The Art of Customizing a Vehicle: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Western Wheel Crafts
As I watched Western Wheel Crafts work their magic on this particular vehicle, I couldn't help but appreciate the sheer amount of time and effort that went into transforming it. The process began with grinding down the existing surface to create a smooth foundation for the new finish. "Space has been grinded as you can see by the lines that go far into the aluminum," explained one of the craftsmen, highlighting the dedication required to achieve such precision.
The team's attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the process, from applying hand-signed inserts to meticulously polishing each component to a high shine. "We'd have to hand sign the inserts just quite a bit of work I would say maybe half of Mornay can be done so that that one for this just this one face of one person fully working on this guy," said another craftsman, emphasizing the extent of their labor.
What struck me most was the realization that customizing a vehicle like this is far from a quick and easy process. As I watched, it became clear that each step required a significant amount of time and skill to execute correctly. "I mean you can do it right you get some spray paint you did but you want a proper you know reconditioning and you do obviously harder professionals here at Western wheel crafts," acknowledged one of the team members.
The process was not limited to simply polishing and painting; it also involved intricate machinery work, such as curving a wheel around its entire surface. "You would have to send it over to Vancouver on the mainland which is a couple hours away the dealerships over here the high-end ones even send us the wheels and we polish it up," shared another craftsman.
The end result was nothing short of breathtaking. A sleek, polished finish that seemed almost too good to be true. "We sat it down polish it ten grits to a thousand and then we would tape this area and put on a little bit of paint and you wouldn't tell the difference while big important step now finds a paint color because last time we talked about that we had a pain cook dough but now we're thinking able to change it up with a blocky type of color with a bit of copper in it," explained one of the team members.
The decision on which paint color to use was, as they revealed, not an easy one. "It's kind of hard to tell there's the color that you guys chose last time yeah actually really nice a hellcat oh that's pretty cool so this is actually goes on the hellcat we showed you before but yeah I don't know about the copper I think it's too pink or too well," shared another craftsman.
The team members jokingly referred to their dilemma as "the wheel of color." Despite the challenge, they remained committed to delivering a top-notch finish that would meet their high standards. After all, this was Western Wheel Crafts we were talking about – a company renowned for its exceptional workmanship and attention to detail.
In the end, it was clear that each aspect of the customization process had been meticulously considered to produce a truly exceptional result. From grinding down the existing surface to applying hand-signed inserts, every step required skill, patience, and dedication. As I watched the finished product come together, I couldn't help but feel a sense of admiration for the craftsmanship on display.
As we left the facility, I took a moment to appreciate the vehicle's newfound presence – sleek, polished, and almost otherworldly in its beauty. The TDI engine, once a humble component, now hummed with a satisfying efficiency, a testament to the team's expertise. And as for me? Well, let's just say it was an experience I won't soon forget.
The ride itself proved to be a pleasant surprise – smooth and quiet, with barely a whisper of noise from the engine or transmission. The diesel fuel, which boasted an astonishing 20 cents-per-liter savings compared to regular gasoline, seemed to have done its job admirably. As for the owner's concerns about the car's smell? Well, that was a minor hurdle easily overcome.
But as I reflected on the experience, one question kept nagging at me: Was this truly a smart purchase, or had I simply gotten swept up in the excitement of it all? Only time would tell.

