OnePlus 5 Full Review - Should you Buy

**The OnePlus 5 Review: A Game-Changing Android Phone**

In our review, we put the OnePlus 5 through its paces to see if it lives up to its promise as a powerful and feature-rich Android phone. The result is a device that is sure to please even the most discerning smartphone user.

One of the standout features of the OnePlus 5 is its customization options. As you'd expect from a flagship phone, the phone has a number of pre-installed widgets that allow you to customize your home screen. However, it's not just about aesthetics - these widgets also give you access to a range of nifty features, such as the reading mode that automatically activates when you launch apps like Kindle. This feature is especially useful for bookworms and fans of long-form content.

Another feature that we're particularly fond of is the ability to customize your status bar. With just a few taps, you can remove icons that you don't need or use, giving you a clean and clutter-free interface that's perfect for those who like to keep their home screen organized. And if that wasn't enough, the OnePlus 5 also allows you to customize gestures - instead of launching the camera or flashlight, you can assign your own custom actions to pull out from the gestures.

In terms of performance, the OnePlus 5 is a revelation. We didn't encounter any lag or slowdowns during our review, even when pushing the phone to its limits with gaming and multitasking. The phone's hardware is certainly impressive, with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor at its heart. Whether you opt for the 6GB or 8GB variant of RAM, the phone will provide you with smooth performance that's on par with some of the best Android phones on the market.

**The Cameras: A Mixed Bag**

One area where the OnePlus 5 excels is in its camera setup. The dual-camera system at the back, comprising a 16MP primary sensor and a 20MP secondary sensor, provides an impressive level of zooming capability - up to 2x lossless zoom, to be exact. However, we do have to mention that optical image stabilization (OIS) is missing from this setup, which can cause images to become shaky when using the zoom mode.

The company has also added a depth mode, which is almost identical to the Portrait mode on the iPhone 7 Plus. While it's in its early stages of development, we're excited to see how OnePlus plans to improve upon this feature in future software updates. One thing that does need improvement, however, is the quality of the background blur - at present, it looks like it's been added post-processing rather than being done in-camera.

The front camera, meanwhile, is a 16MP Snapper that works well for selfies and video calls. However, there's nothing particularly special about it compared to other high-end phones on the market. That said, the beauty mode and Smile Capture features are both excellent additions that help to create more flattering and engaging portraits.

**Phone and Networks: A Solid Experience**

In terms of phone and networks, the OnePlus 5 is a solid performer. The device supports dual SIM card slots, allowing you to have two active SIM cards at once - perfect for those who need to stay connected on the go. We also found that the phone's network performance was excellent in our tests, with great voice quality and reliable connectivity.

The loudspeaker, meanwhile, is a major highlight of the device - it's Extremely Loud, making it a joy to watch videos or play games on the go.

**Battery Life: A Solid 4-5 Hours**

Finally, let's talk about battery life. The OnePlus 5 comes with a 3300mAh hour battery that provides around 4-5 hours of screen time, depending on usage. While this isn't the longest battery life we've seen in a flagship phone, it's still plenty sufficient for most users.

The device also features Dash Charging, which allows you to quickly charge your phone from zero to 100% in under an hour - a feature that's been present on previous OnePlus devices and is sure to please those who are always on the go.

**Verdict: A Great Value Flagship**

Overall, we think that the OnePlus 5 is a great value flagship phone that punches above its weight. With its powerful performance, excellent camera setup, and customization options galore, it's clear that OnePlus has put together a device that will appeal to both casual and power users alike.

