**A First Look at the BMW X6 M50d**
As I sat down with the BMW X6 M50d, I was excited to put it through its paces and see how it would perform on some of the most challenging roads in the UK. The first thing that struck me about this car is just how much power it packs under the hood. With three turbochargers pumping out a combined 600 horsepower, you can't help but feel like you're driving something special.
I was expecting to be blown away by the X6's performance capabilities, and I wasn't disappointed. The acceleration from 0-60mph is lightning quick, and the car feels razor-sharp when cornering. Whether I was cruising down the motorway or carving up some mountain roads, the X6 M50d handled itself with ease.
One of the things that really impressed me about this car is just how refined it is for its size. At over 5 meters long, the X6 is certainly a big car, but it's also incredibly comfortable and quiet on the inside. The sound deadening in the cabin is impressive, making for a very relaxing drive even at high speeds.
But it's not all about comfort - the X6 M50d is also an absolute blast to drive. The paddle-shift gearbox makes changing gears a doddle, and the car feels incredibly responsive when you're pushing it hard. I spent hours driving the X6 around some of the most challenging roads in the UK, including those at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and was consistently impressed by its performance.
One of the features that's particularly nice on this car is the automatic handbrake system. When you come to a stop, it will automatically apply the brakes before you even need to think about slowing down. It's a small touch, but it makes a big difference in terms of safety and convenience.
I also appreciated the numerous storage compartments and cup holders throughout the cabin. It's clear that BMW has put thought into every aspect of this car, from the comfort and convenience features to the technical specifications and performance capabilities.
As I drove around with the X6 M50d, I couldn't help but notice how much it seemed to lack the "waft" that some cars have when they're driven at high speeds. The X6 is actually remarkably stable and composed, even at high cornering speeds. This made for a very enjoyable driving experience, as I felt completely in control of the car at all times.
The interior of the X6 M50d is also worth mentioning. The sort of controls that you get on this car are incredibly advanced - I was particularly impressed by the "start/stop" system, which eliminates the need to use a manual gear selector when parking or stopped in traffic. It's just one of many thoughtful touches that make this car feel like a premium product.
As I drove around with the X6 M50d, I couldn't help but think about how it compares to other cars in its class. The McLaren 570S, for example, is also a highly-performance oriented car, but it's much smaller and more agile than the X6. On the other hand, cars like the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE are similar in size, but they just can't match the X6 M50d when it comes to outright performance.
After spending some time with the BMW X6 M50d, I have to say that I'm thoroughly impressed. It's a car that genuinely exceeds expectations - with its impressive performance capabilities, advanced features, and premium interior, it's clear that BMW has created something truly special here.
As I put the keys back in my pocket, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the opportunity to drive this amazing car. The X6 M50d is a true standout in its class, and I have no doubt that it will remain a favorite among performance enthusiasts for years to come.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys I'm shme and it's about time I finally introduce you properly on video to the latest addition to the shimi 150 Fleet this car the BMW X6 m50d now you might remember for the W meor I was driving around in a BMW M4 which was very kindly lent for the purpose from BMW UK and sadly that's gone but this has replaced it again a press car from BMW that I'm going to be driving for the near future to a number of events and potentially even trips I'll tell you a little bit more about that in due course I'm going to show you around the car talk about some of the options there is an incredibly long options list and a sort of couple of early thoughts really because I've been driving it now for a few weeks so the X6 m50d from the technical side it's a 3 l straight 6 diesel engine but with a triple turbocharger trt turbo 381 horsepower so n 62 is 5.2 seconds top speed is 155 mph it is definitely no slouch I can tell you that this particular car is in flamco red which is a color I really like it's a deep sparkly metallic red it doesn't quite show out the same on camera as it is in person but uh certainly a good looking color of course the X6 based on the same platform as the X5 but with the more sort of sporty aim of the car so you have the coupe sort of shape rear line but slightly less um luggage space as a result but I'll get on to what the interior is like as well a little bit further in the car has some pretty aggressive lines you've got the M Badges of course it comes out of the M division at BMW got a