like it's not next in line because there's a huge market forum with the heroes back it's a pretty cool car so fortunate BMW didn't do anything crazy to the body didn't have the same aggressive look as the e30 or 46 but it's a cool car so maybe I'll buy it off Matt we get done with it for a massive loss on his behalf however old guys what do you think should I buy this car leave a comment here the forklift good everything this is the fast way of jackets an old friend I'll hold on with ya I got 20 horsepower right there all right we got some wheels don't wheels for now oh so much better I'm in sorry right in the corner there you see it I know the rust there so this car was originally from Illinois and then I got imported to Canada where it spent a few years in Alberta before coming to see me in British Columbia so it has been prone to a lot of salts and things like that so it looks pretty good overall yeah that's part of the game some pretty little bushings look good looks can be deceiving my minimus god damn it I was gonna figure out how to keep this stupid corner light in the car I like it it's you know very fitting to the car to repair method at least is not gonna go for non yeah did he have it it's got a yeah like it yeah Matt help me out he straighten that wheel put some better tires on it for now tires and rims fix my signal light we're in good shape but there's one more thing we have to accomplish I need a new computer because the Mercedes is dead and bunch of cars out there no masks initially always got and then hopefully we can make a deal just literally a month thank you very much if you guys didn't want some work done on your BMW you want to buy an awesome commuter that's not only what they do here go your car fix hit this guy up okay so that light is in the wheels faced in the right direction now upright I've got some tires I'd say this was a stop see Matt thanks back I just bought the Volkswagen Golf off him I just paid him it's in my name and I want if they bought Mercedes plates here and insurance is still valid so it's good to go yeah so I'm gonna drive this part of Victoria checkout BuildCraft said the wheels are looking I'll come back I'll leave this car here I'll gather the golf good all right I'll see you guys in Victoria boom we're in Victoria we're at Western wheel crafts go find jazz and see what's up you guys know this guy it's Jess here at Western milk rack we're back and as it turns out the wheels were a bigger project than Irish and eggplant we're just normal for me everything I do seems to turn out to be way more work so what are the update we've got it most the prepping stage powder coat is off and the pieces are all are our parts so cool yeah we're getting it to play with in the wake of the weekend there what do you call this section B you can see we took all the bowls out there is obviously 40 of them and we put some aircraft server on top so we let let the aircraft stripper do its thing for about a day or so and then we kind of rushed or washed it afterwards and all that came off the face of the wheel and now we've got the outer barrel yes they said that right yeah pull it to lift the lip technically yeah that's cool so this is all sanded down it's all prepped out there's a bit more a couple more things that we want to do to it before we start priming painting it but we kind of want to show you guys how I would look after the powder coating to take it off so that is the lip and you have right here the barrel yes we've got the back into the wheels we got the lip and then you get basically a variation showed you guys so what it looked like with us putting the aircraft stripper on so this is the left and it quite a bit of the work which is awesome sometimes it doesn't work out like this so we're really happy that didn't work and now we would be able if it said and it's kind of what it would look like after your property so this is the back of the wheel did you're not be that good usually this takes weeks for us half a week or so which is awesome space has been grinded as you can see by the lines that go far into the aluminum we would have to hand sign the inserts just quite a bit of work I would say maybe half of Mornay can be done so that that one for this just this one face of one person fully working on this guy Wow any hours and total of this in this job this wheels 5 hours a day or we can have at least I think people I just like myself you assume that it's just everything's quick and easy I hope you learned that over and over again watching every process of this build how much like physical labor and time it takes to do this not to do it right anyway I mean you can do it right you get some spray paint you did but you want a proper you know reconditioning and you do obviously harder professionals here at Western wheel crafts you have to wait more than all of it to them and just like a three-piece fancy wheel you would do any alloy so if somebody has let's say at this wheel here which I assume from a Honda it was curved all the way around to machine face finish once the deduct rocker you have to send it over to we've decided the color and we're not gonna tell you guys give an idea of which one but again we're not gonna tell you to wait to find out okay the wheels redone painted whatever Western meal craft you guys are all review see ya bro thank you sir we'll get out of here I'll see you guys later let's do this here that diesel oh yeah or you can hear the turbo spooling do you guys hear that first impressions of the TDI and actually dry ups really good everything works okay it doesn't pulls a little left to right the clutch feels good brakes feel good it's just really dirty in here it actually it actually stinks really bad it smells like dog and I got a dog nothing against dogs but I can feel it my sinuses so I leaned through this thing cleaned up but I think it'll be the perfect highway commuter I mean ego aside you guys this'll literally cost me five to ten dollars a day as opposed to a hundred and the Escalade or fifty sixty in the m3 so that's my justification for it see the Chevron have diesel oh I see the green logo let's get some diesel see that green handles and girls oh yeah in case you're a so it's a dollar 28 a liter and regular fuels dollar 48 so it's 20 cents a liter cheaper and the cheapest fuel the m3 takes the premium just puts a dollar in ATM right now so it's considerably cheaper whoever it burns a lot less as well so I've been told a thousand dollars per tank don't let me down okay it's done fifty-five dollars thirty dollars cheaper than the creative skill I've reset the dollar to zero we will now see how many kilometers get to this tank I'll keep
