The Art of Dessert Ravioli: A Sweet and Savory Experiment

"I'm going to make dessert ravioli, so I'm going to make the filling for the ravioli and all it is is ricotta mixed with chocolate hazelnut spread and a little bit of parmesan. Parmesan that would be very gross that would be strange," says the creator of this unique dessert. This unusual combination of ingredients may seem off-putting at first, but trust us when we say that it's going to result in something truly delicious.

As the creator begins to mix together the ricotta, chocolate hazelnut spread, and powdered sugar, she notes that it's kind of an unusual combination. "It's like ricotta mixed with chocolate hazelnut spread and powdered sugar," she says. "Kind of an unusual combination isn't it Paige?" The mixture is smooth and creamy, with a subtle sweetness from the powdered sugar.

Now it's time to build the ravioli, and the creator is using wonton wrappers. "Wonton wrapper ravioli is incredible," she says. She explains that she uses this type of wrapper to make regular ravioli as well, but for this dessert version, she's excited to experiment with a new filling. To begin, she puts a little spoonful of the ricotta mixture in the middle of each wonton wrapper.

Next, she dips her finger into a beaten egg and runs it around the edge of the wrapper. This will act as the glue that holds the wrapper together when sealed. She then takes another wonton wrapper and squares it up on top of the filling, creating a perfect seal around the edges. To get rid of any air bubbles, she forces them out by applying gentle pressure.

With all six ravioli built, the creator is ready to cook them in hot vegetable oil. "They are gonna take no time at all to cook," she says with anticipation. After frying for just a few minutes, she removes the ravioli from the oil and starts to prepare the finishing touches. She's using white chocolate that she melted over a double boiler to create a smooth and creamy glaze.

As she drizzles the white chocolate back and forth across the ravioli, she notes that it's "kind of a mess," but that's exactly what makes it so charming. The combination of the crispy wonton wrappers, the soft ricotta mixture in the center, and the sweet white chocolate glaze is absolute perfection. And with the addition of chopped hazelnuts and sliced strawberries, this dessert ravioli is sure to be a hit.

The creator finishes off her creation by sprinkling some additional powdered sugar on top for extra sweetness. She steps back to admire her handiwork, clearly proud of what she's created. "I think you've done it again," she says with a smile, referring to herself as the dessert ravioli mastermind. And indeed, she has proven once again that pasta can be both savory and sweet, and that sometimes the most unlikely combinations can result in something truly magical.

As the creator takes her first bite of the finished ravioli, she notes that it's "soft and ooey gooey" just as expected. The combination of flavors and textures is absolute perfection, with each component complementing the others in perfect harmony. And what really makes this dessert ravioli special is its ability to challenge traditional notions of what pasta can be. Who says pasta has to be savory? Not this creator, who is pushing the boundaries of culinary innovation one delicious dessert ravioli at a time.