lot going on at the front this particular car is really really highly equipped so we've got the surround camera system and stuff like that I'm going to show you the wheels nice design the sort of five twin spoke like those quite a lot take a look at the interior keyless obviously should have mentioned that the key was in my pocket there um you literally just would hold your hand like this and it would unlock and then to lock it again you just press that um so unlocks oh what have I done wrong I'm standing too far away to hold the camera back to show you there we go so inside we've got black leather very nice sort of dual trim with the sort of glossy black and this sort of textured Metal finish as well huge screen here in the center which has all sorts of features we'll jump to that as well and a pretty nice sort of luxurious interor area I mean you sort of expect that from this car but it's definitely exceeding my expectations in the early miles as we come and have a look in the rear this is perhaps where I thought it might struggle but I have to be honest it doesn't at all I thought that I might have a problem with the Headroom but loads and KNE knees aren't exactly short on Space perhaps the rear floor is a little bit higher than you'd like but this car might see some Journeys with perhaps four people back here well in the car I don't think it's uncomfortable for that at all just get rid of my uh gear stick umbrella I've keeping in the back here and goes luggage goes all the way through to the rear as well here armrest as well everything you need yeah haven't actually spent very long playing around in the rear so this is slightly new to me as well I'm going to get up there in a sec I'll just run around to the boots first show you back there soft closed doors here if you don't shut them quite properly it pulls it in yeah there we go it did it I just stopped it by mistake so the boot this is where you have BMW's little trick thing where you wave your foot underneath in theory oh I've done it wrong there we go up it goes and then you've got the luggage space you've got this sort of like folding parcel shelf that I guess conceals your luggage you got more luggage space if you lift this up which is sort of hydraulic and you got a lower boot there but this higher sort of flat boot floor if you need it so I would say there's a lot of space back here like I've not owned a car that's had or driven a car for myself that's had anything like the space this car has so I've got no shortage it's already even transported a TV and some other stuff as well and then you can press the button to close the boot as well or wave your foot back underneath depending what you want so that stuff's quite good there's a lot of sort of I guess conflict on opinions from the looks it has a lot of status to it um and I I suppose with that comes a premium price and that's why that is um stepping over the m50d dorsals seats obviously the lumbar support Comfort memory just about everything you would anticipate so jump in now I will start it remember we are in a diesel so uh it's not going to win any awards for noise but we do have this really nicely shaped um digital display um the whole thing is digital um just Within these two sort of metal um I guess 3/4 Circle dials um and the modes can change everything as well so there's a lot um to see and do with that um I think from a sound point of view it's probably got BMW's sort of sound Generation stuff going on because when you're driving sportily it doesn't sound anything like as bad as you would expect um from a 3 l diesel um what else do we have we've got the Harmon Carden speakers of course um we've got the surround view cameras which I can activate by pressing this button and you can see uh neatly in the space but that actually helps so well seeing that sort of top down Bird's eyee View mode um line yourself up get around tight Corners cuz when you're in a car like this it's really hard to position because it it's very big so having the capability um for that kind of Technology helps significantly in uh getting it done and then of course you've got a normal front camera and if you go into reverse it brings up the reversing camera view too and that's a really really high resolution camera um which is nice uh to see look at there as well um not going to go too much through the ey drive system you probably know most of what it's capable of um this being the latest version of course the navigation has um Internet connected live traffic updates and stuff so you can see around here in London today I'm filming this on the day of the true tube strikes here in London which you might have seen in the news hence why just about every major road is showing us red is a complete and total disaster here in London um today um but fortunately the Park's not too bad well apart from that traffic jam driving across in front of me um so we've got big storage cupboards um in the armrest here I've got my iPod in here um it's got the upgraded phone system and then a big glove box as well but got all books and some other things bits and pieces in there as well um filling that up um right let's get to this dial because this is interesting so this is like the standard Comfort mode