As we sit down to drive this Audi 200, it's hard not to notice the massive turbocharger that sits atop the engine. This beast of an engine is capable of producing a whopping 800 to 900 horsepower, making it one of the most powerful cars in its class. The two turbochargers provide a smooth and linear power delivery, but due to the high power output, it can feel a bit old-school compared to modern engines.

The Audi S2 was considered the luxurious performance version of the Audi 100, while this particular car is a 20-valve version with a five-cylinder engine. The rev limiter comes in at 6,300 rpm, but even with only 480 horsepower on tap, the car feels incredibly quick and responsive. We also measured its performance against the Audi S4, which didn't quite keep up with our Audi 200. In fact, despite being slower than expected, the Audi 200 still manages to deliver a thrilling driving experience.

is also a good day because we've got a visitor from belgium as you can see this is jimmy's audi 200 from 1990. but there is kind of a sad story behind it because jimmy built this car over a period of six years and he had old parts some of it was installed some of it was still waiting to be installed and then he was diagnosed with cancer and it really wasn't looking good for a while there and then he got a message from roy and roy is the guy who built the green audi s2 with 700 plus horsepower we actually filmed on the ultraman we filmed him driving that car i will link his company on screen right now or in the description i'll just make sure you can find his company because roy offered to take the car take all the parts and finish the build and he spent like three months finishing this car building it uh fitting all the parts that jimmy already had for it and just doing the tune everything so roy you are a great guy jimmy you are jimmy i wish you all the strength in the world and i want to thank you for taking your card to us because i honestly enjoy driving this type of car the most so today i'm going to show you around it i'm going to show you uh all the mods on it of course and then we'll take it for a drive towards the ultraman for an automatic blast now as i said it is epinema brown and that is the same color i had on my sq7 you don't see it that often but jimmy decided that this was the right color for the car and he had it painted which i do believe it just works so well this like slightly dreary 90s saloon car and then just add the brown to it just as a sort of a statement as an overstatement of dreary nightiness and that's why it works with all the chrome trim the audi 200 of course uh this is a 1990 car but this 220 v was built in 89 in 90 and in 91 and it's basically a sports sedan and it is now even more obviously so let's start at the front do we have any changes here i don't think so that's what i love about this car it's basically completely stuck apart from the wheels and the exhaust on the outside you really can't see anything well you can't see it of course because the wheels are quite large for a car this old so these are 19-inch bbs wheels very nice fit the car beautifully and then we've got brakes from an audi s4 b5 which are a lot better than stock but still not great we've got custom ast suspension with camber plates and then down the side beautiful chrome trim it looks so much older than like early 90s it looks like it's from early 80s but it's just so boxy and it's quite a large car as well at the rear we've got a three and a half inch custom exhaust front to rear sounds absolutely magnificent beautiful plastic bumpers that is lovely it is such a cool car man it's so understated i love it let's go check out the engine because that of course is what it's all about there we go so that is the engine and that is a 2.2 liter five-cylinder engine so stock this car developed 220 horsepower 309 newton meters of torque 6.6 seconds to 100 and a top speed of 242 kilometers an hour so that is honestly not bad for the early 90s quite a big car of course but it only weighs 1500 something kilos so it is quite light to today's standards of course but look at how little there really is here it is just an engine a massive turbo an intercooler and that's basically it very very cool so i do have a list here because it is quite a lot to remember and i'm going to share this with you in random order jimmy gave this to us so we've got rods forged pistons uh cat cams camshaft titanium valve springs inconel exhaust valves custom exhaust manifold as well right there as you can see and then we've got a wagner intake precision 6466 gen 2 turbo which is quite a big fella and then a wastegate as well by precision 2200cc injectors nuke performance fuel rail fuel pressure regulator right there as well and then bosch fuel pumps teflon fuel lines an audi 100 s4 gearbox so it's a six speed an audi v8 rear differential a lighter flywheel a socks clutch threadstone intercooler custom oil cooler vems ecu and then that three and a half inch exhaust the asd suspension with camera plates and the brakes so that is quite a lot of stuff and this turbo is i mean we are now driving it with 480 horsepower so it's running about 1.2 bar at the moment so it's basically boost leak for the i think it was another word but it's basically leaking boost because it can't handle it so it can run at between 2.7 and 3.2 bar and it should produce between 800 and 900 horsepower then and when he's got everything worked out then uh he will come back and we can test it again which is amazing yeah wow it is this is a serious build okay let's take a look at the interior because it is completely stock and i absolutely love it oh my god we do have an s2 steering wheel here which is pretty nice and an ipad for uh yeah all the gauges and to keep everything in check but other than that we've got these super plush seats beautiful wood trim on the dash i mean yeah this is very very retro i absolutely love the fact that it is just zero given basically just the engine uh that is the most important thing it's about driving and not about anything else and i absolutely love that so freaking cool jimmy you've got an amazing car i'm absolutely in love with it so let's start it up there we go we are actually not going to rev it because orson mchorn's face is enjoying his friday so i'm going to do that later on and well let's just take it for a drive so we've got that gearbox here that audi 100 s4 gearbox but it is the most guesswork i've ever done with the gearbox it is all over the place you've got that five cylinder sound all those turbo whistles blow off flutters absolutely delicious it sounds so good there is just something special about these old five cylinders with big turbos and as you can see the power delivery is so old-school that's also because of course we've got that massive turbo that is basically this setup is for 800 to 900 horsepower horsepower there's two of them and uh we're just running 480 horsepower now so it has this really weird power delivery but i absolutely love it so it's like 5 000. oh that is so amazing and it's an amazing car this i mean the the audi 200 was like the luxurious performance version of the audi 100 and then you've got this 20 valve version quick it feels much quicker than it actually is i mean it's a quick car but of course we just have 480 horsepower right now so i actually love that about this setup i mean i know that i'm going to love that 800 horsepower plus setup of course but i i also love a car that that pretends to be going really fast but actually isn't really because that means that you're gonna have a lot of fun with it legally i do feel like you know it's still an audi 200 so even though we do have that asd suspension set up the brakes the tires the wheels it's all new it still kind of feels like a like a sketchy thing to drive fast which is a good thing i like that so of course we also measured the 100 to 200 performance but it actually doesn't really impress in this car because as you can see it's like on the way to 480 horsepower it's like building building and then for a very short amount of time at like the top of the rev range or just before the rev limiter it's making 480 horsepower so we did like 12 12 something seconds not that quick but it really doesn't matter but you can hear the explosive character is just at the top that is nice oh man it runs so well what a joy to drive so that is fourth gear that is not bad it actually goes around the corner i wasn't really expecting that oh man this steering is so heavy and it's getting very toasty in here oh sweating my balls off well that's part of the game i mean i'm not going to turn on the ac i want all those 480 horses working you can you can hear it's it takes so much time to spool up there it goes just before 5000 rpm there we go now we've got a little bit of space here so it is a quick car it's it's not as quick as it sounds though and you do have to pay attention i can't really see the speed over i'm just going to keep going
