The Thrill of Driving a Tuned Volkswagen GTI
As I stepped into Chris's beautifully modified Volkswagen GTI, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. The car had been tuned by APR, a well-respected German tuning company, and it was clear that they had spared no expense in making this vehicle a true performer. The exhaust system, in particular, caught my attention - the sound of it was music to my ears, with a full, rich tone that seemed almost otherworldly.
The car's engine was a beast, producing an impressive 3000 RPM and delivering a potent rush of power that was both exhilarating and humbling. The APR tuning system had unlocked the full potential of the engine, allowing it to breathe freely and deliver a smooth, seamless surge of torque. I couldn't resist the urge to push the car hard, and as soon as I shifted into gear, the vehicle shot forward with a speed and agility that was both thrilling and intimidating.
One of the things that struck me most about this car was its incredible balance and handling. Despite being an 18-inch wide rear wheel, the GTI seemed to handle like a dream on even the tightest corners, and I found myself carving through the twisties with ease. The APR tuning system had somehow managed to tame the car's more aggressive tendencies, allowing it to respond eagerly to my every input without becoming too aggressive or unwieldy.
But what really set this car apart was its incredible calmness and composure. Unlike many other hot hatches that I've driven over the years, which are often plagued by a nasty blowoff valve that makes them sound like a wounded animal, the GTI simply didn't have that problem. Instead, it seemed to be content with quietly propelling me forward, its exhaust note growing louder and more insistent as we accelerated. It was an utterly refreshing change of pace, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Of course, no discussion of the GTI would be complete without mentioning its legendary status within the hot hatch community. And while Chris's car was certainly not a stock model, it seemed to embody the very spirit of the GTI - its balance, its agility, and its unyielding commitment to delivering a driving experience that is at once thrilling and refined.
As I continued to drive the GTI, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer skill and craftsmanship that had gone into tuning this vehicle. The APR team had done an incredible job of coaxing out the car's hidden potential, and it showed in every aspect of its performance - from the way it accelerated like a rocket to the way it handled with precision and control.
One of the things that struck me most about Chris's car was the incredible attention to detail that had gone into its tuning. From the turbo outlet pipe to the APR intake system, every component seemed to have been chosen with care and precision in mind. And while I didn't get a chance to see it firsthand, I've heard rumors of a beautiful carbon fiber dry sump system that adds an extra layer of complexity and sophistication to the car's engine.
Of course, not all cars are as refined and polished as the GTI - some are more about brute force and raw power, while others prioritize handling and agility above all else. But for me, there's something special about this particular vehicle that sets it apart from the crowd. Maybe it's its stunning design, or maybe it's its incredible balance and handling - but whatever it is, I know that I'll be dreaming of Chris's GTI long after I've left the road behind.
As I brought the car to a stop on the hill, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction and contentment. The APR tuning system had somehow managed to tame the car's more aggressive tendencies, allowing it to respond eagerly to my every input without becoming too aggressive or unwieldy. And as I climbed out of the car, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the chance to experience this incredible machine firsthand.
Overall, Chris's GTI is a true marvel - a testament to the power of tuning and engineering when applied to a vehicle that was already so well-suited to it from the factory. Whether you're a seasoned hot hatch enthusiast or just looking for a fun and rewarding driving experience, this car is sure to deliver. And as I watched Chris drive away in his incredible machine, I couldn't help but feel a sense of envy - after all, who wouldn't want to be behind the wheel of such an incredible car?

