Linus Tech Tips Coverage of CES 2015: A Look at Three Innovative Battery Packs

Linus Tech Tips is back with their coverage of CES 2015, brought to you by Phantom Glass and HyperX. Today, they'll be checking out three different battery packs that are sure to impress.

First up is the Energy Plus 12,000 milliamp hour Insh edition battery. This isn't just a normal battery; it also has some extra technology inside of it. If you happen to be using Ingress while trying to charge your phone on this battery, not only will it be more efficient and not ruin your battery or your phone, but it will also take some of the information from the game and display it on your battery pack. This is a pretty cool feature that shows just how innovative these batteries can be. There are a whole bunch of different default colors if you want to display your colors, if you want to be more Anonymous, you can change that manually on the battery. Additionally, some information will be able to come from the app to the battery, so different nodes that are around you will change color depending on what team currently has them.

Next up is the Cho Tough 9,000 milliamp battery. This is a very cool little device, made out of inspiration from the victims of the tsunami in Japan and its namesake is very tough. It's shock resistance, water resistance, drop resistance, all that kind of stuff. The CES guys even tested it out for water resistance, and it passed with flying colors. One thing I really like about this battery is it's great for something like a go bag; if there are hurricane warnings or something like that, you can throw this battery in there and it will be very good for that. Churro uses all Panasonic Japanese batteries, which will last a really long time, so you don't really have to worry about it deteriorating much in your go bag.

Last but not least is the Chiro Handy battery pack. This is more of the fashionable type of battery pack compared to the other two; it has a pley finish and a built-in cable for charging and for micro USB. If you need a lightning connector, there's a micro USB on the battery bank where you can adapt from micro USB to lightning to charge your iPhone. To check the battery level on the Handy, all you need to do is shake it; then it'll display the battery for you quite easily. This is a nice little fashionable device that is sure to appeal to anyone looking for a stylish way to keep their devices charged.
