesome if it would work.

So, I ordered it gave it a shot unfortunately and no point did it even recognize in the computer. I did have some trouble getting it slotted correctly the Dell that I used um this shouldn't have a whitelist on it because Dell's are a little nicer about that so I wouldn't have the problems that I did with the other laptop however like I said at no point did it even recognize it just you know I tried and tried I configured it differently uh I unplugged things plugged other things in correctly just I just tried some so much so many ways now this Dell has too many PCIe ports the one of them is labeled as M and I had some questions about going through MSATA on the other video um the SATA bus will not connect you to PCIe so if you can't connect to PCIe with an external graphics card dock you're not going to get it to work. However, the mini PCIe ports on this laptop are configured that might be an issue the Wi-Fi card should be mini PCIe so I moved it over from my first attempt which was on the uh m/w mini PCIe port which was fine and on top of that it fit the full length um the full length mini PCIe connector of this device well that didn't work.

I moved it over to the mini PCIe one that the that the uh the wireless card was plugged into and uh that one well I ran into some issues with it and I had to modify things a little bit and pull the disc drive out uh some stuff like that. And then once I got it completely locked in and everything especially considering that the uh the mini PCI card had some perforated marks on it so there it was a little Breakaway so you can convert it from Full to half which half is what I needed in this case well no no still nothing still no help at all doesn't recognize at all no matter what I disable what I plug in what I tighten nothing. So, unfortunately, this is another attempt that ends in failure what do you know so uh I don't know maybe I'll keep trying this stuff maybe I won't it's kind of cool though just to keep experimenting. I love doing that anyways if you guys like this video click that like button cck that click that subscribe button if you want to see more and there's always more coming so leave a comment let's talk about it and I'll see you guys in the next video bye

The Link That Changed Everything

Hey guys, one of my viewers left me an interesting link that changed everything. The link was to a device an adapter by itself that would convert Mini PCIe to full PCIe Express x16. This is exactly what we need for our EGPU dock setup and it's only $9. I mean, who wouldn't want a cheap solution like this? Let's see if this thing really works.

Troubleshooting Issues

I ordered the adapter and gave it a shot, but unfortunately, it didn't work out as planned. The biggest issue was getting it slotted correctly into my laptop. The Dell that I used has a whitelist on it, which means that some devices might not be recognized by the computer. This shouldn't be an issue for most people, but I had to do some extra steps to get everything working.

I also noticed that this laptop has too many PCIe ports, which could be an issue with our setup. The SATA bus won't connect you to PCIe, so if you can't connect to PCIe with your external graphics card dock, it just won't work. However, the mini PCIe ports on this laptop are configured differently, which might cause some issues.

Trying Different Approaches

I tried moving the Wi-Fi card over from my first attempt, which was using a different mini PCIe port. I moved it over to the one that the wireless card was plugged into and it didn't work out as planned either. The device had some perforated marks on the mini PCI card, which made it a little Breakaway so you can convert it from Full to half. This could be an issue with our setup.

I also had to pull out some internal components like the disc drive to get everything working. It was a bit of a mess, but I finally got everything sorted out and I should be good to go now. Well, at least for today.

The Future of EGPU Docks

Well, this attempt didn't end in success, but it's not all bad news. We learned that the adapter is actually pretty cheap, which could be a great option for those who are looking for an affordable solution. I'll keep working on my setup and see what else we can do.

I also want to thank you guys for watching this video and for being part of our EGPU dock community. If you liked this video, please don't forget to like it, subscribe to our channel, and leave a comment down below. We'll be back with more content soon so stay tuned!
