GDC 2015: War Friends with Peter from Boat Fun Games

How's it going? It's great to see you here at GDC 2015, folks! I'm more weird, and I'm excited to be checking out some of the latest games with my friend Peter from Boat Fun Games. Let's get started!

First off, let me show you what we have here. We've got a few cars to choose from before we begin our gameplay experience. The core of this game is all about shooting your friends – it's a quarterly game, to be exact. And by that, I mean you can use different weapons and army needs to take down your opponents. It sounds like a fun and competitive experience!

Okay, so let me start using these units... seconds Tom Thomas is our opponent today, and he's on the opposite side of the field. I'll just go ahead and shoot for him. As we play, you can see that there are four shields on both sides of the field – they're great for taking cover from incoming attacks. You can also swipe left or right to move to different positions and avoid getting hit.

Now, let me show you some of the units we have available. These guys have weaknesses and advantages, so it's essential to know how to use them effectively in battle. Children are coming at us right now – Tom is using his builder to create turrets that will attack us. But I've got a rocket launcher that can take him down quickly! It's real-time multiplayer action, folks!

Wait, what are the rules again? Let me check... it seems like we're competing against each other to kill the most remote supporting troops. We have two and a half minutes to go – if neither of us is able to take each other out before that time runs out, we'll be going head-to-head with no shields in sight. It's going to be a tough battle!

Oh man, I'm feeling a bit drained right now... I need to take down Tom's units first and then gain some energy before I can keep fighting. But look – there's a drone coming our way! Wilson is providing some much-needed backup for me, and it looks like it's going to be a close match.

Whoa, so close! I managed to destroy the culture unit, but it was a tough fight. Okay, now it's my turn again... I've got my rocket launcher, and Tom is using his engineer to create more turrets. But I'm not afraid – I'll just use this guy in Bootstrap to take him down.

One of the things that caught my attention during gameplay was how different units have bonus effects when used in specific situations. For example, the Booster can give us a huge boost in energy when used correctly. It's one of these game-changing features that can turn the tide of battle in our favor!

But enough about that – it's time to show off some other exciting aspects of War Friends! What we're really looking forward to is the release of this free-to-play game on iOS, along with the promise of a cross-platform experience for all players.