this belongs to my buddy Chris who is kind enough to finally let me review a GTI it's been a long time running and I'm very glad I'm doing it what's really interesting about this car as soon as you get in it is the exhaust at idle it doesn't even sound like the car is on it's so quiet but then you kind of get on it just a little bit here let's get around this really really hard Bend and you get the turbo noise and you get the little bit of grunt oh yeah the shifter in this car I've driven it for like 10 minutes and I already love it it's super easy I never even thought about missing a gear throw it right in it's like that perfect little threshold between NACI and not NACI I really like it so so far plus the clutch as well this has an organic clutch in it and it doesn't feel like the clutch has been tampered with it doesn't feel like it's too aftermarket or too difficult to get into the next gear the car red lines at 6,000 RPM but by the time you get there you're already moving down a back road so it doesn't really matter so you can just wind it out the car feels really really balanced and compared to the other hot hatches I've driven I've driven the speed three and I've driven the St but so far this especially with the aftermarket support this has it's pretty great little bit of torque steer but I mean like that much all right so all righty round the ha pin we go and I think I'll yeah down shift here oh my ears are popping from these blackburg Mountain Roads ah push it around push it around made the tire jrip a little bit all right all you got to do is kind of push through it a little bit under steer if you let off the gas which you shouldn't all the way I was Dumb and I let off the gas and I under steered but other than that all you do is push through push through it's one of those cars where you just jump in and you you just don't sweat it like I'm so relaxed right now these seats are awesome they're really comfortable and everything just makes sense you have enough space to you know go out and do stuff with your friends and be compatible with that I mean it's a great college kid car that's almost like the mindset I have is that this is perfect for a kid going to college or something like that I really really really like the steering wheel too the materials on the steering wheel it's this really nice leather on it the word for the GTI and other hot hatches is it's practical you have 2 L turbo up front so it's enough to have fun and play around with well at the same time your gas mileage doesn't suffer too much but hearing that full noise is pretty awesome but right now I'm cruising a 3,000 RPM and then you just get into it and boom boost the exhaust on this car like before that I really really like about it it's by APR now a lot of you guys might know APR and they're really really popular in the German World with German tuning they're really good with Audi's and like especially like the ttrs and that sort of thing so it's like trickle down technology to things like the GTI astonishes me that this is an aftermarket exhaust it blows my mind also this car is tuned by APR and it has the intake from APR and it's a gorgeous intake it's a very nice carbon fiber and so far Chris has told me it hasn't yellowed out yet but he says I just haven't beaten up my car yet needs to be more beaten up it also has a turbo outlet pipe which also adds a little bit more guess meat on the bone to the tune well that was easy all right so first gear oh little bit of torque Ste that time I wasn't ready it shot me over I wasn't ready it's not it's totally controllable guys I'm not like but it just snapped real hard to the right now on this back road that wasn't a good idea by me that why' I do that I don't know why I do that what's weird is I'm so used to these hot hatches having this obnoxious blowoff valve on them so when you shift you to get that huge Purge but this doesn't it's so it's so calm and gentle it it just wants to wrap around you go oh you want to go on a back Ro drive I'll just be nice and gentle no boy racer for you the gti's had such a legacy for all these years and vws really outdone themselves with each generation now a lot of people are going to go oh he's in the newer GTI it's not it it's not a real one uh blah blah blah give me a break it's still a GTI the heart and soul of it is still a GTI I mean what's great about it this car feels like it could have completely come like that like this excuse me stock it feels like it should have came from the factory this way and that's why APR has such a fantastic reputation is because you you basically hit them up and say this is what I want and I don't want to you know risk the practicality I don't want to risk the Power Band being all iffy and it just is nice and smooth you just get into it bam your instant race car and then you let off and then you shift into or six you kind of just slow down and it's like cruising with any other computer car it's absolutely awesome I think the GTI is one of those cars where from the factory we're just a little bit above from Factory that is The Sweet Spot I feel if you had any more power or a lot more power excuse me like another 200 more horsepower not saying that would be easy to do it might be it might not be but the point of what I'm saying is for these kind of Roads you don't need anymore you really don't I think it's one of those cars where it's all about where you live and for autocrossing it's so balanced I can't imagine doing this back road comfortably and just you know fighting the wheel the entire time with torque steer and having to Bonkers M just spinning the front-wheel drive platform like Chris says if you're in the GTI just for big horsepower you're in the wrong platform it's just how it goes the balance of power the practicality the gas mileage the seats has a good radio what's not like what's not to like and break and round a bin and this is a really sharp B downshift oh I should have in a lower gear oh yeah ah driving is therapy oh this is a hill and shutting down well that was fun wow that was the most confident I've been in a car in a while Around The Hairpin that hairpin was tricky that was pretty awesome a ridiculous thing about this car is it's stock suspension I was like I looked at it and since the body lines of the car almost kind of have this more lower look to it I was like oh it's probably got Springs or something on it but no it's completely stuck suspension and for having sock suspension it runs really really good all right ladies