Of course, the price may be higher in some markets like India, where the competition from Samsung Galaxy S8 is fierce. But whether you choose the 6GB or 8GB variant of RAM, we believe that the OnePlus 5 is worth considering - especially if you're looking for a device with more customization options than your average flagship phone.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys what's up this is bat and this is the new OnePlus 5 the company's latest Flagship killer for 2017 but is it a true Flagship killer and is it worth your money let's find out now as far as phones are concerned in 2017 we've been spoiled for Choice as far as color is concerned as far as design is concerned and the Samsung Galaxy S8 is a great example of how a company used hardware and Industrial design to win the hearts of the public now OnePlus tried to do the same thing with the OnePlus 5 changing the design Outlook of the phone completely but it now resembles the iPhone 7 plus and it may not be such a great thing especially for OnePlus fans and even though the phone looks like it's an iPhone 7 plus running Android the OnePlus 5 has a bunch of tricks up its sleeve once we get over the fact that the phone looks like the iPhone the front also is not a lot different from the OnePlus 3 or the OnePlus 3 3T you still get a 5.5 in display with 1920 x 1080p resolution and it is an AMOLED display with considerable amounts of bezel all around the display with a big forehead and a big chin and some bezels on the side of the display it's no 2017 Flagship killer especially if you keep considering the Samsung Galaxy S8 but the company wanted to make an edgeless phone but was restricted thanks to the resources and infrastructure required to have a display like that essentially what the company is trying to say is that if they they did put an EDG less display on the phone the price would have gone a lot more higher than it already has now apart from the anodized aluminum back panel the front also has Gorilla Glass 5 and Gorilla Glass 5 is also used on the camera lenses to protect them at the back the fingerprint Santa is covered by ceramic so all in all the build quality of the phone is great but it's missing out on any IP certification that we've seen on most flagships in 2017 now the one thing that the company did not pull back on is the hardware so you still get the qucon s dragon 8 35 along with six or a whopping 8 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage now do you really need 8 GB of RAM I'm not too sure but we found the 8 GB variant to run a lot smoother and also execute things like app installs and switching between apps a lot quicker OnePlus has also focused a lot on the software optimizations with oxygen OS running now on Android 7.1.1 the experience of oxygen OS is almost stock Android is with a bunch of customizations done by the OnePlus team you still get the shelf on the left with which you can customize your widgets and it's quite useful if you start using it a lot but you also get some new Nifty Things like the reading mode that turns on automatically when you launch apps like the Kindle and you also have the ability to customize your status bar to remove icons that you don't really use you also have the ability to customize the gestures now so instead of launching the camera or the flashlight you can have your own actions to pull out from the gestures which I find to be extremely Nifty now the overall usage from day-to-day is pretty fast extremely responsive and we didn't see lags or slow down except once in a while things like gaming and multitasking are a breeze and you'll thoroughly enjoy it on the OnePlus 5 whether you get the 6 GB or the 8 GB variant whatever the scores on benchmarks and whether they're accurate or not or have been tweaked by the OnePlus steam the phone does manage to throw down some performance and you'll thoroughly enjoy it now on another thing that the company dearly focused on are the cameras the 16 map plus 20 map camera setup at the back allowing you to zoom in up to 2x losslessly the camera interface is quite like the iPhone 7 plus allowing you to tap on the 1X button to get a 2X lossless Zoom one thing that I dearly Miss especially for shaky hands like mine is the optical image stabilization especially when you're using the zoom mode it can come in really handy causes my images to turn out to be shaky when I click them the company's also added a depth mode which is almost identical to the portrait mode on the iPhone 7 plus but the execution of it is extremely nent and it's in its early stages so the blur in the background looks like it's been added on in post it's not so great and hopefully the company can fix that with the software update the OnePlus 5 also offers up a complete Pro mode with things like a histogram and a level along with the standard ability to customize the aperture shutter speed and ISO white balance Etc now the images from the phone turn out to be great if you manage to have your hands stable and you can also get some 4K video at 30 frames per second and super slowmo video at 120 frames per second at 720p the front camera is a 16 mapix Snapper and while it works great there's nothing special going on over there you do have a beauty mode and a Smile Capture that works really well now as far as phone and networks are concerned the phone does have two SIM card slots so you can pop in two n SIM cards that can be active at both times the phone does support 4G and voice over LTE in various countries and we found the networks to be extremely solid and voice quality to be great the louds speaker is Extremely Loud and you'll thoroughly enjoy it especially while watching videos and playing games OnePlus has also included a 3,300 Mah hour battery that on a full charge we found works for about 4 to 5 hours of screen on time depending on the usage you also get the dash charge capab ability to charge up your phone quickly and it still works as good as it did on the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T all in all OnePlus has managed to pull out a great product with the OnePlus 5 and even though the price may have gone higher in markets like India where the price between this and the next big Flagship is quite a lot it still makes a lot of sense to choose the OnePlus 5 over the many other phones available in the market and with xiaomi not even considering bringing the MI6 at the moment to India the OnePlus 5 will make for a great product in this price range range in other markets where Hardware may not be that much more prominent the company may have a slight bit of difficulty with only1 to $150 of difference remaining between the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the new
