The Frustrating Problem of iOS Device Fullness: A Step-by-Step Guide to Freeing Up Space
There's nothing more frustrating than seeing your iPhone, iPod, or iPad get full, especially when you see that a lot of it is taken up by other people's data and just seems to grow bigger. Today, I'm going to show you how to free up all of that space in no time.
Other devices tend to be full of various files and content, including Safari bookmarks, texts, calendar entries, and much more. If you're tired of feeling like your device is always running out of space, it's time to take action. There are two main ways to delete the other files from your iOS device, but one method stands out as the most successful: wiping your device.
Before you start, make sure to back up your device and iTunes first. This will ensure that all of your important data is safely stored in case anything goes wrong during the process. Once you've backed up your device, go to Settings > General > Reset, and choose "Erase All Content and Settings." Wait for your iOS device to reboot, then connect it to iTunes and restore from backup.
This step will remove all of the cookies, temp files, and other data that's accumulated on your device. There may be some other data left behind, but hopefully, it's been reduced dramatically. If you're not feeling like wiping your phone entirely but still want to free up some space, there are a few more tips to try.
Firstly, some people hold onto their texts for far too long, never deleting them when they first got their iOS device. However, within these messages, there are often hundreds of images and movies that people have sent you. To reduce the size of your texts, delete individual attachments or delete entire message threads. This will help declutter your inbox and free up some space on your device.
Another tip is to try deleting and reinstalling certain apps and games. These can contain a lot of unnecessary data that just collects over time, particularly apps like Facebook and Instagram. To see which apps are taking up the most space, go to General > Usage > Storage. If the size of an app is vastly different from the size of its documents and data, try removing as much as you can or reinstalling the app.
Safari can also gather a lot of data from numerous sites over time. Head to Settings > Safari, and clear your history and website data. This will help remove any cached content that's taking up space on your device.
By following these tips and techniques, you should be able to free up some space on your iOS device in no time. Remember to always back up your device before making any significant changes, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance. Happy cleaning!