um setting so you got the stle here with up through sport settings and back down through comfort and you've got these sort of white dials whereas if you were driving at night those very same dials would also be there but they would show up in Red so it have the same appearance we've got the uh speed um awareness sort of dial um which is an option and also the head up display I'm not sure if you can see that there somewhere um now if I go one back into the Eco Pro mode gives us sort of graphic dialogue that something's changing it's much much more simple I've naturally not done too much driving in this mode up to this point um Speedo doesn't seem to go much Beyond 40 um although actually I think it only lights up where you are at that moment so it keeps everything completely minimalistic um and tidy if we go back up through Comfort towards sport it gets red significantly more aggressive larger Speedo in the left dial um gear on the right dial if you push the uh gear stick to the left if I was in drive and then into sorry into manual um it would give us the sport mode and then if I use the paddles we would go into manual and it would stay in manual whereas if the gear sticks over to the right and it's in drive and you use the paddles it then will automatically put itself back into automatic shortly after I'll just put it back into P so we don't roll off um some nice stuff like the lane guidance as soon as you start drifting out of your lane without um without the indicator on it will vibrate so you know you're doing it got an automatic um handbrake so as soon as you come to a stop it will apply the handbrake before you drive off again got another storage area here oh full of my stuff apparently full of too much of my stuff to open oops um but I've got some cables in there um just with some more cup holders and things um steering wheel got the sort of controls for cruise control um you've got your uh audio and phone stuff so driving it so far I think I didn't expect that much I was expecting you know a pretty heavy car well over 2 tons to be um a little bit wafty and perhaps not quite dialed in but I did some pretty interesting roads my Jour my driving so far has basically been down to the Goodwood Festival of speed um I've been away so much that it's been driving two places so I haven't really been able to fully concentrate um but it was a much sportier Drive than I anticipated it doesn't roll over anywhere like what you'd think on the sort of Corners so it's actually really quite fun and like I said before there is so much power it's not it's definitely not short on that and the upside is driving back and forwards to Goodwood which was motly mostly Motorway where it's incredibly quiet there's a lot of sound deadening in here like you'd hope the high-fi is brilliant I actually did just Just a Touch sh of 600 mil to the tank um which was about 80 L um I just filled it up again now but that's um kind of funny for me cuz I'm used to filling up a car at about 150 mil so it's about four times as much kind of leagues ahead and just on the sort of longdistance cruising you've got so many Comforts and luxuries and everything you sort of would think you could possibly want you got double air conditioning vents here to point in different directions um and everything you need so so far the driving has been incredibly enjoyable um very impressed just start stop buttons here um obviously like I said it's keyless and I'm looking forward to driving this car a fair bit more actually um it might do some trips around Europe we'll certainly do some driving with multiple people um oh we have nice feature open the door the steering wheel Rises to make getting in and out easier um it's kind of strange stepping out of a car being so much bigger than what I'm used to again soft close pull the door in um so yeah I'm going to put some miles on it enjoy the drive see what it's like to live with this car and use it sort of in a daily driving kind of environment but so far I'm very very happy I didn't expect to enjoy this car anything like as much as I am if that makes any sense at all I thought I would sort of question what the purpose was what the point of driving the X6 m50d would be but ample power looks absolutely fine to me I quite like them actually lots of sort of status that comes with this although London is not perhaps the most appropriate place for the car because it is fairly large it's a touch wider than even the McLaren is and uh it's just comfortable quiet refined and a better drive than I expected to something that is quite funny because this car is a trt turbo I am a very turbocharged household I have the arof with one turbo the McLaren with two turbos and now the X6 with three so actually that technically means I've got six turbos in three cars that's quite funny but um yeah that's sort of a first look an introduction of the X6 to the Shi Fleet I suppose you could call it looking forward to doing some many more miles in this car and telling you a little bit more about it as we go so thank you very much for watching make sure you stay tuned for all the other updates and I'll catch up with you again very soon cheers the BMW M4 the M4 is going to be joining the entire route that we go on
